I was referred to this guy as an ethical Classic Used Muscle Car dealer which was far from the truth. I was looking fora 1967 Shelby GT 500 and he had one for sale. I called him and he described and the car was as described with only one exclusion and that happened to be the most valuable exclusion which greatly diminished the value of the car. Not to mention that Colin was indeed himself on the Shelby Muscle Board which carried clout and was suppose to validate that anything he shared with you in regards to a Shelby would be accurate and honest and unquestionable. I bought the car over the phone and had it shipped to me. I was very excited and loved the color and was happy until I had a Shelby enthusiast who knew Shelby's as well as anyone and owned Shelby's himself and was deeply involved in authentication, documentation, and a Shelby judge at national events for Shelby enthusiasts. When he came to verify the car the first thing he asked me was that did it have the vin# under the Shelby vin# tag and I explained that I was not aware of this. Once I became aware of this we of course looked and there was no vin# under the Shelby tag which in most peoples eye rendered the car useless and not a real Shelby? Needless to say I was upset but I felt there was nothing to worry about because Colin's reputation was supposed to be squeaky clean and integrity would never come into question. Upon purchasing the car Colin stated that if the car was not as described and was not 100% real that he would buy the car back for the full purchase price no question's asked. After numerous attempt's to call Colin I finally reached him and explained that I did not want the car because he never stated that the car did not have the original vin# located under the Shelby tag which knowing that he was on the Shelby board he knowingly sold the car to me and knew that this would greatly diminish the cars value and in most peoples eyes questioned the car ever being a real Shelby because without this the car could not be documented as a real Shelby GT 500. I have never seen a guy do the backstroke so hard in my life. He said he could not buy the car back at the full price I paid to start off with. He then tried to get me to trade on another car. Why would I trust him to trade on another car? I insisted on getting my money refunded and needless to say Colin disappeared, did not return my calls, and this guy with a great reputation and also being a member of the Shelby board broke every rule in the book when it comes to ethics and further questioned his knowledge of Shelby's and would make anyone think how could this guy be on the Shelby Board and knowingly do something like this? As one might expect there was no happy ending and several years later I finally met Colin and had the pleasure of dousing him with an Ice Cold Malted Beverage, a small token for what he should have gotten! read more

Colin Comer is the apparent proprietor of Colin's Classic Cars but may claim that this YELP! has nothing to do with that business. However, he had me wire the money to Colin's Classic Car's business bank account even though the car was titled in Arizona, using different Milwaukee address, in Colin Comer's name. Colin Comer of Scottsdale advertised a 1960 Austin Healy Sprite, on the Bring-A-Trailer website. I purchased the car based on his written description, but the car was not as represented by Mr. Comer. If you'll look at his website, you'll read what an honorable, ethical person he represents himself to be..You will also learn that he has written four or five books on Collector, Classic, and Muscle cars. He also writes for several national automotive publications, and is a judge for the upcoming Milwaukee Miracle Concours d' Elegance. I mention this to point out that he knew of the problems with the Sprite, and was aware of what he was doing when he advertised the car. Bring-A-Trailer stated that he owned four other Sprites and raced them. . The following quotes are directly from his ad. This 1960 Austin-Healey Bugeye Sprite (Chassis AN5L33131; Body BAE24505; Commission AN524313) is a beautifully restored life-long West/Southwest car so is absolutely 100% rust-free with all original metal" " no signs of any rust and the only damage being a (repaired) bump to the left rear quarter panel near the taillight". "The door and bonnet fit is perfect". All factory spot welds and seams are present and precise, and the original steel bonnet has never sustained any damage". "This was a bare-tub restoration with all components being restored. You'd be hard pressed to find a better body on a Bugeye, this is not a car built from a catalog with new metal, it is all original BMC steel". The following is a partial list of the defects in this supposedly never damaged, rust free car. 1. The front frame rails are rusty, bent, cracked, and poorly repaired back into the suspension mounting on the left side. There are no receiving brackets for the hood latch pins because of the poor repairs to the frame rails, leaving the hood is free to fly open when driving. 2. Rust shows under the bonnet in the center panel to fender seams at the windshield end, as well as the lower end of that seam below the sidelights/turn signals. 3. On the inside of the left front fender, two 5/16 bolts have been welded to stiffen the wheel opening metal where it was bent in a wreck.. 4. Inside the lower left side of hood, below the parking light shows serious body damage along the seam and very poor repair work. There is a rust hole clear through the lower right front fender. 5. Non-original gob welds along the foot well body seams under the hood/bonnet. 6. Unfinished Bondo smeared under the center of the rear body 7. The bonnet/hood does not fit properly. See #1 above. I have several emails between Mr. Comer and my self when I was trying to negotiate with him to return my money and take the car back. In one of the most amazing rationalizations, he admits the problems with the car by stating something along the line of, it is 55 years old and probably in better shape than when it was new. I know that I will most likely prevail in a civil action and force Mr. Comer to return my money and pick up the car, but I wish I had known about his business ethics before dealing with hiim. read more
