The experience was FIVE STARS. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ But ... dealing with the sales office to get ON on the boat? ZERO STARS. We planned a 2-part surprise party - the first part was a ride on the Tiki Barge for 11 people early on Sunday afternoon, and the second part was a cookout after for another 16-18 people. We were told by the owners to make reservations in advance, which we did weeks ahead of time. Then we waited and waited and waited - but even though we had paid, we never got confirmation. I called the Monday before and was told that our trip had been cancelled because there weren't enough people (funny, that wasn't mentioned when we made the reservations). They said that they were planning on calling us "later in the week" to let us know. So, our early trip had been cancelled, but we were welcome to call off our 30-person cookout that afternoon and come on a trip later in the day. WHAT IN THE HELL WAS THE POINT OF MAKING RESERVATIONS?! So, we had less than a week to reschedule an entire event that had taken weeks to plan, because Tiki Barge apparently doesn't honor the reservations they tell you to make. If it had been up to me, I would have cancelled the whole trip and gone on the Goodtime III or something, but the birthday person had wanted to go on the boat for quite a while, so we went. The experience on the boat was FANTASTIC. I can't say enough good about the Captain, his Mate and the trip itself. But unless you buy out the entire boat, or if you're lucky and they don't cancel your reservation, it doesn't look like you can actually count on going. They offer "single ticket options" - but unless there are a lot of random strangers showing up at the same time, that doesn't seem likely. We rented a Duffy boat that holds up to 12 people and we brought 9. It was simply awesome! The boat was easy to use and our night out on the water was perfect. We did a 7-9pm rental. Soooooo fun!! The staff was really nice too. Can't wait to incorporate this into every summer trip to cleveland from here on in!

The driver and co-captain were extremely polite, even though it was a hot afternoon. We were allowed to bring 3 beers or a total of 36 oz of drinks with us. There was a Bluetooth speaker on board which allowed up to all take turns playing our own music too. Overall, the ride lasted a little over 2 hours and it was smooth along the water. A few views that made the outing a memorable one were: downtown's skyline, the flats, and an opening of the lake. Typically the boat will seat about 10 people and we had just a few less. Regardless, it was not an issue as they were extremely accommodating. There is a small convenient store next to the boarding location if you forgot to purchase any beverages before the adventure.

A bottle of water and binoculars were all we needed. There are several American bald Eagle nest along the way, and we got to see the adults and some young fledglings. Tom, the owner, was the tour guide. He was so knowledgeable about the birds, the Huron area, and nature in general. The bicycle seats are a bit uncomfortable; however he is removing them and putting in comfortable swivel seats after this season ends in October. I would like to come back next spring or fall to see the different seasons.

I opted in, and was pleasantly surprised at the history and the way the original artifacts were preserved when possible. The building was otherwise very modern. We were able to see the indoor rowing room, the storage for boats, the Big House and a room believed to be a speakeasy a long time ago. They do summer camps for youth and also a great deal of outreach in the community to let people know about their rowing and sailing programs. Companies can rent out space for events or do team building in the indoor state of the art simulation rowing room. The Cleveland sign out back was a pleasant surprise also. Come visit!
