No tests run, didn't listen to most of what I said. A month later I returned because the headaches hadn't gone away. She didn't even examine me and gave me another migraine medicine. Last week I went to another doctor. She ordered a cat scan first thing. Turns out that I have a severe sinus infection... never mind that this was one of the things I suggested to Dr. Kissinger on my original visit, which she promptly dismissed. Gee, I wonder if it was as severe THREE months ago when Dr. Kissinger should have caught it to begin with!? If you want a quality, thorough doctor, try Dr. Anne Suh (also reviewed on yelp). She's at a different practice in the loop and is VERY thorough and willing to listen and get to the bottom of the problem.

I misjudged the weight of a crate and ouch, that hurt. I assumed it was a simple muscle strain, but I'm no physician. Dr. Weiler, however, recognized my symptoms as consistent with a more serious injury and, thanks to her and her very professional staff, I had an X-ray, an MRI and saw a specialist, all within four days of my initial visit with her. There's no way I could've achieved all these appointments on my own. It's only because of Dr. Weiler and her staff that I got in to see a specialist that very same week. UPDATE: Within 10 days of that first appointment with Dr. Weiler, I learned I'd suffered a 95-percent separation of my bicep, and had the surgery necessary to correct it. Yes. All within 10 days. If not for Dr. Weiler, the injury I mistook for a simple strain could've very easily become so severe that even surgery wouldn't have been an option. Besides that, the specialist to whom she referred me was among the best of the best. Another win for Dr. Weiler. She's got a lot of those.

I've got three issues going on between two hands -- not fun -- and I had a great experience for my first visit here. Upon walking in, I was quickly checked in by the professional, polite, expeditious front desk staff. Amanda the technician came out to get me within 10 minutes of my arrival -- the office runs on time! Amanda was super-professional, very knowledgeable and experienced, and kept the ball rolling. Dr. Kalainov was quick to arrive to my patient room and was already up-to-speed on my new case, thanks to the front desk, Amanda and Northwestern's MyChart system. He's very friendly and has excellent bedside manner, and is clearlly an expert in his field...He quickly inspected my conditions, asked me questions and answered my questions in lay terms and in detail and left me with no doubt that I was in the right place. He then called Amanda back to take me for x-rays and off I went. She took me to another technician at the down-the-hall (within their offices) X-ray department. The gentleman there was gentle, highly expert in his field, expeditious, and professional. I had quite a few images taken but he made it seem like I was only there for a few minutes. Amanda escorted me back to my room. Within minutes, Dr. K. was back, having already examined the pictures. He addressed each of my three issues and provided in lay terms and details my options and his recommendations. He answered a few questions, and we proceeded quickly with one procedure to eliminate one of my hand problems. I felt nearly no pain, it was over quickly and he explained everything, prognosis, future considerations, etc., in detail. Then, Dr. K. had Amanda take me to the end-of-the-hall prosthetic/brace department where there was a team of four technicians/clinicians each with a different patient getting fit with one kind of brace or another. The technician who cared for me was Hadassah, and she, like Amanda and Dr. K., was so very obviously an expert in her field and provided professional, friendly, thorough, complete care for the issue on my right hand and the brace I required. As I left, the doctor thanked me in passing and Amanda handed me documentation, information, etc. The front desk quickly expedited my check out. Unfortunately my hand woes are not over, but fortunately I'm working with a top-notch surgeon and team!

My coworker didn't believe it, but Dr. Betman guided her to the ER, where they confirmed it was a heart attack. My coworker told me this story, and we both agree: Dr. Betman is the kind of life-changing doctor you want in your corner for life. A few other things I appreciate: she takes many insurance plans, is a women's health expert, teaches at Northwestern University, and refers out to excellent specialists (who also work with a wide range of insurance). Unlike most doctors, she takes the time to answer every question and treats every concern seriously. Over the years she genuinely gets to know you and cares about you -- almost like the small-town doctor you'd see in a movie. The busy office staff is perfunctory... they're not going to win awards for being "nice," as other reviewers have mentioned. The office is located off of St. Clair in the Northwestern Memorial building (and there is validated parking available); the office is very cute, clean, and modern, and I waited less than 10 minutes after my scheduled time (which is pretty much unheard of; the receptionist also apologized which I thought was ridiculous!). I filled out basic medical history and such on their patient portal beforehand, which I thought was quite convenient and makes things more efficient. I was really excited with all the raving reviews on not only on Yelp, but on other health websites that rated Dr. O'Mara. When the doc walked in, she was extremely nice, very knowledgeable, straightforward, a great listener, gentle, professional, and very informative. She listened to all of my health issues as well as my thoughts and opinions, and basically gave me a plan of action. She took her time with me, asking questions, and the whole time, I was not felt rushed! The best thing is that she was very genuine and I was extremely comfortable, being a new patient with all these high expectations! There is a lab on-site, and the phlebotomist, Lauren P., was so sweet and kind, and drawing blood was not at all uncomfortable (considering I have a very low threshold of pain and am such a pansy!). Dr. O'Mara and everyone on staff seems to be extremely detail-oriented and organized (which I absolutely love). The high ratings on the doc do not do her justice - she really is AWESOME. Dr. O'Mara's office is a clean, modern one-physician practice. She exhibits all of the professionalism and knowledge I have come to expect and appreciate from Northwestern practitioners and affiliates. I was randomly assigned to her through Northwestern's physician referral practice after I suffered a serious medical event and I was shocked by how great my experiences with her have been. My initial consultation was in her office, where she interviewed me about all of my health concerns, family history, and really took the time to get to know both me as a person and my health issues. Despite a relatively complicated health history, Dr. O'Mara has gone above and beyond. She takes the time to research issues about my medicine and listens to my questions, no matter how silly they may seem to me, in a non judgmental environment. She has followed up on problems or before procedures through phone calls about things I, at times, hadn't even thought about. She is always eager to explain these things to me. She truly cares about her patient's well being and happiness -- even following up on what I thought about places she had sent me for a referral. In short, I have never received this level of care with any doctor before. Her assistant, Angie, is also very nice and helpful. To top it off, it's extremely easy to make appointments here, and Dr. O'Mara keeps an electronic portal where you can ask her questions, view your test results quickly, and access other features from your visits.
