I've reviewed this place before, but somehow my review got deleted?? I was seen here a few years ago for acne/acne scarring. I had 6 regenlite lasers, which the doctor should have not allowed me to get since they knew it would not yield any results. I was also on retin-A, which apparently inactivates the laser. Retin A was not on the list of medications to avoid, but I am not a medical professional and like others, may not know what an "anti-inflammatory" is. But anyway, I'm on my journey again to restore my skin and what I've heard from other places is that clearwaves is way overpriced. Their erbium laser is like 2k for the full face, where at others it's only 950 for the same. I rely on reviews to guide my purchasing decisions and wanted others to be warned that they need to be careful and almost know as much about the treatment as the facility does so you know if its going to work on you. read more

I've been doing cool sculpting here at ClearWaves and I cannot say enough about Dr Chavez and her amazing staff. As one reviewer noted, this is NOT a med spa; it's a medical practice and you are assured the most professional treatment and results which, yes, may cost a little more, but you are assured of the best treatment and follow-up which is priceless. I am achieving the results I had hoped for. There's no woo-woo here; it's factual and laid out for you piece by piece so when you enter a treatment room you know you are in the most knowledgable hands. They know their job, they make you comfortable, they check in on you continuously throughout the treatment and, in my case, offer the perk of a mini post-treatment that spurs results. They are there to make you succeed in your goals. I travel 2-1/2 hours to the office and it's worth every minute on the road. I know I am going to be greeted and treated by the best staff EVER, in a wonderful space made more comfy with complimentary bottled water, coffee and tea, and small treats. Great experience! I had my eyebrows tattooed with permanent cosmetics years ago. I wanted to switch to microblading instead, which I think looks more natural. Clearwaves removed my old eyebrow ink beautifully and carefully. They were professional, friendly and reasonably priced. I'd highly recommend them. I've had a great experience here removing my tattoos! I'm working on removing a back and hip tattoo. My back tattoo is almost completely gone (I decided to stop treating it because you can't even tell it is there unless you know exactly where to look for it). My hip tattoo needs a few treatments still, but Dr. Chavez was very upfront with how results work at my first appointment, so I knew what to expect. As far as staff goes, Dr. Chavez is wonderful and caring and will answer all of your questions! Staff is good about checking on you and getting the laser done quickly. Office is clean, comfortable, and they offer water and chocolate, so that's important to know. read more

My son was treated at ClearWaves in 2006 for severe acne. It was amazing. I believe it took 4 or 6 treatments. He has rarely had even a single pimple in the years since. His skin is very nice looking, he does have some scaring but even the scaring was minimizby the treatments. My daughter may have a tattoo removed and if she does she will probably go here. On the other hand, I got a quote to remove some cherry angiomas. I then got a quote from my dermatologist. Using the same laser. Clearwaves said it would take at least 4 treatments and was 6x the cost of my dermatologist. I'd also recommend the topical anesthetic for any work you have done. It's an extra charge but well worth it. Really numbs the pain. It's not horribly painful but when they are zapping you 50-100 times in a small area it does sting a lot. read more

I was in Albuquerque for business and went into Clearwaves to try Zerona as a friend was raving about it. After speaking with Dr Chavez about all the options, I tried Vasershape. It worked so well and the experience with the staff was so great that when I returned to DC I sought out a local place and scheduled appointments. Totally different experience, more expensive, extremely uncomfortable and yield little to zero results. They said try Vanquish, so more money, not uncomfortable, no results. When I was in Albuquerque again, I revisited Clearwaves. Awesome results again and everyone was concerned for my comfort given the unpleasant DC experience. What can I say other than I now travel to Albuquerque for Vasershape, cool sculpting, and Vanquish. The knowledge Dr Chavez and her staff display is awesome. They are constantly researching, training, and staying up to speed with the latest and greatest technologies. The professionalism and client care is phenomenal; they are kind, caring, and truly interested in getting the best results for each individual. And the best yet, Dr Chavez personally answers emails and phone calls to answer questions and ensure you are fully informed and know the pros and the cons. Her prices are great too!!! This review is based on customer service, for now. I called this morning on a Saturday. I got a live person!!! Not only was the live person friendly and awake on a Saturday morning she was upbeat and helpful. I am wits end with my daughter's acne. It was not really a problem in high school but now in college it is out of control. I have been sending creams, sending her to light therapy, pills, etc. She watches her diet, drinks water, and exercises regularly so what else can be done. She is scheduled to see a dermatologist, but trying to find the right one is a pain. Most dermatologists in Los Lunas and Albuquerque are into the aging factor of skin. Which at 19 is not a problem for her. I know my insurance will not cover this, and the helpful person on the phone mentioned they do not have a dermatologist but they do specialize in helping with acne. Since my daughter is in school (even this summer) I mentioned that getting up to Albuquerque may be a problem especially when fall semester starts. She stated that it would be no problem. Depending on the consultation, it will be determined if she can visit once a month or every couple of weeks. Much more doable than the light therapy which recommended twice a week! Not easy with a full time student living in Socorro. So her first appointment is Friday! Imagine that, no long wait! I probably could have gotten an earlier appointment, but she has class all week, so Friday it is. I will update my review later. read more

I don't usually write online reviews, but I made an exception for ClearWaves because Dr. Chavez and her staff were fantastic! And for people who are not into reading long reviews, I will just say that it was a great experience, and my eyebrow tattoos are now virtually undetectable to the naked eye after 3 to 4 treatments. Last year I opted to get permanent eyebrow tattoos, which I felt was the best solution for my middle-aged thinning brows (it was not!). After a couple months of unsuccessfully trying to fix/remove them myself (which only made it worse!) I reached out to Dr. Chavez via email in desperation. She took the time to write me a personal email, which convinced me I should at least go in for a consultation. When I went in for my consultation, I was immediately struck by Dr. Chavez's complete honesty and professionalism. She explained the process and the difficulty of removing cosmetic inks. She did not set unrealistic expectations and explained that this might not be a quick fix. She also explained potential side effects, like potential skin darkening. She started with a small test area to see how my skin would respond, and I believe I waited a couple weeks before beginning treatment. Any skin darkening I may have experienced was short-lived. The layers of cosmetic inks disappeared with each treatment, transitioning from brown to auburn to yellow and finally back to normal skin tones. I am so thankful I took a chance on ClearWaves!
