Years went by and then they started bothering me on and off. After a routine cleaning from my dentist recently, one of my wisdom teeth really bothered me and I was referred to Dr. Attia's team. I called and they were able to schedule me on the same day for a consultation. The staff are very friendly and professional. Everyone at the office had a smile and were patient. X-ray was done on site and a smooth, quick process. I thought I might have needed the extraction that same day but Dr. Attia did a thorough assessment and reassured me that it could be done later. I was scheduled 2 days later for the extraction. I needed all 4 removed so I was sedated. Dr Attia and his team provided clear instructions, including a print out, of how to prepare for the procedure and what to expect afterwards, including driving and home care instructions. They answered all my questions clearly and were available by text/phone, providing helpful reminders. The sedation and extractions went smoothly, all done within an hour, without any issues and pain-free!!! They provided a very detailed and helpful handout on what to expect hours and days after the procedure, and how to mitigate pain, swelling, bleeding, etc. I had a follow up one week after my appointment when Dr. Attia checked that things were healing well and he shared some details about my procedure and my wisdom teeth. I understand that mistakes happen, but no one called or contacted me to let me know there was an issue with my appointment. I'm also confused about how I was scheduled for Monday, September 21, if consultations are only done on Thursdays. Had I not called, I would have taken time off work, driven two hours, and shown up just to find out I was never scheduled correctly. For context, I have a decaying wisdom tooth that is causing unbearable pain, and I've already been trying to get it removed for the last six months. Now my consultation is being pushed back, and after that, Medi-Cal approval can take another four to six weeks. The healthcare system already feels like an uphill battle, and mistakes like this just prolong someone's pain and suffering. This was extremely disappointing and aggravating.

I thought I was waiting to fall asleep the whole time and was wondering how come I'm not falling asleep. But they said the procedure was done. I am really surprised and impressed with the process and the whole procedure. It is now 10:25am back at home and I feel normal. Not feeling any pain...yet. Hope it stays this way. If you're one of those people that have a phobia of seeing the dentists, trust me you don't have to be nervous about coming here. Dr Takahashi and his staff is perfect. Update: 1 day post-op and I feel normal. No swelling and no bruising. The night before might jaw was a little sore, barely noticeable but I think that's only because my mouth was opened for about 30 min and the Dr had to work around it. First impression, awful, and it was all downhill after that. Mind you I was charged extra because it was a "periodontal cleaning". I have insurance which is supposed to cover cleaning and X-Rays, still I paid over 200 out of pocked. I still got a bill for more money this week. I guess that based on the great Yelp reviews, they had an off day. We scheduled our first appointment for a complete examination, and Dr. Ryan was incredibly thorough. They took X-rays and carefully scanned each tooth to determine what needed to be done. Of course, there were some dental issues since we had not visited a dentist for the previous couple of years. Dr. Ryan created a treatment plan for us, but he never pressured us or rushed us. He allowed us to proceed at our own pace and on our own schedule. Dr. Ryan is extremely precise and takes great pride in his work. For example, when fitting a crown, he would not accept even a 0.2 mm difference and preferred to have the crown redone rather than compromise on the fit. His attention to detail is exceptional. He is also very knowledgeable about the connection between overall physical health and dental health. When appropriate, he encourages us to consult with our family doctor, which gives us even more confidence in his care. He has truly earned our trust. The staff is wonderful as well. They are friendly, caring, and treat us like old friends. One time, I visited on my birthday, and they surprised me with a gift and many warm birthday wishes. It was such a thoughtful gesture. He reviewed pictures from my dental history before coming in to examine me. Dr. Ching sat down and reviewed my medical history with me and asked what I wanted out of treatment, as this affects my treatment plan. He talked with my mom and I for 15 minutes or so giving us information and answering questions before he ever looked in my mouth. He seemed very thorough yet gentle in his examination. I felt very at ease and able to trust him, and I will be returning here for surgery next month, and may have an update at that time. UPDATE: I've had 3 surgeries now by Dr. Ching, and my high opinion of him stands. I experienced very little pain with my gum grafts. The nitrous oxide was free upon request, and he was very understanding of my laughter in the middle of the procedure. I chose not to take the antibiotics he prescribed prior to each surgery (as a precaution) and he was perfectly okay with me making that choice, rather than giving me a bad time for not following his directions as a narcissistic doctor would. He's a very caring man, and wanted me to come back for a final checkup. He asked me to bring pictures of the wedding, since it was after the fact. Caring, knowledgeable, gentle. The office staff is just as friendly. They seemingly remember anyone they talk to. My last visit he asked if I had any questions, and I asked him about proxabrushes, since the ones a previous periodontist had given me were helpful. He loaded me up with a bunch for free so I should be set for a few years, anyway (these things cost like $2-3 each at Walgreens). I definitely recommend him to anyone!
