Dr. Pope and his vet tech staff are the BEST! We've been using their wonderful, professional…read moreservices for 12+ years and the care and treatment they've provided our furry family has been excellent - ALWAYS! They have kept our dogs healthy and happy for many years. We had to take our little girl, Angie, in yesterday for what we thought was a UTI, but unfortunately, it was so much worse! Dr. Pope patiently explained the (several) x-rays and discussed the prognosis in a very understanding and caring way. It was a difficult decision, but everyone made it a smooth process and Angie went to sleep quietly and happy while we petted her (of course, we had lots of tears). I would recommend Darien Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Pope, and his very experienced tech vets to everyone.

***12/17/25 See update at end as it got worse...not even a half star is warranted*** My complaint…read morehas to do with an aide's use of a 'noose' leash on my dog (these may be OK for small animals but can injure the throat area of a large one), and that I had to pull the dog away from a rather husky aide when she grabbed my dog by the noose to remove him from the table hurting his throat. Recently, I decided to give Dr. Pope a second chance. despite the incident and the exorbitant charges (watch your wallet in this place). After reviewing my chart I was told by the receptionist the next appointment was three weeks off...(the parking lot is always empty). This happened again on a second occasion. More than likely that office has punished my dog for my publicly citing their abuse and incompetence. So much for their character. Subsequently I found a much better veterinary service a little further away in Pine Harbor (Dr. Bailey) where courteous skilled service and reasonable pricing is routine. ***Update*** I just returned from Dr. Pope's office after seeking emergency medical treatment for my dog who seem to gave a glass chard lodged in his paw (see video). Not only was I refused service but I was admonished by the same heavy set lady who mishandled my dog in the first place. When I asked why they were punishing my dog because of my critique she proved she was even uglier than fat sayin that was the price I paid and the consequences for giving them a bad write up...she blackballed my account...the dog could suffer. Unbelievable vindictivity against a defenseless animal. On my way to find another available vet I happened across Dr. Pope as he pull3ed into the lot and explained the situation which drew nothing more than a shoulder shrug from him. All the while I thought it was just his staff that was unconcerned with the dog's well being first and foremost. Apparently the doctor approved of these actions as well. Count on my bringing this matter to the attention of the Georgia State Board of Veterinary Medicine. This practice and provider is horrendous. I did find a wonderful vet who immediately and successfully treated my baby. PS - the video of him limping didn't take, but you can imagine what they let this poor dog endure until we found a conscientious provider.
