It was transformed into a 20-room hotel in 1991 by Patsy O'Kane and her brother, Seamus Donnelly. Ten more rooms were added in 2000. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The room we stayed in contained a king bed that seemed 50 percent wider than a standard king. Staff members were friendly and the hotel Ardmore restaurant served excellent food in a fine dining atmosphere. The hotel is located on a quiet road off a major highway on the east side of Derry and contains several acres of trees and walking paths. I highly recommend it.

I had booked Beech Hill Country House which is a stunning Georgian house, with 30 bedrooms and suites, based at Ardmore Road. I had booked a classic double room for my mum and a superior room (as it included both a king size as well as a single bed) for my sister and I, but on arrival were delighted to receive two superior rooms beside each other with adjoining door! A lovely touch. The rooms were huge, warm and comfortable and we were looking forward to relaxing in them later that evening. (I later found out that each room in the hotel looks different as they have all been individually restored, so different décor, paints, fabrics etc) But before we relaxed in our rooms, it was down to the bar for a few drinks and dinner! It was a cold evening so we parked up right in front of the fire- bliss! In fact, we didn't leave and decided to have our dinner right there. The Beech Hill is famed for its food and a number of people remarked to me that I would enjoy it when I mentioned I was staying there. The next morning we went down for breakfast and were impressed with both the cooked and continental selection- with all three of us having a bit of both! After breakfast, we walked round and explored the grounds. The hotel has different trials, with 32 acres of woodland and gardens. During our walk I was so impressed to learn about the history of the site. In June 1941, the United States constructed a naval base on the Foyle, named 'Base One Europe'. It remained the US Navy's main centre of operations in Europe until June 1944. The Beech Hill Country House Hotel provided the location for one the main accommodation camps and we couldn't believe a hut was still in place. Fascinating! Overall I had a brilliant night, particularly the comfortable rooms and amazing history

The room was incredibly spacious. The best shower I've ever had outside the U.S. -- hot and with excellent water pressure. Golfers who've been to Bandon Dunes, it's like staying at The Inn, but with friendly, warm personal service. *Perfectly* positioned about a three wood and a nine-iron from the pro shop at Portstewart and only a 10-minute drive to Royal Portrush. Will DEFINITELY be back here with friends on our next trip.

The rooms are comfortable and clean. The breakfasts are delicious and healthy. Ernestine's scones -- Oh. My. Goodness. So heavenly. The house is just far enough from the bustle of the town, and about 30 minutes from Giants Causeway and the Rope Bridge. You would be hard pressed to find better accommodations for the value. We definitely plan on going back.

The Shipquay is located in a gorgeous Italianate-style-listed heritage building that comprises a wealth of magnificent boutique hotel rooms. Our Superior Double Room had a beautiful and comfortable king-sized bed that was stylish and sophisticated. We enjoyed the amenities, such as the walk-in shower and the castiron tub that my wife and I loved immensely. They had complimentary WiFi and robes and slippers for us to wear in the morning and at night that was quite comfortable. The restaurant on the lobby floor provided us with delicious eats for breakfast and dinner, with refreshing and tasty cocktails, all in a stylish and contemporary interior that was our speed. The hotel is close to everything for site seeing and visiting attractions. There are tons of restaurants and bars within walking distance to enjoy. And if you want to stay indoors for the night, you have the restaurant and bar or speakeasy that's on-site. There are shopping centers everywhere, including one next store if you need to pick up some clothes, souvenirs, or just want to take a gander through. Overall, this is the place to stay when in Derry, and we will do so again upon our next one.

Situated on the peninsula the hotel has breathtaking views over the water. We had opted for a waterside suite to make the most of the views and were thoroughly impressed. The room was huge and the bed even more so. Whilst some areas of the hotel were slightly tired, it appeared to have been recently updated and the main areas were beautiful. There were two bars and we opted for the lounge overlooking the water, which had table service and was much quieter than the main bar. There was a wedding on but the lounge was reserved for nonwedding guests, which was perfect. Dinner in the hotel was superb and yet again we had a table with gorgeous views, albeit it was dark soon enough. Staff were attentive and made dinner very memorable. Breakfast was your typical buffet but with a great selection and a machine that made pancakes at the push of a button! Great start to the day. I would have given the hotel 5 starts but shortly after we arrived a girl came into our rooms with towels, which I feel should have been sorted before check in (and we checked in much after the allowed time). In addition, the laundry trolley spent all day outside our room, slumped with towels etc. This is a massive pet hate of mine, especially outside the hours between check out and check in.

We had 2 large bedrooms, a kitchen, dining area and a large living room. We also had a washer/dryer in the cottage. Our cottage came with a fully stocked mini bar at no extra cost. We were given snacks at no extra cost. Both the drinks and snacks were replenished daily. There was a tv in the living room. All rooms were fully furnished. The kitchen had pots, pans, and dishes. Housekeeping came daily to clean. Beds were so comfy. Bathroom was very big. We were provided with robes and flip flops. Now let's talk about Thermal Spa Village. There were so many hot tubs, saunas and meditation rooms everywhere in the village. I never felt like it was too crowded. It was open from 8:00am-10:00pm daily. There is a river running through the property very scenic and peaceful. I don't think we even went to every spa steam room or sauna. It was just so much to experience. Now the spa also offered other services at an additional price. Breakfast was included with the purchase of our cottage. There were two restaurants that served breakfast. Our favorite was The Conservatory because they offered a la carte breakfast items and it was beautiful inside. They also have a Fratellis Italian restaurant on site and bar/ pub on site as well. So as mentioned my sister got married here. She was married in a small chapel called the Ghost House. Then they had the reception in the 4 Seasons reception hall adjacent to the hotel. It was very nice. There was comfortable seating. The food for the wedding was absolutely amazing. I enjoyed every bite and I had the vegetarian dishes. The Inn has a restaurant and bar lounge with live music and there are fireplaces throughout the property. When I found out how much he paid for the room I was in slight shock. The accommodations were rustic wood with modern touches, tiled bathroom, etc. We arrived at the property later in the evening so we dined and then listened to live music in the lounge. The bed and linens were the finest in all of our Ireland stay, but the large King bed was divided with two mattresses. The view from the suite was looking into the interior garden and was quite peaceful, charming and breathtaking. For the price of the stay, I expected things like unlimited complimentary bottled water, and hotel staff at desk when items were needed after hours. We could have settled for a night out, but we decided to really push the boat out and go away for the night, and carefully ignored the smutty sniggering from our less refined friends. We decided on the Bushmills Inn and booked a double room. Imagine my delirious excitement when the very friendly young chap at reception told us we had been given the bridal suite. We waited for him to say 'suckers, only joking', but that didn't happen and he did indeed give us the keys to one of the best suites in the hotel. It was just beautiful, a huge room with vaulted ceiling, massive bed and a full size sitting area with an open fire. All of the furniture and curtains etc were plush and luxurious and I could have spent all my time in the bathroom. The bathroom was also huge, very traditional in style with a lush free standing slipper bath. The rest of the hotel was lovely too and we had to work hard to get round and sit in all the public areas - the bar, the library and the sung downstairs. We ate out elsewhere for dinner but our breakfast next morning was fab - the full Ulster and it was tasty, not greasy and beautifully presented. All in all our one night stay was pretty much perfect - good service, good food and a wonderful room. I would absolutely recommend the Bushmills Inn for an overnight treat for locals and tourists alike.
