It's awesome! Dr. Akler says my vision will further improve which is crazy for me to think about. Dr. Akler, Barbara, and their whole staff are very thorough with their consultation. They did tests the "commercial LASIK" places didn't do when I went there for a consult. The surgery was the weirdest thing you can do, but I would do it again hands down x 1000000. The surgery itself was pain-free. Dr. Akler talks you through the whole surgery while she's doing it. I did have some pain for the first 2 hours when I got home, but it went away and hasn't been back. I've had no complications and I attribute that to a great consultation (ensuring I'm a good candidate), following the pre-op instructions, and the skills and knowledge of Dr. Akler. It's mind-blowing to be able to see this well without my contacts. If you're looking to get rid of glasses and contacts, look no further than Akler Eye Care. The office building is older but Dr. Zuckerbrod is a much better doctor than the other ophthalmologists I took my mom to at fancier looking facilities. He's at the Westland office only on Thursdays so there can be a wait. I was told his busiest office is in Detroit where he works Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

I was referred to this ophthalmologist and I am very grateful I was able to be seen the same day. Dr. Kornblum was very professional and was able to remove the metal from my eye no problem. Needless to say it was a very stressful/painful feeling before Dr. Kornblum was able to help me. It has been a few days and my eye is fully healed up. 5 stars no doubt.

This office is listed as an in-network provider under my eye insurance which means free eye exams…read more However, per their "office policy" they wanted to charge me $190 claiming they do "dilation and refraction" which are "medical". All comprehensive eye exams include dilation. And refraction is only required IF you need corrective lens. I told them they are in violation of their contract with my insurance provider so I reported it to my insurance provider. I asked to speak to the office manager and was told she wasn't in today, yet she talked to the insurance provider. I was also told I was "being mean" to them because I was questioning them. A supervisor at the insurance provider called their office manager (who magically was there) and Livonia Ophthalmologists PC flat out refused to honor the contract so they had to file an insurance fraud claim against them.

My first impression? He was on some type of stimulant. Hyper, nervous, couldn't look anyone in the eye and very hurried. He asked me about things that were clearly in the file. Which told me he spent no time looking at my chart before entering the room. HIs hand was literally on the door handle to exit almost the entire time. I was at the office for an hour and he was in the room for maybe 5 min. He argued with me. Told me everything I knew for the last 40 yrs was wrong. He didn't allow me to finish sentences or thoughts before interjecting and finishing my sentences. Finally I stopped asking questions because it was evident he didn't want to be there. I was asked if I wanted to schedule an annual appointment. I declined. He may be a genius. I don't know? His bedside manner detracts more than enough for me. Based off his behavior and treatment, it is this reviewer's opinion this doctor does not see his patients as customers and has the typical big headed ego, and medical entitlement attitude that prevent many medical providers to acknowledge they are also service providers and we are also customers. If I had to pay for this service out of pocket, I would have asked for a discount for poor service. Of course doctors know their income is guaranteed through insurance which does not motivate some providers to see patients as customers or provide good customer service. My advice to the doctor: Slow down, see less patients, you have two ears and one mouth for a reason. Spend more time LISTENING! And don't interrupt! Ironically I can find the same feedback on here stemming years. This assisted in sealing the deal that this was not the doctor for me. Don't enable and keep doctors like this in business. Go somewhere else, unless you like being treated like a paycheck and not a person.
