First off I must say this is the most beautiful well thought out Martial Arts facility that I have ever been to. The school has a rich history and the Instructor Master Pat Carey is excellent and knowledgeable in both Hapkido and Taekwondo. The entire organization is very courteous and welcoming both students and Instructors. It can be difficult to find a Dojang teaching true and pure Hapkido that is not hybridized with Taekwondo but the school does a great job of keeping the two arts separate. I highly recommend anyone interested in an Excellent traditional Martial Arts program give World Martial Arts a try.

He provided us with information to the program along with the mental and physical benefits of TKD. Master Moon (and his team) are extremely patient, energizing, fun and serves as strong mentors to the community. We joined a year ago and my two kids continue to love going to class. If you're looking for an activity for your kid(s) that provides physical activity and confidence building this is a great option! Master Moon and Master V go out of their way to ensure the class sizes are small, each child is supported and encouraged and the kids are given an enriched experience. My kids are so proud of their achievements and have the belts to prove it! If you're looking for an activity or a discipline you want to invest your child into consider Master Moon's TKD, your child will grow more secure, disciplined and invest in their mental and physical health. Master Moon and ALL of the staff are considerate and thoughtful investors into our community and the well being of our kids! I highly recommend you consider enrolling your kid(s)! My son and daughter attend class together as they have advanced in their belt achievements at a similar pace. As a busy parent it is a bonus to bring both my kids (two year apart in age) to the same activity! I trust the values my children are learning from Master Moon's establishment!

Martial Arts was not something that my wife and I had ever considered for our family, but we decided to give it a try. I am so glad we did! The Little Tigers program is absolutely amazing! My son absolutely loves learning TKD, and as parents, my wife and I are constantly impressed with the life skills he has learned at MMTKD. Focus, Team Work, Respect, Self Control, Goal Setting, and Patience, to name a few, are taught from Day 1 by Master Moon and his Amazing Team of Instructors. After the first year, MMTKD held a "Family Month" where Moms, Dads, and siblings could join students in class for free. My two daughters and I jumped at the chance to give it a try. Since then, TKD has become a huge part of our family's life. My 10 year old daughter loves the supportive instructors at MMTKD. The instructors use a "praise, challenge, praise" approach when working with their students and it really makes a difference. My 13 year old daughter really enjoys the physical challenge of TKD. Learning the different forms and techniques continually challenges her and keeps her coming back! For me, TKD is not just a chance to workout, but an opportunity to spend time with my kids doing something healthy and positive. There are so many things about MMTKD that are special and worth mentioning... I feel that a simple review cannot do it justice. Come and check it out for yourself. I promise you will be impressed!

I moved to the Twin Cities in early June, so I haven't been here all that long. But I have spent a…read morelot of time at a bunch of other martial arts places including FLO MMA in Chicago and Pacific Ring Sports in Oakland. So when I say this place is something special, I really mean that. For the boring setup stuff: The do jahng itself is effectively in a converted loading dock, so there's a crazy amount of space for classes to be held. The flooring is setup using semi-foam stuff like children's playmats, but it's almost as solid as normal wood flooring or carpet without being hard if you were to actually fall. Easy to jump on stuff, that kind of thing. Standard blue mats are brought out for added safety and comfort for falling / rolling / throwing when those particular drills come up. Various equipment that you'd see in any other boxing or martial arts studio, with weapon racks for the upper-belt forms and training (Not touching without permission kinda goes without saying). There's also a pretty good viewing area for parents to see their kids in class if they would like, but please be mindful of people working in the space, since your voice does travel. For the KSW-specific stuff: SBN Steffen and SJN Nicki are pretty great people in general with a pretty nice sense of humor about, well, everything. As someone who goes primarily to the adult class at night (Which starts at 8PM, so even if you get stuck at work it's fairly easy to get to, I don't interact with the kids that often, but the kids themselves are surprisingly well behaved during things like belt tests and the monthly promotion potluck. Which goes into the atmosphere. One of the things that I never really received in my other martial arts classes was something beyond, for lack of a better phrasing, form and technique drilling. KSW here has a strong emphasis on the traditions of KSW as well as making sure you're generally just a good person. Adult class specifically (I'm pretty sure the kids do this too, I just can't speak from experience) starts off with a discussion of the topic of the month (Last month was integrity, the month before was courage), and SBN typically breaks the topic down in small parts over the course of the month while relating it to something either personally relevant or more topical (The last integrity discussion he read The Oatmeal's Columbus Day comic, citing Matthew Inman as his integrity hero). It's actually my favorite part, and I have a feeling it's what contributes to the overall controlled tempo of the environment. The last reason I love this place relates more to my wife than anything else. She has spent a large portion of her life doing and teaching group fitness and personal training, yet after a fairly poor Tae Kwon Do experience at our undergrad, she refused to even entertain martial arts (in short, higher-belts exerted poor control when sparring and there was "punishment" not by pushups but by belt hitting and punching). So the first week I went, she was completely terrified about starting martial arts again. What if they were mean? What if it's too hard (Which I find weird, because she invents absurd tabata workouts all the time for herself)? Since we started going, she absolutely loves the workout intensity, bringing a lot of the things she has learned into her own workouts. Both of us completed our first belt test this weekend. She's excited to do more, and is more than willing to keep going even if I'm not there. Seeing that change is more than a simple 5-star review.

Unfortunately, we also felt a lack of personal connection and encouragement from leadership unless a student was already achieving top results. In our experience, meaningful engagement and motivation should be consistent for all students, regardless of their current performance level. We also encountered a culture that felt exclusive and, at times, unwelcoming--especially between different locations. This, combined with high costs (including additional fees for competition participation), made us question the overall value. Since transitioning to a new dojang, we've already seen a positive change in our child's confidence and enthusiasm. While we wish we had made the move sooner, we're grateful to have done so now. We hope this feedback is taken constructively and helps improve the experience for future students and families.
