He coordinated the demo work, worked directly with the insurance company, managed all the equipment needed to clean up and dry out the damage, and made sure every detail was taken care of. I would not use any company whose representative trying to solicit business, decides to walk in an open door after our building experienced a broken pipe causing major damage to multiple units. Water raining down from a collapsed ceiling, three inches of water on the floor of every room of our unit and this guy walks in saying he's doing the remediation work down the hall and have we hired anyone yet. After we told him our insurance company had, he proceeded to tell us, wow you got a lot of damage, you know you're going to have to put all of this in storage and not be able to live here for a while. Told him tell me something I don't effing already know. You have to have big balls of brass to do what this guy did. Here's a tip, don't try soliciting business while someone is in the middle of a catastrophe by pointing out how bad it is and making them feel even more worse than they already do. I cannot speak highly enough of this place. After the rains and flooding we had a month ago, my basement not only flooded with rain water but backed up sewage water! For background I inherited my house recently, and have no idea about the basics of owning a home or what I needed to do in this situation! I also ended up losing a lot of my clothes as the basement is where my laundry machine is. I was absolutely devastated by the whole thing. The wonderful people at clean joe went above and beyond their job - they were so patient with me (let's just say when I first discovered the basement flooded I was a blubbering mess...), and took the time to explain everything. And I mean everything. I spoke with a guy named jay who talked me through They even gave me the name of another company who could come by and help me salvage some of my clothes that had been damaged in the flood! When it came time to assess the damage, they were open and honest with the estimates and understood my cost restraints and situation. Originally I wanted them to come by over the weekend as that's what my work schedule permits, but they explained to me it would cost me more for weekend work and they didn't want me to pay more if I didn't have to. That to me was when I knew I had found the right place to help me out! It took them one day to clean up my basement, as well as removing all the junk (and they tore up the linoleum the previous owner thought was a good idea) that had been damaged. The crew who came over were so nice and professional. They hosed down and disinfected my basement, and left behind a few humidifiers for 3-4 days to make sure everything was dried out after. If you're looking for a service that not only excels in their field, but also in customer service, I can't recommend this place enough. They were very efficient and made the owners of the house have a smooth transition into renovating their property. BAD experience with this company. Made an appointment for 9:00am on 4th of July (2014.) Confirmed that they were open on the holiday. By 9:30am no one showed up and no phone calls. It took two calls to their answering service and another half an hour to get in touch with the owner, Joe. Who began to tell me that it's "not my fault. it's the lady that wrote down your number. She wrote it wrong." I've been calling your for two hours." He told me "Don't be mad at me honey, don't be upset sweetie, I'll turn around and be there in half an hour." I told him I did not appreciate the condescension and he apologized. He did arrive half an hour later and REFUSED to knock a penny off of the price. Not one cent for all the inconvenience he caused me, including waking up early on a holiday and waiting around for him." Apparently his time is valuable, mine is not. Also, when he arrived he saw that the woman who took the order put down an ottoman as well - which I did not have. I would have expected a reduced rate, but he said no, because there is a chase attached to the couch. Given that he clearly had a rate for a piece of furniture that wasn't there plus the 90 minutes I had to wait for him to show up, I should have had a much cheaper rate than what he charged. I'd say $40 off would have been reasonable. Instead, he refused to deduct anything. He seemed like a nice guy, but totally unreasonable and stubborn. I don't like knocking small business, but I unfortunately have to say that I would NOT recommend this company. read more

Our house was damaged badly and we were supposedly going to receive photos of the clean up process so that we could claim the damaged items on the insurance. They did not supply photos, came up with flimsy excuses and were simply awful to deal with. We have never received anything like an apology or acknowledgement. THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS. Our hot water heater expired, and in its expiration left water all over the basement. My plumber came immediately, and as he was replacing the water heater he asked me if I had anyone to clean up the water - and he said, "I know just the guy, and they are excellent." Kudos to my plumber, as he was spot on! Failed to mention that this happened during the torrential rain last week. And, Joe arrived within the hour that my plumber called. My plumber was heading out the door into the rain, and Joe escorted him out with an umbrella to his car. He then checked out our situation, and knowing that we were not prepared for his crew to come that day, he arranged for them to come at noon the next day - which gave us time to sort through the damaged things. Joe also asked for my home owners information, and let me know that he would help get things squared away with them. The next day, all went exactly as expected. Joe was on with my insurance company, who then got the adjustor to come the same day. And his wonderful three man crew came promptly at noon and proceeded to get to work removing the water and disinfecting the basement. To make sure that all was dry, they left their drying machines at our house throughout this past weekend. Like Bruce A, Joe and his team have earned a customer for life, and I've had many a conversation with friends this past week about this great company, and thought that this service deserved a shout out in Yelp. read more

Clean Joe saved our lives (and our books)! Our apartment building burned down and the smoke damage to most of our clothes, furniture and belongings made it impossible to remove from the scene and take with us to our new place. My basement flooded with a sewerage backup this spring. There is nothing more disgusting or disheartening. The quotes for clean-up were beyond my means on a fixed income until I called Clean Joe.. They gave me a price that was affordable. They arrived on time, did a super job cleaning up and removing sewerage damaged items stacked neatly outside for curbside trash day, and finished in a timely manner.What's more, the solvents they used did not leave my house reeking with those ghastly antiseptic smells I experienced in the past.They also cleaned more extensively than competitors and even removed damaged floor tiles (not in the original estimate).
