I buy my Stornaway black pudding here all the time when I'm passing through, at the side there is a selection of fresh fruit and vegetables, potatoes and fresh eggs. You can order any items that they don't usually stock like turkey's for Christmas & venison. Definitely a place to stop by for all your fresh meats.

Stymied at step 2 when I called a highly-rated establishment in Clarkston. Me: "Hi, I'd like to order some lamb shanks for Friday (3 days away)." Butcher: "Oh sorry, someone else has already ordered lamb shanks." Me: "OK....do you only have one lamb??" Next call Thomson Brothers; Me: "Hi, could I order some lamb shanks please?" Butcher: "No problem, sir. How many? For Friday? See you then." On the day, a cheery welcome, some good banter and some superb shanks, all wrapped and ready to go. In terms of quality & size, more like lion shanks than lamb. The shop looks small from outside but is extremely well appointed.has a fantastic selection of meat, including steaks, beef olives, sausages, black pudding...you name it, they've got it. I'm going to be eating more meat, for an excuse to visit my not-so-local butcher.

This place is a wee joy to behold and a true high end grocery store without the ridiculous pricing...well sort of. With a wide range of fresh fruit and veg, all looking to be of a high quality and very nicely presented, great choice of dried foods, biscuits, jams and other tasty treats, this is a pretty comprehensive wee store with friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere.....i like very much.

But it wasn't long before the excitement of the new Sainsburys wore off (they never seem to have brown onions, what's with that?) and I realised the error of my ways. Zucchini gracefully took me back like I'd never been away, and showered me with bountiful fruit and veg, loads of nice organic bits and bobs like oatcakes, crisps, breads, cakes, fruit juices, and pretty much any ingredient that Nigella can throw at you. AND they have brown onions the size of Death Stars. Forgive me Zucchini. I'll never stray again.

Not so much a fruit and veg emporium, but certainly a handy little shop for the area…read more The selection is not massive but it does stock all the basics at reasonable prices, and you're guaranteed good, efficient, personal service that you're unlikely to receive at a supermarket. JB's is the sort of local business that definitely deserves support.

Everything here is pretty cheap compared to the local supermarkets, and even if it isn't always much cheaper, the produce is certainly of a good and consistent quality. Sometimes their peppers are a bit dodgy, but on the whole everything is pretty decent from here. The staff are also really friendly and willing to listen to their customers. A while ago I asked if they stocked sweet potatoes, which they replied: "We used to, but there wasn't much market for them, but if you want some we can order them in!" And they did :) So don't be put off it you can't find more exotic fruit and veg, if you're simply looking for some good potatoes or fresh apples and strawberries, it's definitely worth going to J&B's if you live nearby.

This shop is one of the main reasons I go to Pollockshields. The sheer range of groceries from the…read moreIndian sub-continent (predominately Pakistan/India) is amazing. I am always impressed with the prices aswell, which are far more in line with a wholesaler than a retailer. The old premises used to be on Maxwell Road, however the newer premesis are now literally round the corner on Forth Street. I visited last week, and there is now more of a "cash n carry" feel about the place, with pallets stacked high and whatnot. Nevertheless, the excellent selection and sheer variety or groceries are still there, as are the extremely reasonable prices. What I love about this store is not only do you ALWAYS find exactly what you're looking for, but they constantly have new lines in which allow you to try different foods. To put this in perspective, I bought a bottle of coconut oil from a local shop which cost £2.49...saw exactly the same bottle in Strawberry Spice Garden for £1.19. Literally less than half the price. Here you will find the best variety of Asian spices, fruit, vegetables, herbs, tinned produce, kitchenware/houseware, frozen foods, snacks, sauces, etc, etc. They also cater for many restaurants and takeaways, so it is very common to see large bulk items such as 5kg tubs of sauce, 10kg bags of rice/flour, etc. The butcher section is still in development, but will be open in the near future. Definitely worth a visit. If there is a particular Asian ingredient or food you are looking for I can guarantee you will find it here. The store is extremely popular with both locals and those from outside the area. Service is surprisingly fast, you don't really wait that long to be served atall and the cashiers are extremely efficient. I would go as far as suggesting that this is the best place in Glasgow for your Asian groceries.
