I was referred to Dixie Vets and called and they told us to come right away. When we arrived the inside was clean and smelled wonderful. They offered us water and coffee multiple times also which was very nice. All of this is extra and nothing they have to do, but still do it. That tells me a lot about them. The receptionist was excellent and you could feel that she cared. She actually got up and walked to our room. I have never had a receptionist do that. The veterinarian technician came in shortly after and she was also amazing. Once again you could feel that she cared about our cat. I actually thought she was the veterinarian. She was really nice and comforting. The veterinarian came in after and (I know I keep repeating myself, but this is a good thing) She was amazing. She was very gentle and compassionate with our cat. She was upfront with the cost and gave us a couple choices. I can normally read people very well and it is easy to see if someone is genuine or not. They were all truly genuine. It is doctors like her and people like the receptionist and vet tech that can help or hurt the reviews and if you are coming back or not. The old vet is about 8 minutes away and Dixie is about 30 minutes away. We will be coming back to Dixie without a second thought. I recommend anyone looking for help to go to Dixie Veterinary Hospital.

RUN! Do not fall for it! Suzanne was recommended by a friend who used her over a year ago. It is…read moreevident that her professionalism and ethical responsibility have vanished over time. Our local vet diagnosed our dog with an aggressive cancer. They recommended euthanasia within a few days to a week, but would only allow one person in the room, so decided on home euthanasia. When I contacted Suzanne, she pushed steroids-which my vet said would not work for this type of cancer. Of course, opinions can vary, so after she urged us, we started to consider and set up an exam appointment. Suzanne kept delaying and then never showed the first night. The second night she showed at 11:00 PM, which we did not agree to. (Car problems/family problems etc.) She finally did show on the third day at 6PM. During one of the many conversations while trying to reschedule the appointment, Suzanne wanted to add even more meds with the steroids. This included two types of pain pills, some antibiotics, subcutaneous fluids, and liver supplements. That concerned me as our dog was already losing her appetite and had an upset stomach. She really pushes her agenda, and we started to second guess our rational decision to end our dogs suffering. That is our fault for falling into that trap while emotional and sleep deprived. After two days, I called to let her know that it as time to say goodbye to our dog as she was no longer interested in food. She questioned our decision -which made it so much more difficult. We called her at 8:15 PM to schedule. She said that she would make her way out in a half hour or so. It was 12:30 AM when she showed. She said the (inflated) cost was $610 and she would not give a receipt. We were told that the crematory would give one. Suzanne was supposed to take our dog the crematory at 8:00 AM the next day. I asked her to text when she left. At 11:45 AM Suzanne said that she overslept and was on the way to the crematorium-but had to stop at the credit union. So, our dog had been in her care for 8 hours as it was. I called the crematory at 3:30 PM and my dog had never been there. We had to track her down and demand that she return our dog to us so that we could handle it ourselves. Who knows if our dog would have ever been delivered-but driving around with someone's dog in a car all day is concerning on many levels. The only good thing that came out of this is that we canceled the check. At this point, she owes us money for all of the hassles and grief that she caused. Losing a pet is difficult enough and she caused so much more grief and turmoil because of her negligence and lies!

I've read through other reviews out of curiosity - here are some of the comments that I can give my take on. Is the care here cheap? No! Is the care here thorough, trustworthy, and high quality? Yes! I do not mind the pricing at all given the care my pets receive. It is clean, they are thorough and knowledgeable, pricing is transparent and they ask consent while providing an estimate before doing anything. I'm not guilted if I refuse a service - just educated on the consequences/changes in outcomes/reasons for their recommendations, which is IMPORTANT, whether or not you are ready to hear it. Let's have more respect for our vets who want to do right by our pets, but can't do that on their own dime. Yes, even though Covid is over, you can still wait in the car with your pet. This has really been helpful for my dog who gets more and more anxious the longer he sits in the waiting room. They have options for non-medical visits for behavioral issues if your pet has more severe anxiety about vets. They do not allow e-collars at visits, which is a good idea (imo, not everyone uses them appropriately anyhow!). My dogs, admittedly, are not the easiest patients. I adopted both of them as adults, and they have their quirks. However, the dogs aren't afraid and the team gets the job done without issues and plenty of bribery. To clear up some other issues with other reviews - Are they available after hours, weekends, and holidays for emergencies? No! They are not an er vet clinic. Yes, they may not be able to fit you in immediately. But they do have first call, same day appointments which has worked out well in urgent situations - when they fill up, they fill up. Staff will call you if there is a cancellation and they understand the urgency of your need. I can't blame their team for needing some sort of work/life balance! I believe they offer care credit and other options if you can't immediately afford the care your animal needs. There is some sort of gift basket raffle every now and again to raise money for needy pets. Overall, I recommend this office for the thorough care my pets receive. Thank you to the team at APC!
