I signed up for a $50 beard&cut and was charged $30 because he felt that was a more honest mark for the "little" amount of work he did on me. Well, a little goes a long way; that is service you do not see everyday and is almost certainly why this establishment is as prestigious as it is. I often cut my own hair since I have a trimmer but I'm going on vacation tomorrow and wanted the touch of a professional. Brian's $30 work is as competitive with any other $50 cut I've paid for at other places. Will he offer you a discounted price? Maybe not, but you're guaranteed honesty and integrity from him. Since I am new to this area I have spent the last several months trying to find a good place to get my haircut. Then I found Classic Barbershop on Yelp and made the appointment online. Most my life when I've sat down in a barber chair I get up disappointed. The result is just not what you wanted or tried to explain to the person cutting your hair. Not this time. I sat down in Brian's chair (Owner) and he explained the process and asked what kind of cut I wanted. When he finished the cut he shaved my neck and beard lines. This man understands that a Barber is more than someone who just cuts hair. This is an experience. From the detailed haircut to the hot shave it is truly an experience. Better late than never, but I promised Brian I would write him a review and I'm good to my word. I went in here back in May so that I could get a beard trim and a haircut for graduation. It was my first time in a proper barber shop, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The decor was the first thing that struck me; I had my mental image of a stereotypical barber shop in my head, but this place reminded me more of a tattoo shop. Brian greeted me and showed me where I could sit and wait. After a few minutes I sat down in his chair. Told him what I wanted, and he got to work. The whole time we pleasantly chit-chatted; never felt forced, totally natural conversation (which is not normally something I'm accustomed to. I'm somewhat quiet and reserved around strangers). The whole thing took about 45 minutes. Unlike every other haircut and trim that I've had, I didn't look at a mirror the entire time. I only saw the results at the end, and I was impressed. Brian gave me exactly what I wanted. Could not have been happier. I've since moved from Lansing, but if I were still living there I'd be making regular appointments with Brian. I am highly impressed with Brian. He did such an amazing job cutting my hair. He is willing to accomodate any style you want. I showed him a picture of how I wanted my hair to look and not only did he replicate the picture, he made my haircut look even better than what i asked for. I took the chance on visiting Brian at Classic Barbershop after noticing his beard work on several others before making my appointment (don't expect to just walk-in for a cut; this guys booked for a reason). Granted not being able to just get a haircut takes away from the spontaneous feeling - but the service & attention to detail you get for having to schedule, well worth it. Love the shop. Moving to a new place can always cause some stress when trying to find the new space to keep you looking good. Luckily for me with Caskey's I found my new place in Lansing right away. I typically see Brian but Rachel is also great is he's booked up. He's thorough and keeps you looking good. He'll work with whatever you're looking to do with your hair and offers suggestions as necessary. I also usually sport a beard in the winter and they keep that looking crisp and clean. Paid another visit and I am even more amazed than the first time. Brian, the owner, is not only a sweetheart, but can put a crisp design on your head in 30 minutes flat. I am so so so happy with my hair, I had almost lost hope for my undercut looking as cool as I always thought it would. He did a geometric design into my undercut and the lines are perfect. I genuinely appreciate this guy's time and attention to detail during my appointment, and how friendly the entire staff is to clients. I shave my head so I don't really need to spend a lot of time in barber shops. But I've started growing a real beard so I needed it trimmed and shaped. On a whim, I made an appointment online with Tyler and he did a great job. He was conversational and took pride in his trade. Another reviewer said Classic Barber Shop was "old-timey", and I would agree with that. The interior is damn cool, almost like an extension of Stober's Bar, which is next door. Received TWO confirmation texts for an appointment (which you must have - walk-ins not welcome) drove from Holt to this barbershop, and the barber was a no-show - no-response! The female barber didn't even acknowledge me for over 10 minutes while I stood near the door awaiting a customary greeting or welcome. She chatted away about nonsense and checked her phone while someone was in her chair! This place and their business practices SUCK! Stopped by Classic for my first haircut since I moved to town. The guys here are really friendly and laid-back. Can't say the same about the rest of the town. Brian is really thorough and asked me exactly how I wanted my hair. I've gotten so used to me telling my barber how I want my hair, and them cutting it entirely different, so it was nice that we got to talk it through. Brian's really thorough about it too. I think I'm comfortable enough to just let Brian work his magic next time... or, if I decide to try a new hairstyle, I'm pretty sure I could show him a pic and say "just like that." Classic Barber Shop is by far one of the classiest and easy going barbers around. I moved here recently and was looking for a good barber that I didn't have to worry about doing a consistently good job. Came here and started getting my hair cut with Rachel. She's ultra laid back and always provides a fun experience and good conversation. I used to have a great barber in California but she spoke mostly Vietnamese (and I know very little) so it was an awkward 30 mins of silence whenever I'd go. The shop is well kept up and the owners always have cool projects and stuff to look at. The Chucky doll likes to wander around and find new places to hide which is funny as well. Really nice people that keep things on time even when busy and are fair on price. Always treat you like a friend. They do it right and you will walk out with exactly what you wanted (not a 12 dollar speed cut from the chain store barber). I suggest booking an appointment with Rachel or Brian next time you need a trim. They both do solid work and offer a great old school experience with a kooky well designed shop to spend your time at and listen to some good music. read more

I walked in with a 1 1/2 year old untouched beard, not only did they listen about what I wanted, they ASKED QUESTIONS! No work was done without a complete understanding of exactly what I was looking for. The service was quick, professional, clean. The owner was very down to earth, knowledgeable and professional. I avoided a trim after a previous encounter years ago ruined my beard. I was forced to shave. At the end of the day, I know I made the right choice. I will gladly be driving from Potterville all the way to the "Classic Barber Shop" every 2 months. Make sure you call a few days in advance, due to the quality of work and the price. This shop stays busy and for good reason. Dont call on Fathers day and expect to get an appointment same day. Use common sense(*Cough *cough 2 star reviewer ) I noticed a previous review that stated the customer service was "lacking". The owner of the barbershop was very personable and friendly. I had to reschedule due to one of the barbers having to take the day off for personal matters. I was contacted both via text and phone call to ensure I was taken care of ASAP. I called to make an appointment. Left a VM. Owner initiates a text from the phone number left on VM to set up an appointment. After text conversation to establish a working time, the owner mysteriously doesn't receive the one text confirming the appointment... When I try to complain, I get scolded for trying to text to a busy "well established" barber instead of calling. WTH? He may be a fabulous barber but customer service is seriously lacking. read more

Similar problems with scheduling. Had an appointment verified via text and when I arrived, the barber was not there. No cancellation text sent. This is not the first cancellation under similar circumstances. Ironical that there is a notice on the scrolling tv display that says: "No call no show, will result in double charge at next appointment. Obviously hold their customers to a higher standard than themselves. Brian is a great barber, but if you can't count on an appointment, it really doesn't matter how good you are. read more
