Now that I have the power of the internet at my hands I'm about to express how I really feel about this place. My dog Zuberi was coughing up blood one night so I brought him here. We get in and they bring him to the back to check him out, heart worms. The receptionist/assistant I'm guessing, after telling me that he had to be put down, "This is the worst case I've ever seen. You should've taken better care of him, this is horrible." I'm literally in the waiting room after being in the back (or side room, whatever) crying with my dog, and that's what she had to say? The best part: it cost about 300 dollars, for an ER you'd think they have payment plans because you know, you can't plan for every emergency. Not only did it take three people including myself to pay for it, if we didn't pay it THEY WERE GOING TO SEND HIM HOME US LIKE THAT. THEY WOULDVE RATHER SENT HIM HOME WITH ME DYING, THAN SEND US A BILL. I've got choice words for that lady behind the desk but my language on reviews are limited. Don't bring your pets here. If you have a regular vet you go to, chances are if you call them after hours you'll still get in touch with them because they too have emergency lines, if you don't get an answer leave a voicemail. We had an emergency with our sweet baby dog and used this ER as we were out of town. We were treated quickly and efficiently and had our medication in hand. The vet tech was very kind and the vet was very efficient. As a long time pet owner and rescuer, I do understand that emergency services are expensive, and felt the prices were fair. Huge rave for Brunswick Pet ER. We recently took our 14yr old lab in at 1:30am on a Saturday night. She was having trouble breathing due to a growth in her throat and had been gasping for air for several hours. We had already decided her end of life plan but weren't expecting to do it when our regular vet wasn't available. But the growth accelerated faster than expected. The staff at Pet ER were very caring and professional. They let us take our time with her and the transition was smooth and calm. This week we received a very nice sympathy card, which was a nice touch. We're very appreciative that they were available as a resource. I can't imagine what we would have had to experience if we didn't have access to their services. read more

Unfortunately, we've had to use Brunswick Pet ER 3 times in the past couple of years. They are caring and efficient. I wish I could use them for my regular vet but they are only open nights and weekends. Their pricing is reasonable and they present care options clearly and honestly. I'd give them more than 5 stars if I could. read more

During our lifetime my husband and I have taken our dogs and cats to a handful of veterinarians. We hadn't any complaints.Until we came across those at Pet ER. They are blatantly greedy,unfeeling, and unprofessional. They couldn't even get the species of our pet correct. On the medical chart they have our feline furbaby listed as a canine. She was 14 years old and dying of cancer so we thought it best to just end her suffering, but instead we put our trust in the vet assuming that she knew best. She made it sound as though there was hope. If we agreed to leave her there overnight or at least for a few hours of costly treatments during which she suffered unnecessarily in terror. The medical chart states that she was very stressed in clinic and that her temperature drop was possibly due to stress. After spending $387 for IV fluids.We brought her home where she was so much worse than she was when we took her there that hours later we had to bring her back to be euthanized. Having spent four hours alone in a cage, surrounded by strangers,and scared to death with an IV in her paw.Her vein had collapsed and in order to do the euthanasia they had to use the other paw. It was all too sad and unnecessary.So obviously about making money, and not about what was truly best for the patient and the family that loved her. Dr. Strickland showed zero compassion and offered no compensation, but she did see to it that we got a certified letter from the Veterinary Defence Association. I suppose the only hope we have of being compensated for the unnecessary suffering imposed upon our beloved cat,and the images of the terror in her eyes that will remain in our minds rest in the old adage, "Every dog has their day." read more

I recently had to board my dog here over night while I was out of town about to go out of the country on vacation. My dog was staying with my parents and experienced severe respiratory distress not long into his visit that required a visit to the VET and an overnight supervised stay at Brunswick Pet E.R. While I cannot personally attest to the facilities of this business, I can say that I am thankful the staff seemed to provide adequate care for my pet while he was there until I could get from my current location to Brunswick, GA a few hours away. The one experience I can personally speak to is my phone conversation with Dr. Strickland the night my pet stayed at Brunswick Pet E.R. My family phoned me while I was out of town at my request so the Dr could advise a diagnosis and possible treatment options for him over the phone. She seemed very knowledgeable in her practice and diagnosis - so much so that I could hardly get a word in to ask questions. She went on and on to the point I really wanted to ask her to shut up for a minute so I could process all of the information she was providing and ask a few questions. Fortunately I wasn't alone in my observation. Here I was out of town and one of the most important living things to me was being admitted to a pet emergency room for overnight observation and diagnosis because he was in distress - you'd think a concerned pet owner would want the opportunity to ask some questions! The options she provided were all emergency in nature and needed to be implemented immediately. A few other things that are minor, but attention to detail is a big thing for me, especially when it concerns a medical practice. My dog's species was listed as 'Avian' and not 'Canine' on his profile. My family wasn't provided copies of the diagnosis paperwork when they left - I had to leave a voicemail for it and received it by email the following business day. The following day when I received a call that they forgot to give my family the paperwork , I mentioned to the technician over the phone that I had used Wikipedia online to read more detail on the diagnosis and she had no idea what I was talking about. :-\ Like I said, I am very thankful for the care they provided my pet and that they seemed to have his best interests in mind. I would rate that an A+. I would rate Dr. Strickland's 'bedside manner' over the phone when trying to explain a diagnosis to an out of town pet owner as a C-. Improvement needed! Can't believe there's anything less than 5 star reviews for Dr. Strickland and her staff. The techs and front desk were attentive and caring. The admission process was easy and quick. I knew what to expect after the exam and was presented with options for care at whatever level I was comfortable with. Once I chose which I was going to go with (everything, anything to fix my dog who'd been bit by a bad spider)... I signed an estimate and he was treated. They were kind, compassionate, and understanding in that I have a very protective Dutch shepherd that needs to be treated with a "less is more" attitude when it comes to handling. They complimented him and comforted him once he was comfortable around them with love and showed me exactly where the puncture was and how to treat the area. I came back 12 hours later (original visit was 1:30am) and checked as it filled up with fluid on the meds and they assured me it was looking a lot better. I came back the following day (Sunday-- and we brought them coffees to say thank you!) and had them look at the drainage to make sure it was normal... they never once seemed annoyed or bothered. In fact, it was almost as if they'd talked about my dog while i was gone and when we came back they were Excited to see him! And the people who hadn't met him asked if it was him by his name. I can't stress enough how important it is to take your pet in AS SOON AS YOU FIND A PROBLEM. And be thankful they're there,.. through holidays, weekends and late nights... it's a hard job. Dr Strickland saved our dog's life. We were visiting Jekyll Island when our dog began throwing up and was lethargic. We originally took her to another vet in Brunswick, who diagnosed her with pancreatitis, but thankfully recommended we hospitalize her overnight at Brunswick Pet ER so she could get IV fluids overnight. Dr Strickland took one look at the blood work results that the previous vet had run, and said that the thought this was something more serious than pancreatitis, and pushed us pretty hard to take our dog to Jacksonville the next day for a specialist ultrasound. At first I resisted, but she was insistent - and she was 100% right. The next day we found out that our dog had a gall bladder mucocele and that she needed immediate surgery. Thankfully our dog is now recovering and I am so grateful to Dr Strickland for her excellent diagnosis, and for really pushing me to take our dog for the ultrasound. She is an excellent vet. read more

This place is a fing joke so I called to see where they were located and this Richard Burns answer the phone and tells me there is an hour wait because they are backed up I said that's fine it will take us an hour to get there coming from hortense right well we pull in the parking lot and not a car in site so we go in still no one inside with animals and now I am piss cause you lied to me like I wasn't going to wait an hour to get my pet help cause she sick wrong I would wait 2 hours so then he is just rude as hell then they want so much money to do stuff that is crazy and I know it's after hours but 500.00 for blood work and X-Ray is a little extreme i told him maybe I should of walked in backwards so next time oh wait there will never be a next time I will drive my ass to Savannah or Jacksonville pretty much anywhere except Brunswick Pet ER!!!!! I am so mad right now!!! Matter of fact I wouldn't give them one star more like negative stars!!!!! read more

Personally I wouldn't believe anything the staff or doctors say. Their stories change constantly -- to the point that they can't remember what they've said from previous conversations pertaining to the services or interventions rendered to the pet left in their care. Their fees are excessive and their tactics are meant to intimidate customers. Their primary interest seems to be in Money-- so this makes me doubt or question the care and treatment my pet received or possibly did not receive. I will not use this facility again --- I will drive to Jacksonville or somewhere else that is not connected to this facility in anyway shape or form. read more
