I would put 0 stars if possible. Their customer service is the worst I have experienced. I requested a change that literally takes less than 60 seconds to complete. Do not use this service. I made the mistake of contracting with this company for my business and it has been a disaster. Their service is unreliable and their tech team seems unable to understand the programming of the portal. I am sure there are better options for VOIP services. I thought I would update my review. I am finally into the last year of our contract and the service continues to be awful. Actually, the phone service is good, it's the portal team who is untrained and unreliable. Once again their tech team has failed to update our voice message for my business for our holiday weekend. This has happened almost every holiday. It's not right that I have to call my office to confirm the message was changed since I've received a confirmation that they have changed it. Instead of the holiday message playing, it is playing our regular business message as if we are open and on our lunch break. This company is painful....they have major issue with their portal. No one seems to understand how it works and unfortunately you are forced to rely on them to make updates when you need a change. The only positive thing I can say is that their employees are friendly but when you are dealing with an incapable company, all the friendliness in the world can't make it right. read more

I just got a past due bill from Clear Rate Communications. Who is Clear Rate Communications, and why are they billing me!? I called their customer service line and the first girl was short with me. I nicely explained that I didn't know who they were, and I didn't know why they were billing me. She began to tell me details about when my wife supposedly "authorized" their services, including dates. I responded that I was positive that my wife never authorized anything, and I nicely asked if there was some sort of proof like a recording. To my surprise the girl stated that there was a recording, and asked to put me on hold while. After holding for 7 minutes, she hung up on me! I called back and went through the same process. The second rep didn't hang-up and came back and said that he had listened to the recording and admitted that there was a mistake. The recording was some random name and person that was NOT me or my wife. He said I could throw away the bill and that he would take care of it. Scary that they just started billing me out of the blue! I am still worried that this bill will end up in collections or hurt my credit in some way. Shady! read more

This has been the worst service ever. They call offering you the same service, but for a better price. Plus was offered to only have to pay $30 for first month by Amanda, that didn't happen. Well guess again, internet was so slow, It took images that customers sent me forever to down load or me to upload to them. I had a customer needing a printing job stand inside my shop for hours just to get his stuff to send to me and then took forever for me to send to my printers. In my job I deal with high resolution images that require having sufficient speed to get them to printers and to my computers. That agreed to void there contract, because they could not take care of my business. I called back old provider they got me back on my internet like next day. Said they had to wait for Clear Raye Communications to release my phone # back to them. Clear Rate still has not released my number back they are trying to charge me for internet that they have not given me since October the 10th, they only had me for about a week if that. They put an automatic voicemail on phone, Had no control on how to regulate or change message. It would grab my phone calls on second ring, so if I wasn't right by phone or with another customer, I would miss the customer calling. Please do yourself a favor if they call wanting to change your service to them DON'T!! This has been the worst experience, and it's so hard for businesses just to switch phone #'s. read more

Absolutely horrible product and service. When it works, it sounds good. But far too unreliable. Phone service traditionally is supposed to have 'five 9's of reliability' which means 99.999% uptime. That equals around 5 minutes of outages a year. This service dies hours at a time weekly. Totally unacceptable for telephone communications. read more

This company preys on the elderly by promising lower bills. They contacted my mother and pressured her on the phone into signing up for their service with a long term contract. The bills started coming, and they were HIGHER, for crappier service. People like this have a reservation for special place in hell. read more

I received a call from Clear Rate attempting to have me change my telephone service to them. I was given all sorts of advantages in doing so. I was asked several yes or no questions, which were obviously ones that I would answer "yes" to such as "can you hear me?" and other verification questions that I answered "yes" to. This caused me to be suspicious about the entire conservation, and wound up telling the Clear Rate agent I was not interested in changing to their service and hung up. Now, a few days later, I get a letter from them "Welcoming" me to Clear Rate Communications! I immediately phoned their "customer service" phone number and went around and around telling the rep that I didn't sign up for their "service" and demanded, to no avail, to have that "service" cancelled immediately. I now await results, but am concerned whether they will actually cancel this service which I told them I did not want in the first place! read more

My elderly aunt, who has Alzheimer's, had landline phone service through Xfinity, with which she was very happy. Everything was fine until about 3 weeks ago. She stopped receiving incoming calls from anyone, although she could call out just fine. She was unaware of the problem until she contacted a friend who told her that several messages had been left and people were getting worried about her. However, her phone never rang and no messages were ever left. Initially, we thought her phone was bad, but further investigation indicated that her phone was fine and the line, itself, was the culprit. Today, she received a bill from a company she had never heard of and for phone services she never ordered. She called their customer service line and was speaking to an agent when I came into the conversation. According to this company, Clear Rate Communications, they contacted her at the end of August and got authorization for the switch in phone service, just before her problems began. They even claimed that they had a voice recording of it. However, when I asked to hear it, they could not get it to play (Schrodinger's dilemma - is it real or is it not?). My aunt swears she never authorized the switch, and considering her frugal nature, I believe her. They became very resistant to my demands that, with or without physical proof of her authorization, they must cancel the account and switch her back to Xfinity. That is, they argued until I threatened to report them to the FCC and my lawyer. They finally agreed to cancel the account, but refused to disconnect the service until Xfinity formally requests that they port over the number. Xfinity has been notified of the issue. In the meantime, CRC is not getting one penny from us. read more

Do NOT fall in to this trap. This so called service provider has not provided us service since day 1. Our phones and internet, sometimes together, sometimes separately have gone down so many times in the last year I cant even count. They tell me I'm confused when I call to complain and don't ever seem to know why service isn't working. They have come out to replace parts and again really have no idea what they are doing. We are a very small locally owned boutique in Birmingham and without phones we are crippled. Just today we lost phones from 10-2, half of the work day. Last time it was 3 days straight. Out router had to be restored every singe day and their response to that was that they saw us restarting it and wondered why we hadn't called sooner. It has taken so much of my time and is causing us daily anxiety just knowing at anytime we could lose communication. They refuse to let us out of the contract in order to seek out service that works and are also refusing to give me a phone number to a person above their sales manager. One full year of phone/internet nightmare so far. They are more expensive than their functional competitors and if you simply goggle them you will see they have fraud charges a plenty and many dissatisfied customers. They call the elderly and trick them into getting service when they already have a provider and they end up with two bills. That information is also very public. I have never had an experience like this and Im absolutely sick about it. Please never even consider them. read more

They called me and asked to speak with the person who pays the Verizon bill. You think it is Verizon but they later on mention they are another company during the 3rd party voice verification process. I caught it, and by the looks of comments all over the place Im the only that saved myself a lot of time, energy and money by saying sorry, Im not stitching. I asked for their website, they told me they didn't have one so I did a google search, I found in the search results complaint after complaint. Had they just told me upfront without being shady it would have gone a long way to getting this customer. read more

My wife signed up for Clear Rate phone service after a representative from the company told her that Clear Rate would give us a lower price rate that we are now paying our immediate company but all services would stay exactly the same. This was true for the first payment but when our second bill came due there was 21 long distance charges from our son who has cell contract from when he lived in Alaska but now he lives in Washington State, and our daughter who is with the military in conn. but her cell server is from Hawaii when they were stationed there. I told clear rate that we had never had to pay long distance fees from our last server or any other company we were signed with, but the person argued that all servers charge long distance rates from Alaska and Hawaii, That was their first Lie. They said that Alaska and Hawaii was considered international for phone service, plus It states in our contract that Alaska and Hawaii is international. We never received a contract just the first bill. On the back of that bill under long distance information, it only says" Clear Rate utilizes 100% fiber-optic network." That was their second Lie. If you look it up on line Alaska and Hawaii are part of the U.S. and is considered domestic. Canada is considered international. Still clear rate would not budge. When My wife first confronted them over a month ago she told them to stop the service and return us to our last server," Clear Rate had the service switched initially " The woman she was dealing with said that she would take care of that. That was their third Lie, It never happened and we received a bill from the last month that was supposed to be canceled. We told Clear Rate that we would pay for everything but the long distance fees and the month that my wife cancelled. Now Clear Rate said that they are turning our account over for Collection. I have contacted the Attorney Generals Office in Washington State, and the BBB for Michigan. It is not the money involved but the principal, that any company can contact people by phone and feed them a line of b.s. until they are hooked then take advantage of them. My wife is to trusting of a person. I am a 100% disabled combat vet I wouldn't have fell for their crap in the first place. This is wrong and unforgivable. read more

I'd like to give Clear Rate Communications a zero stars! Have you ever heard of a company who will only disconnect with a verbal authorization? My grandmother tried to disconnect her service when she moved into a senior facility that provided her a phone so she no longer needed Clear Rate's service. She sent a written cancellation with her bill for 3 months but they wouldn't cancelled it. When I was finally made aware of the situation, I called them with her and they admitted to getting her cancelation requests but said they only disconnect with a VERBAL authorization - have you ever heard of verbal overriding written and signed? I told them to cancel immediately - and we'd call it good even though she had already paid for 3 months of no service. Nope - they still required payment up to the day of the phone call. I told them - the building they were0 supposedly providing service to has been demolished for 3 months. I should really be getting a refund for the past few months. I asked for a manager, they refused to transfer me. They threatened collections if we didn't pay. I'm reporting to the BBB. read more
