Husband found pile of wet men's clothing in the shower. Sweet people work here though who can't be monitoring rest rooms. The price can't be beat.

Staff informed us that the park is now owned by the Port of Woodland. Site 55 was gravel and it was level and gave us plenty of room for our truck and trailer. Checked out the upstairs club room and shot a round of pool. There was no one else in the room. Tried my luck fishing on the beach just below the park. No bites during the two days we were there. Obviously the fish didn't care for the coon shrimp offerings. Park is quiet and kept very clean, pool was open but we didn't use it. There is also a horseshoe pit and basketball hoop that we didn't use either. Will return again since it's so close to home and the location on the river can't be beat.

We absolutely love the private beach access--it's one of our favorite parts of the campground and makes for such a relaxing getaway. The staff is always incredibly friendly and welcoming, and both the booking process and check-in are quick and easy. The camp store is super convenient for grabbing anything you forgot or need during your stay. This year, we even hosted our nephew's birthday party here, and it was perfect! The park allows day visitors for just $8, giving them access to the entire park and private beach. It made it so easy for our family and friends to spend the day with us without having to camp overnight. One of our favorite things is watching the massive cargo ships pass by on the Columbia River. It's so cool to see them glide by from the beach--you don't realize just how enormous they are until they're right in front of you! The park is also incredibly dog-friendly, with plenty of space to walk, explore, and enjoy the outdoors. Between the berry picking, wildlife (they have resident giant geese, and we saw a ton of bats and a few deer!) and the beach, there's always something to do for both kids and adults. The only thing I'd suggest is a little more attention to the bathrooms. They weren't bad by any means, but they're small enough that a more frequent deep clean would go a long way. Knocking down the spider webs more regularly and keeping the hand soap stocked would make an already great campground even better. We'll definitely be back again next year. Reeder Beach has become one of our favorite summer traditions!

I will stay here when rooms are booked at McMenamins and since I have a trailer, why not. I personally like this place. It's clean, it's quiet, and the people are so kind (employees and residents). I love watching the people walking by with their dogs. I feel like it's a doggy parade. I do appreciate that everyone follows the leash rule and keeps their doggies on leash when walking them. It just makes it safe for other dogs. We have stayed on the creek side only but I may venture to the river side next time. One the creek side it is quiet. I know the river side is closer to the I-84 so I am curious how much louder it will be. I guess I may find out this summer. I definitely recommend staying here when you have something going on at Edgefield or honestly, just stay here just because it's a great place.

The wildlife - bald eagles, blue heron, birds too many to mention, deer - is reason enough. Getting in touch with Nature is the answer to so many things. Daffodils and pink cherry trees announce Sprin with the white blossoms of apple and pear trees close behind. The weeping Willows with their long bright green tresses are magnificent with the lakes and swamps behind them. There are so many trails to walk to take in all of this beauty and see the wildlife. Raccoon Point, across from the dog kennel, is a great starting point with its own parking lot and several benches for those that want to rest and take it all in. On a summer day, the white Sandy beaches along the river are the perfect place to picnic, soak up the sun and go for a swim. The water is calm and actually warm. Take that Portland! It's not the ocean, so don't expect waves, and since Sauvie Island isn't commercialized, there are no bathroom facilities or showers. The parking strip is dotted with this porta potties we all hate but need. Make sure to buy a parking permit, you can pick one up at the convenience store before you cross the Sauvie Island Bridge or the few convenience stores you pass on NW Reeder Road once on the island. Buy the permit! They do ticket. The first beach is the family beach. You will recognize it by the cars parked along the road and steps with railings that take you over the small grassy knoll to the beach. If you drive further down to the gravel road, you will hit the clothing optional beach. While you are there in the summer, stop at the fruit farms and stands or go berry picking, apple picking - many types of fruit and signs are everywhere. Bring a bucket and washcloths and pick your own old blackberries that grow along the sides of the road, everywhere. When the nights get cold and the trees start to turn, the vibrant colors of the various trees lure me to Sauvie Island. Just driving around taking in the beauty makes me smile. There are several farms to pick apples, pears, pumpkins and many have full in Harvest festivities with hayrides and a maze walk. Make a day of it! Winter is even more quiet than other times of the year when everything is resting but with it comes it's own stillness and beauty. If you live in Portland or the nearby suburbs, plan a visit and once you experience the quiet beauty of the island, I'm sure you will visit over and over again. Important to note - there are not a lot of restaurants so bring a picnic. Or do a search and plan on a particular place. The Island Cove is a great stop and it's right before you get to the beach area. Enjoy!!!

As luck would have it, owner Erica answered the phone and was informative, understanding of our situation, and helpful. She immediately made us feel at ease, we decided to move forward with them. It's always a pleasure speaking to either of them. They both go out if their way to answer our questions and find solutions.
