Once again, I have followed my girl Jess to her new place. (She is THAT GOOD-- I will follow her anywhere!) I was in some serious need of a blonde touch up and I knew Jess was the only person I could truly trust. I live in NW Portland and Clancy & Co is juuuust over the bridge in Vancouver so it wasn't too far of a drive for me. The place is so modernly decorated-- very quaint and *very* cute! I believe there are only two people working there right now which are Jess and the owner (I forgot his name, but he was very nice, welcoming, and fun to talk to-- sorry!) Every time I sit in Jess's chair I know I can trust her with just telling her "this is what I'm kind of thinking, but just make it look good please," and know that it will. By the time I left, I was gorgeously blonde again and stoked to not have my roots be halfway down my head. I am a low-maintenance hair person. I get my hair cut twice a year with the occasional balayage treatment, I don't own a hairbrush and I never see the same stylist twice because I usually just use Craigslist to see if anyone is running a good deal. That is until now. I found Brooklyn via Craigslist when she relocated to Clancy & Co from Seven Salon in Bellevue. She is the first stylist I've found who actually hears what I'm saying and LISTENS. She takes her time and is very patient, and it's obvious that she cares about and loves what she does. I was in the chair for less than three hours for balayage, and my naturally black hair has never looked better. For once, I got exactly what I asked for! This never happens! Usually stylists will rush through the process. I have now seen her twice (once for a cut and once for balayage), and I will continue to see her the future. read more

Horrible experience. Went in and stylist did not listen to me about the color I wanted. It was so dark, I didn't recognize myself in the mirror, and found my husband took pictures of my awful color and sent them to my daughter. She was shocked at the photos. I called the day after, and had to pay again for what should have been done in the first place. My hair was severely damaged. Owner never asked why I was back (although he saw me back to get it fixed) The breakage and damage to my hair was extreme. This should have been a free fix, along with some sort of serious conditioning. It was just a terrible experience read more

I have been seeing Mary at Salon Solo for a few months now and only have good things to say about her! She's a very talented hairstylist with a great personality! My hair always looks great after seeing her and her prices are also good! I like Mary so much that I've even referred a few of my own clients to her! I have now been seeing Mary for a few years now as does my whole family and we all love what she does with our hair. She is amazing with curly hair and what I love is that she knows how to cut curly/wavy hair so that it requires minimal effort after leaving the salon. I love that I can wash my hair at night and wake up with perfect hair in the morning. She also does balayage hair color technique which is so much better than traditional foils. Not only is the grow out so much nicer and natural looking (no root rot) but for me it only requires every 8 week root blending which is fast and less damaging to the hair. Her prices are great, she's easy to schedule with and she's fun to visit with. Highly recommend read more

I was referred to Mary who is very personable, She took a lot of time with me. She created beautiful natural striations in my hair of low medium and light brown, copper brown, and a weave of lighter.
