I'm definitely not lame for reviewing my favourite ETH mensa (cafeteria).
Despite being a cafeteria, this one is definitely more on the 'deluxe' side, serving Asia-related food (not quite Asian). Some people come to avoid the student mass at lunch time, but that's definitely not the only reason to come here. Lunch consists of three options: meat, veggie, and stir-fry which change with the daily menu. Each is named to represent one Asian country, but as far as I can tell, there's very little connection between the food and the country it's named for. But you get the idea, they serve "Asian" food (curry, tofu, stews, and recently, even some kind of bubble tea that would never be recognized in Taiwan).
If you're touring the city center or passing by ETH for some reason, I'd definitely recommend this for a cost-effective meal. The price for the daily menu is CHF 8.5 or CHF 12.5 for the stir-fry. Now, that's the price for students, so if you're an ETH employee or outsider, it'll be a bit pricier... maybe 3-5 francs more. The meat/veggie options are typically so-so but the on-the-spot stir-fry is pretty good (and not so subsidized so you'd pay about the same as students). The Asian chef looks quite seasoned and sometimes puts on a good show with the flame :D.
Unfortunately, meals are only served during lunch time. There was a period when they tried out dinner but I guess it didn't really work out and it's discontinued now. read more
