Plenty of selection!!! I went in for a top hat. The selection of color and sizes were plentiful. The service as slow at first. The sales guy warmed up very quickly. Based on the location, a couple of blocks south of Burnside, I think he's weary of people walking into his store. Once we started discussing what we were looking to purchase he warmed up and was very helpful. This place has practically any kind of hat you're looking to purchase. The prices are reasonable. I finally made it here! It's a worthy stop to find a quality hat, which we all need. Let's bring back the hats!!! I was taken care of by the owner. He was great and listened to me and what I did and didn't like. That really honed it down to a few options quicker than expected. I choose what I liked and asked if I could grab a bite to think it over. He was kind and stated "of course". After a bite, I returned. 2017 is here and it's time to get off my butt and catch up on some reviews. I have been to both locations of Classic Collection many times, but finding something I like is a different story. Over the past three years I have gotten into better quality hats and my standard (and I happen to own eight hats) is Goorin Bros. CC has nice hats and actually a wider selection than Goorin Bros. but mostly aren't my style. So to actually find one I like is surprising. I like the paperboy/ chauffeur hats and I have been searching for one in a certain color. Green. For some reason, hat companies haven't been making them in that shade and I have no idea why. Apparently, that's changed. Goring Bros. added a dusty green one and CC added a dark green wool hat and that is what I found on my last visit there and for only $28.00. Not bad. The downtown location is small but they have it stocked full of hats and other accessories. The staff mostly leaves you to wander the store but is readily available if you have questions. Only hat shop I've ever been able to find with a decent collection of hats to fit my tiny head. I used to love the Classic Collection shop at the Clackamas Mall. Turns out that one is closed now, and this one is open. Kind of a hidden away location downtown, but it's nice to see they still carry a huge selection of hats. read more

A gem of a store if you are looking for a hat of any kind from facinator to top hat. The woman working there was friendly and helpful. Great selection of hats/beanies/head coverings! Stopped in on a rainy day to attempt to save my curly beasts from morphing straight into Medusa's prides. There are plenty of hats to choose from. Staff was friendly helping this hat newbie out and even offered to adjust a hat to snug it up a bit for my partner whose head is less endowed then mine. The wonderful lady who helped me showed me some beautiful hats that would fit everyone's budget. From simple materials to the 100% wool with a lining. I've been on a quest for a sharp looking hat for about a year now. I have a small head (I'm petite all around) so I have trouble getting hats that do not look like they came from children's wear. This magically appears as I'm on my way to a restaurant. Talk about serendipity! She has felt hats, page-boy hats, Derby hats and my beloved stream punk hats. A true gem of a store. What a charming find for an impromptu stop! I decided to take a look since I had been meaning to find a cloche hat. As it turns out, Classic Collection is a fantastic hat shop that has a big selection and very reasonable prices. I was greeted by a very friendly sales lady (also note..I think this was 10-15 minutes to closing, I didn't realize because it stays light out later in the being in Portland than what I'm used to) and asked if there was anything specific we were looking for. As a true petite, finding hats that fit my small head is really a challenge, especially for the styles that I like. Most of the time I feel like I've just put an ill fitting bucket on my head. Immediately she sussed out my situation and taught me how to choose and wear a cloche. Apparently you also bend the brim to golden spiral your face, who knew! The sales lady was very friendly and very, very knowledgeable of hats and how to choose ones correctly for your specific proportions. She was really good with all my questions and didn't make me feel rushed or stupid in any way. Needless to say, I left with a perfectly adorable cloche that fit me well! Large and fun collection. Prices are very reasonable. Service was excellent. The woman there was really friendly and knowledgeable. She really wanted to make sure I bought the right hat, not just any hat. She had the patience of a saint helping 2 women who had 1000 questions and requests. This shop had terrible customer service. Very rude. We went In About 20 minutes before closing time which they made sure we were aware of right away which is fine didn't plan in staying too long but less than 5 minutes later Andrea was harassing us telling us we only had 1/2 a second to get out. Felt like I was at a club at closing time! Won't go back there ! Hats were not that great! Not worth dealing with the rudeness. Plenty of other nice shops around. read more
