There was an event going on which is understandable but as paying a paying customer it would have been nice to be serviced in a timely manner as the individuals from the event event were self serving themselves to the bar. On top of that the music was so loud I had to yell at the person I was with for conversation. I would eat here again but get food to go, not a a restaurant to sit down and eat at.

The cuisine: My wife is from Venezuela and tells me this is authentic Colombian Empanadas and arepas. My family loves both of these options and go and grab them to eat whenever we are headed out to go shopping or run errands and need a mea. Amazing finger food for the car or if you want to stay and eat it there, there are picnic tables. There is more to menu to explore but we haven't gotten that far but are looking forward to it. Ordering: We give her a call at her number on her Facebook page and order and pick it up because she makes everything fresh. Committed to try local fare when I travel for work and this read like it might be worth a try…read more I'll start with I ordered more food than I should eat. I planned to take some back to the hotel for later. The Fish and Shrimp Soup arrived piping hot and garnished with lime, cilantro, rice, chiles, and onions to just enhance the experience. Adding a robust squeeze of the lime made the aroma pop and it woke up the senses! Floated the chiles and added a couple spoons of the cilantro to steep. It was everything that I hoped for. The fish and shrimp (plenty) shared the headliner perfectly. The fish, was crisp yet flaky and stood up to the bath in the broth. In a supporting role, let's talk about the hearty vegetables including cabbage, celery, potatoes, carrots and tomatoes. Every bite was a different blend of flavors and textures all complimenting a broth that had obviously been on the stove for quite some time. There would be nothing left when I was finished. I also ordered one of my personal favorites when it's Mexican food on the menu; Chiles Rellenos. These too were served piping hot. Served with a stack of tortillas, a side of beans and rice. The presentation was not noteworthy but the taste was soon to separate this dish from other pedestrian Chiles!! The ground beef filling was well seasoned and not greasy like others that I have had. The batter lost a little to the cheese and the green salsa (added), but was a complete flavor when cut into each full bodied bite. The sides, some tortillas and some chips (along with some more green salsa) made the cut to ride with me back to the hotel. Chased down with a Modelo Negra it was a fantastic experience. The service and ambiance was everything that others have highlighted so I won't give it much air here. You will/should come for the food. You will be glad you did because of the service and the vibe! I will be back when my work brings me to Killeen.

There truly is no comparison to the food in DR vs the States however I was eager to check them out as they were highly recommended by my Airbnb host. For a plate of stewed beef (3/4 cup), arroz con grandules (1/2 cup), maduros (1 fried plantain), verde ensalada (1 tomato slice, 1 cucumber slice and 1/3 cup of iceberg lettuce), and tamarind drink came to $26. For lunch, for 1 person, I felt that per the quality of the meal it was overpriced. I have paid less in Washington Heights and or the Bronx, NY. The beef although seasoned well was super dry, everything else was okay but did not wow me. I usually tip however, I felt the meal did not impress nor cause me to want to recommend or visit again. I will say the people were kind and hospitable. I believe of they had less on their menu and perfected that with love they would really be something. Welp, that was my 2 cents.
