A tree fell on my daughter's car at an Air BNB while visiting Charlotte. Luckily no one was inside at the time. They called Clarks. Rob went above and beyond to get things resolved by coordinating with the the owner, the girls, and me (as car owner) in Virginia. His team used a lift and chain saws to get them going in a short time. I was really impressed that he updated me often even though I wasn't the one paying him, the AirBNB owner was. This company was hired by our property mgmt group to clear trees in our small neighborhood's common areas. They are thorough for sure, but they are inconsiderate, no regard for doing damage to personal property (driveways, yards, etc), driving heavy equipment on people's property. I am not sure what they're being paid, but right now I'm rather pissed with the wreck they made of my driveway. They ignored and disregarded the easement access and instead used my drive to position their equipment. They've been in the neighborhood multiple times and this isn't a one time occurrence, just the first time I've been directly impacted. Definitely, do not hire. read more

On 3/23/2023, Clark's Tree Express came to my house to remove trees. It was like a bull in a china shop. They cut the gas line to my house with the stump grinder and did not tell me until I walked outside, which could have been dangerous. Fortunately, it did not catch fire and was capped off, and thankfully the gas fumes didn't enter the house where I have pets. I had to essentially demand that the gas company (Dominion) check for gas in the house. No one seemed concerned about any danger to myself or my pets. CTE destroyed a small garden underneath a tree that my neighbors and I share. They did attempt to repair it with plants and pine needles, but the mound of dirt is gone. CTE crushed a gutter downspout and cracked a vinyl corner piece while felling trees on the side of my house, and then denied doing the damage, until I showed them a photo that it was not damaged initially when they began working. I have yet to have the gutter downspout replaced although Chris agreed to replace it and allegedly ordered it from Lowes. CTE ignored the cracked corner piece entirely. CTE then dropped part of a tree on my shed in the backyard, when a rope broke. The tree went through the roof and through the side of the shed. The owner, Chris, sent for a man he knows to try to repair the building, but not only was the building not repaired correctly, the man left at the end of the day, (leaving lumber and pieces of the sheets of repair materials and trash) all over the backyard for me to clean up. I had to get help to clean up his mess, as I am disabled. The inside of the shed was left with parts of the roof still inside on the floor, as well as scraps of building material. The repairman's jacket is still hanging in the building. The building needed work on the front, and I didn't try to hold him responsible for that, of course, but the building was structurally sound and I just wanted it put back in the condition it was in prior to their accident. Chris refused to file it on his insurance to have it repaired. Now the building is not completely repaired, the roof is bowed and the roof vent now doesn't seal out the rain, the shingles do not match, nor does the siding nor is it sealed now. The siding has spaces between it and the rest of the building where rain and insects enter. Since the tree work, while pressure washing the house, I found that they also damaged the vinyl corner piece where the fireplace is and the siding doesn't fit under it any longer, which allows the elements to compromise that part of the exterior of my house. They put my fence back up and now the gate does work, as I could not open it before, however the fence where it connects is no longer stable and was broken and now my dogs can escape through where the gate and the fence meet. My yard, including the front where no substantial work was performed, was left a mudhole. I knew I would have to plant grass and work on the yard, but never thought it would be the amount that needed repair and grass planted. Mr. Clark, the owner, decided on his own to trim a couple of trees and remove one additional smaller tree, which he later said he did for free. I thought that was his way to apologize for all the damage. It turned out that his intention was that the additional work was to take the place of him repairing the damage done by him and his crew and that was not my understanding, nor agreeable to me. In good faith, I paid him $10,100 trusting that he would make things right. I still want my building repaired back to the condition it was in, my downspout replaced, the siding that is cracked from trees striking it replaced, for him to straighten up the fence so my dogs cannot escape. I have gotten two estimates from other companies to repair my building and the second one included the other damage, except for shoring up the fence. Estimates to repair CTE's damage exceed $3000. Chris Clark offered me $900 and told me I could have the building repaired and pocket part of the money or let it pay for the tree that was on my roof and the damage of my roof. There would be nothing to pocket as the repairs far exceed $3000. Mr. Clark acted angry because I am not satisfied with the repair to my building/shed because he said he spent a lot of money to repair it. But it was not repaired correctly and not my fault he chose someone to repair it that didn't know what they were doing. I have forwarded him the information and have not had a response except that he has the downspout and will come and install it and that was weeks ago. I am still waiting. I would have recommended them had they repaired their damage, but now, no I do not recommend them, as they have not stood by their word. read more

I'm impressed with the experienced and knowledgeable team that came out to bring down a few trees that were leaning towards our house, as well as a few big oak trees that were completely covered with ivy. They wasted no time in getting to work, but were mindful to communicate with us about what we wanted done and ask us questions before they started, such as if we had a lawn that we cared about in the backyard and where the septic tank was. They gave our neighbor a discount for an additional tree that needed to be taken down in his yard, plus a tree trim in the front yard. The company is insured for any potential property damage, but with such a solid team on the job, I wasn't too worried; they took every precaution with each tree. read more

I made it clear to this company that I was only trimming and cleaning up to appease my home insurance, and that I want a lot of greenery. I showed the company one tree that could *not* be touched because I use it as a barrier to keep my two toddlers in the yard. Another tree, I asked for a trim. Without discussing it with me, they absolutely butchered the tree that needed a trim, and cut down the one that I use as a fence barrier. Now my front yard has a huge piece of plywood as a temporary fence and my neighbors are not happy. My Holly tree seems to be dying since they messed with it. Dead branches and sections keep falling out of it, even a month later. That tree never gave us one ounce of trouble and was thriving. They knocked down my mailbox, broke a sign in my hard and an azalea plant. They fixed the mailbox but tried to blame the rest on my neighbors. That sign had been in my yard for a year, and my neighbors randomly decided to destroy it when they came out? I was promised mulch and then was told when they left that they couldn't give me mulch today. They left behind a lot of heavy branches that I am still cleaning up a month later. They told me they'd get me some cheap bushes to replace the one I used as a fence, but it has been a month or more and they haven't taken care of me. We had them come out to trim and top 2 trees. One tree looks great but the other one not so great. There are still branches and limbs everywhere. I called the company 3 weeks ago and was told they would come out and look at them. Told Rob that one tree is naked and the other half dressed. I feel like he talked down to me and tried to tell me that the trees could never look alike. I would not recommend them to anyone. read more
