High safety standards, clear safety protocols that are well enforced, pleasant (and interesting!)…read moreoffice personnel. Far more realistic place to train than inside a tidy little box indoors, too! I booked time for a private lesson with Mike Pressley. After spending 40 years as a teacher of both sports and academic things, I have to say that Mike is one of the best teachers and coaches I've ever had the pleasure to study and practice with. His instructions were paced with patience to how I could learn best (aka, ve-e-e-e-e-e-ry slowly, lol). I'd grown up firing long guns with great precision in different scenarios still and moving but that was decades ago. More recently, I'd had some lessons in short gun but from someone I thought was a not-so-great teacher a few years ago, so I asked Mike to start from scratch as if I'd never held a gun before. The more he taught me, minute by minute, the worse that other teacher seemed, and by the end, I knew he'd been a rotten teacher. That's despite the fact that he was a veteran of many years in the police including S.W.A.T. and special operations, but high skill levels do not always equal great teaching ability, do they? By contrast, Mike's instructions were clear, precise, patient, kind, and constantly adapting to the microns of progress I made with each round of five. By the end of our lesson, all my shots were in the center, and for someone who scored a D- in high school geometry, that was darn close to a miracle! Or great teaching. Yep, it was that one, great teaching. I'll be practicing most weeks at this range, and will study again with Mike soon.

I remembered one of my coworkers telling me about a Range in Sophia he wasn't sure the name but remembered triple, so i googled it. Headed down on a sunday , enjoying the drive through the country. Down a long gravel road was I found the check in office, I was met by two Friendly and welcoming people. They assisted me getting checked in/ paying and such and explained the range rules after asking what i would be shooting. They explained in good detail where to head. I headed to the pistol range and showed up at a great time because the range was currently cold and was able to hang my target and converse with some other patrons. Shot some decent groups at 20 yards after not shooting a pistol for 12 years. At check out i was again greeted kindly, i inquired about the ccw classes and went ahead and signed up for that. I will definitely be coming back and can't wait till then.

I can't say enough about Wes Reese and the North Carolina Concealed Carry certification course…read moreoffered through Reese Firearms. Being both a veteran and someone that had previously gone through concealed carry certification in another state, you can imagine how excited I was NOT to sit through more fairly basic-level training. I couldn't have been more wrong. Wes is one of the most knowledgeable individuals you will ever meet when it comes to firearms and the relevant NC laws. Additionally, he makes some otherwise dry material interesting and funny, and is very engaging with the class. The videos Wes used to supplement the material were mostly funny, but were very relevant to the subject matter and the humor just made the material all the more memorable. Pizza lunch was delivered by Pizza Hut at 11:15 and Wes just kept rolling through the material while we ate. Shortly after lunch, a guest speaker from US Defense Shield spoke to the class about carrying legal protection in the event you ever find yourself in a self-defense situation, firearm or not, and how you plan to defend yourself criminally and civilly after the fact (because you will have to regardless of what happened, and how). Once again, very thought provoking, and not something most folks consider. The classroom portion is located in Kernersville and the range is in Thomasville, approximately 25-30 minutes away with light traffic. I didn't realize this until I received the confirmation e-mail after I registered, but it wasn't a big deal for me. If that matters to you, don't forget to plan ahead. Range qualification was quick and efficient and the class was dismissed from the range while anyone that wanted to stick around to shoot Wes's arsenal was welcomed. Either way, you leave the range that day with your certificate in hand, ready to join the world as the next concealed carriers (as soon as your local Sheriff approves your application). If you live in or anywhere remotely near the Triad Area, and are considering concealed carry training, there's just no better option than Wes Reese and Reese Firearms.

I took my concealed carry class (CCH) with the team at Practical Arms, what a great day…read more Professional, relevant instruction from active law enforcement professional, professional firearms instructors etc.... I attended the class to get my certificate to apply for the NC concealed carry permit, but I left class with so much more. Most importantly I have a greater respect and understanding of my rights and responsibilities as a gun owner. I left feeling more confident in the operation of my firearm and how to safely handle and care for it. Will be heading back for some of their more advanced classes. Great team of professionals.

Very thankful and appreciative to Practical Arms for the Great experience! I've been around guns all my life and shot them as a kid but never knew fully my responsibilities as a gun owner, enthusiast and now NRA member. Practical Arms instructor/owner made the 8 hr mandatory class interesting. Although I thought i was going to fall asleep, the class was up beat, educational and interactive. From the time I walked into Bass Pro Shop to the time I left the range, the entire journey was well worth the trip, time spent, gas burnt and I can't stress enough educational. If you're looking for a fundamental course to satisfy your CCH, I highly tec
