I booked CleanNI to perform a post tenancy clean on my property on Tuesday 30th December 2014.
Firstly, having arranged to meet the CleanNI employees at 9am, it was an inconvenience to wait 40 mins for them to arrive at 9.40am. I then clarified with the employees what exactly I required, my tenants had already left the property in quite a tidy and clean manor but I wanted CleanNI to look at areas that had been neglected such as, rub down skirting boards, vacuum light fixtures, rub radiators, clean the blinds, vacuum dust from corners of rooms, rub the banisters spindles and in between as part of the clean. I was assured that this would be completed as part of an in depth clean. When asked about position and location of furniture, I asked them not to move anything as everything had already been moved into the correct positions.
I supplied a key and left the employees to complete the job, considering the house is approx. 1400 square feet I assumed this would take the majority of the day. However, as told by the CleanNI employees they stayed only 2.5 hours. When I returned to the house on Wednesday 31st December to check the work, I was horrified at how little had been done and that my house had been left unlocked.
I discovered that the patio doors in the kitchen had been left unlocked, and one door was actually not even closed correctly. I had not opened these doors but the keys were located in the door and they must have been opened and then neglected to secure them correctly, a massive security issue. I also discovered the main bathroom window had also been left wide open another security issue.
The furniture had also been moved throughout the house, with items from the living room being moved to the hall, hall furniture being moved to the kitchen, and kitchen furniture had been re arranged. Having made it clear I did not want nor require the furniture moved this meant I then to move all the furniture back into its correct locations. I also had to adjust accessories in the house which had been moved throughout the rooms, an unnecessary job.
It then became apparent the distinct lack of cleaning. There was still dust hanging from corners, light fixtures and on skirting boards and the stair spindles. The hall rug had not been vacuumed and was rolled up and "stuffed" under the stairs. The kitchen floor had a large sticky mark on it which was still there after an apparent "deep clean" which suggests the floor had not even been washed. When the foot stool was moved in the living room it was clear that it had not even been vacuumed as I found, a pound coin, lego, crumbs and a hair clip. The crumbs and dust under the sofa also made it quite clear the vacuum had not made it there either. The blinds were still covered in dust and the landing light had large amounts of cobwebs and dust hanging from it. I struggled to see where allegedly 2.5 hours of cleaning occurred.
This unfortunately meant I was required to return on Thursday 1st January to do a job I had employed CleanNI to perform.
Having prepaid £60 to secure the "cleaning' I instructed CleanNI that I would not be paying the remaining £65, and I advised them that I would like my £60 previously paid refunded in full due to the complete lack of cleaning and security, from a company offering professional cleaning services.
Unfortunately felt that £60 of cleaning had been carried out and neglected to comment on leaving the door & window open.
