THE GOOD: There were high winds on January 16, 2016 which blew a couple shingles off of the corner of our roof. On the 18th I called Clark's Straight Line Roofing because I wanted to deal with a smaller, local business. There was still snow on the roof so they couldn't fix it until that melted off. On the 21st Mark came over and replaced the missing shingles. The price was right and he seemed like a nice enough guy that I told him he would get our business if we had more problems or needed the entire roof replaced someday.
THE BAD: April 9, 2016 there were more high winds which removed the exact shingles that were replaced by this company in January. I called Mark back and told him what had happened. He said he would fix it but would have to charge me again and suggested I contact my insurance company about filing a claim for the roof. I personally didn't feel I should be charged again since the original repair was less than three months prior but agreed anyway because the price was really good. I took his advice and contacted the insurance company as well. After learning the chances of the claim being approved were rather low because it was just a couple shingles I decided to have it repaired again. Even a denied claim counts as a claim, a risk I wasn't willing to take. I called Mark back on two separate occasions and had to leave messages because of no answer.
THE UGLY: After not receiving a return phone call I called a couple more times and he answered. I scheduled an appointment for him to come back over, repair the missing shingles, inspect the roof, and give me a quote for an entire new roof. The appointment was for the afternoon of April 19, 2016. That is when he pulled the ultimate no no for any business of any size and led to my first, and presumably only, yelp review. NO CALL NO SHOW. Today is May, 11 and I have not heard anything. I know he is still around and not injured or something because I saw him at a restaurant last week in the Clark's Straight Line roofing van and wearing a company t-shirt. If you are too busy to do the job then say that, don't schedule an appointment and then blow it off. That is unacceptable. Just a phone call to say he couldn't make it that day would have been ok. Instead, I waited around all afternoon for him to show up and eventually had to bring in someone else to repair the missing shingles. It took them all of 20 minutes. read more
