I did my research when it came to tattoo removal, as I eventually want to get a few more removed. This place had nothing but good reviews, so I decided to go to them. My work schedule is crazy, so John was nice enough to schedule me outside of business hours. My first appointment was great, the procedure itself is not too bad. It only takes a few seconds, but I couldn't handle it very well, so I took a few breaks. Before I left, I made a Sunday appointment that was 1 and a half months from that day. Fast forward to the day of my appointment, John was a NO SHOW. As I waited in the parking lot, I tried every method of communication to try to get through. Facebook, 2 different emails, text, and call. Eventually I left and went home (45 minute drive). I understand sometimes things happen, so I waited. I didn't get a response until an hour and a half later. His assistant said I wasn't even scheduled. He later emailed saying he tried to call me. He was calling a number I had 2 years ago! I updated all my information, including phone number, on the day of my first appointment. He gave me some excuse about the weather and some pipes busting. NOT ONCE did I get an apology from John. Did I mention that I prepaid for my session? I wish things would have worked out, as I know this place is one of the best. But the level of communication was low. So this was my first removal here with john. This was NOT my first removal process for my tattoo removal. My previous experience at a high end day spa fried my foot. My foot turned black. Super satisfied with my results!!! I don't have a shortage of good things to say about this place. Clean, State of the art equipment, affordable, less painful, informative... I could go on and on. Like other reviews I have read, I would consider myself a tattoo removal veteran as well... I have been to 3 others in Houston and gotten the same over-priced treatment, the same lack in results and them treating 2 totally different color tattoos with the same lasers EVERY time. As a former client of Dr.Tatoff I was really eager to find somebody that had the right tools and the right price to begin my tattoo removal after two years. John was very knowledgeable and gave me the rundown that sounded rather rehearsed however I could understand because he has so many clients and wants them to truly understand the process of removal and expectations. She made me fill out some paper work and asked for my I.d. Honestly when a guest comes in I believe the front desk really sets the mood. As they are the first person we speak to . after searching all over Houston I decided on clean canvas. Well I'm absolutely glad that I did! I went in today. I had an appointment, of course. For who it may concern, The office was very neat and clean. Bathroom was tidy . love the way john sat down and explained to me the different type of inks from professional to home made , Indian inks etc. It was so much information and knowledge he gave me I almost felt like I took a class! I love how he was realistic. He doesn't sell you dreams or tell you what you want to hear and he actually does this because he enjoys it. I can tell it isn't a job to him, it's clearly a passion! We talked for so long I felt like I was sitting in his home on the couch . He's so very genuine, down to earth, intelligent , knows what he's doing and the icing on the cake is he's very handsome hey John ! LOLLL had to put that in there! Let's get to the good stuff. Well the session had some pain of course but it was over so fast AND as of right now the area doesn't even hurt. No blistering , no burning etc. really can't wait to get the tattoo fully removed but patience . I will be following up in 6 weeks for my second session. We will see how many session this will take . Quick update... it's been about 5 years since I first had Clean Canvas treat my tattoos (4 total). I've taken a few extended breaks due to pregnancy, relocations, etc. My last treatment was about 2 years ago. I'd figure I've have about 2-2.5 yrs of visits once you take out my breaks. In that time, two tattoos are gone to my satisfaction. I have two that still need some additional work. I plan to start that back up soon. I had a bird on my back. All that's left there is a small area with faded blue ink. The other is a faded black dragon. The tattoo artist went too deep on the dragon and scarred my back. John's laser treatments have actually helped smooth the scarring. I know every tattoo is different for results and treatment time varies but John is very transparent about expectations. He will also recommend things to help the process (like the sauna) and if you follow his recommendations you'll be better off than where you started. read more

Like many others, I was a victim of the UnInk scandal. I had noticed after several treatments with them that my tattoo was taking a long time to fade and I had extreme amount of swelling, but since I hadn't done a lot of research previous to getting treatment, I did not know that this wasn't normal. After UnInk went out of business, I found myself wondering what I was going to do because my tattoo was still very dark and hardly faded and I was out quite a bit of money. I got an email from Clean Canvas Laser saying they were taking over clients from UnInk and I was thrilled!! Since I had purchased the Unlimited treatment package from UnInk, of course, it would not be fair for CCL to honor that. However, after talking to John at CCL and explaining my situation, he offered me a great price to start doing treatments with him. I got my 6th treatment today at CCL and I have to say that I'm very happy with my results thus far! I have seen more improvement with these 6 treatments than I ever did with UnInk. Clean Canvas "acquired" UnInk Tattoo Removal patients in early 2014. Letters were sent to all UnInk clients stating Clean Canvas would be honoring prepaid packages we bought from UnInk, but not the "unlimited guarantee", which is understandable. After being on the phone for over half an hour, I find out Clean Canvas has all my medical/tattoo information from UnInk but conveniently is missing the one page that shows I had a prepaid package (even though they could somehow confirm how much I paid UnInk and how many sessions I've had thus far). When I offered to bring my documentation showing I've paid for X amount for 12 estimated sessions, the gentlemen did not care and kept saying he doesn't have the documentation to show I had a prepaid package. Needless to say I'm out thousands of dollars and Clean Canvas is weaseling their way out of honoring a prepaid package that they legally acquired. Shameful business practice. read more

I don't make hasty decisions about anything especially when it comes to spending money on something I don't know anything about. The first place I went to interview about getting my tattoo removed was clean canvas. John talked a little longer than I would have liked about the process and what makes them different and encouraged me to go and visit other clinics before deciding on who I would be forward with. So I did. I was amazed that he didn't put pressure on me to start right then and even more amazed when another place tried to get me to pay for all of the treatments they were estimating up front.
