Alex is a life saver. I've been receiving acupuncture treatments for a year now. I was suffering from stress, interrupted sleep, and anxiety. I began with weekly treatments and was amazed at how much better I began to feel. Overtime as I improved, I changed my regimen to about every 3 weeks as I felt the healing power of acupuncture work it's magic. What is amazing, I feel more clam and relaxed. I'm sleeping more soundly. Even when life gets crazy, I'm handing interactions with others so much better. I'm able to focus effectively. My emotions are more even-keeled. There are no adverse reactions like those you could experience with medication, etc. Alex is very patient and kind. I feel cared about when I'm in her presence and know she has my best interest at heart. She has an amazing ability to read what I need, even things I have been suffering from for a long time that were buried deep inside. I have been seeing Alex for a number of years and highly recommend her and acupuncture. I was first introduced to the tradition 30 years ago when I tried it in response to an immune issue. I took a break, but found my way back as I recognized how useful it is an an adjunct treatment. Alex primarily treats me for allergies, low back pain, fatigue, and my chronic immune disorder. The first positive effect is simply engaging her--she calms the nerves, comforts anxieties, and relaxes the spirit. She typically uses the traditional needle insertion on me, but sometimes opts for the moxibustion (which I love). I am a lifetime allergy sufferer. Shots, pills...I've done it all. The most dramatic example I can provide of near-instant relief was the time I arrived to her office with congestion that would make the beltway look tame. When I got to my car--my sinuses broke wide open and I was on my way to breathing free. Coincidence? I think not. I am not completely off my allergy medicines, but I can say that I have cut back on them enormously because of acupuncture. Alex is a pro and she successfully treats whatever I complain about. If there is a week without a specific issue, she is always the first with a recommendation. If you are thinking about trying acupuncture, stop and go to Alex. Acupuncture really works, it worked for me as it did for my husband. Alex is great, she makes sure you have your priorities and even if you have several issues with your health/body, she can suggest what to do first. I have asthma and allergies and last summer was the first summer in my life without pills and inhalers, thanks to Alex. I also had painful periods, now it's all gone. When I had cold or flu symptoms, she would switch gears and treat me for that first and then go back for my usual routine. Although, there was not a routine for me really, every time she would do different points and use different technics. The best thing for me was that Alex doesn't push for anything. For example, she offers herbs but it is up to you to decide weather you want to do it. If you say no, she won't offer it in the future and won't stress that you really need to take them. Now we moved to another country and I have to find another acupuncturist but I doubt I will be able to find someone as good as Alex. read more

Alex has been treating me for a couple of months now and I have had remarkable results. I went in for a pain in my elbow and had immediate relief and not only does my elbow feel immeasurably better, but the rest of my daily aches and pains have been resolved as well. I fell and tore my meniscus after I began treatment with Alex. I was having an extreme amount of pain, but was busy with my orthopedic doctor and getting into physical therapy and hadn't been to see her. My experience with Alexandra Knox was excellent. A few years ago, I had debilitating allergies. Every spring, my nose ran constantly. My eyes were half swollen shut. My throat was making me sneeze incessantly. Ms. Knox's first treatment made the acute symptoms bearable and each year she reduced the symptoms more. From four months to four weeks to four days and now just a few hours in an entire sprig. Also I need fewer and fewer treatments. The first year I came a lot in the spring and fall in addition to supplementing the treatment with Chinese herbal medicine. Now I have a couple treatments in the fall and a few in the spring. Also I barely need any pills anymore. Unfortunately, my insurance does not pay for the treatment, but having my spring back is worth it. read more

Alex is awesome! I wasn't feeling right for months but there wasn't a clear medical diagnosis. But I knew I was "off" and needed to do something. I've been seeing Alex for a while for a variety of issues, and she's wonderful! To illustrate her skills, I recently pulled my neck and could barely move.
