This place is awesome. I went there for the first time last Wednesday to the 7:30pm class. The people that work there are friendly and willing to help in any way possible. The instructor took the time to walk around the room and give everyone tips to help them out. They have enough space to host huge crowds. I will definitely be going back. Make sure to take advantage of the first class free.

RESULTS, RESULTS, RESULTS! So I gained a little bit (a lot) of weight during the winter season and let the last few months of my membership basically go to waste. I decided, it was sort of getting warm out, and I needed to make a change--and fast. I decided I would renew my membership at CKO on April 1st. The results: I go to CKO at least 5xs with 2 days off or lifting. I am no longer eating like a cave man and in just one month, I have made progress that I am very proud of. One of the differences this time around is how fast I saw results and it really has to do with me changing eating habits. My sisters signed up with me this time and now I always have a workout partner(s) -which seriously makes the workout even better. Last year I stuck with one instructor but now I'm mixing it up and each instructor has something different to offer. Heidi, Leo, and Jim are my faves. 4.5* overall. They still lack a few things that I hope they improve on in the future. (more locker room space, updated machines in the upstairs gym,) Also, the strictness they have on you bringing a guest that has already been there is a little ridiculous for the amount of $$$ you are paying.

When I used to live in Ventnor, I was fortunate enough to live but a few blocks from the small, but tight-knit Ninja Academy, a martial arts fitness studio. The place wasn't for everyone, but if you were motivated and took a sincere interest in Tae Kwon Do, the eccentric Sensei Malcolm, a 6th degree dan, would add you to his eclectic fight club. I really enjoyed the subculture and the amazing workout that would fly by as I sparred other members and practiced moves and techniques on the bag. It was something I missed in the winters when I was at school in Boston, and something I thought I would have to say goodbye to entirely when I moved to Hoboken. Needless to say I was surprised to find a kickboxing gym less than 4 blocks from my new apartment. I started a free week trial of CKO and was immediately glad I did. The gym offers a number of classes every day- pretty much one an hour after 4pm on the weekdays, and is pretty easy to work into most people's schedule. The first floor of the gym (which is actually up several flights of stairs) is devoted to somewhere between 60-80 punching bags, lined up in rows. Classes are conducted here, where participants follow the direction of an instructor, usually while listening to some decent EDM. Classes are slightly different depending on instructor, but they all consist of intervals of boxing and kickboxing, interlaced with sets of cardio exercises. What's good is that the instructors challenge you to push yourself, and because it is a group class, you usually do more than you would otherwise to avoid looking like a slacker (gotta love group mentality). What's also nice is that the second floor of a gym is filled with typical exercise equipment and machines (along with a speed bag- which I love) and since most people go for the classes, the second floor is practically empty and there are never any lines or wait. I committed to the year-long contract at CKO three weeks ago and have been going three or four times a week. I have already noticed that I am losing weight and getting toned, which is a nice reward for how sore I have been after the classes. The classes are intense at first, but I think my endurance is growing and I am regaining the strength and energy I had back in my Tae Kwon Do days. I give CKO 4 rather than 5 stars, because although they filled the hole left in my life by Tae Kwon Do, I still miss the hand-to-hand combat and family-feel of my old fight club. I also wish they offered a pay-per-month option without a year-long commitment, although I suppose the investment forces me to go and stay in shape.

The equipment I use is always in service and the locker rooms are clean. I love the tiny steam room and sauna. I have taken a few classes which were good, but the morning class schedule doesn't work with my work schedule. I would love a 6 am low impact class! The one thing that I dislike about Crunch Hoboken are the hair dryers, which are old and take forever to dry your hair. I wish they'd upgrade to fast Shark hair dryers and add some hooks in the shower stalls.

At first…read moreglance it's not much, the size of the gym is smaller than other locations but what makes this one stand out than some of the other locations is their "Signature" branding which includes better equipment and towel service. As of recently they've upgraded their treadmills to Woodways which I was very excited to try out. They're quick, smooth and compatible with your smart watch, I just wish they would upgrade their entire line up of treads and not just half the room. The gym itself is a bit warm and kinda humid all year long, there's no fans blowing anywhere to keep the place cool. I've had no issues with staff, everyone has been very friendly. Parking is a nightmare though. It's all paid street parking and everyone is just sharking for the next spot. Sundays used to be free parking but as of recently that's now changed. If there's something I would ask to be improved is for the hours to change. Open up earlier and close later. Lifetime Fitness opens at 5AM and closes at 11PM. Take some notes and learn from them, some of us have chaotic work schedules and the business hours at this location (especially on weekends) are lame. Also please finish updating the rest of your treads to Woodways, I can't stand having to wait 15-20 minutes for equipment to open up.

I joined this gym in January and its the best investment I've made this year, im a shitty day trader so thats not saying much. The Yoga studios are so peaceful and the instructors are all masters. Notably Jason Morris hot yoga classes are energizing and therapeutic, he is such a Guru Ive learned so much about anatomy and making a mind body connection that it spills over into weight training. Luliias voice is so soothing and her classes are so fun, the Friday class specially feels like everyone is connected Gigis class is super cool on Sundays it should be renamed Juicy Yoga with Gigi lol, shes so funny and connects with everyone, the class feels like cuddles after sex. Spin with Juggy and Melora is elite. Ive gotten so much faster in my road bike after just a few classes. Functional training with Nyerre Mays is un-unreal. He is such a cool dude and such a Pro. The pool is epic, the Jacuzzi forget about it. The entire staff is super friendly and makes everyone feel super welcomed. I truly feel at home whenever I make it to the gym. The MVPs of the gym are the cleaning staff though, everything is so spotless all the time. In a city so chaotic is nice to have this peaceful oasis.

Well, that's how I felt during my first class at HRA. My favorite thing about this gym is the community and diversity of its members. After moving back to the area on March 1, 2020 and having the whole world shut down soon after, I was at a loss for community. However, a few months later I was fortunate enough to get connected into HRA because they were on top of their game with Hoboken to get things going in a safe way. They have 3 main types of classes offered: WOD's (CrossFit workouts), RPM (strength and conditioning), and yoga. All of the coaches all have their own flavor and approach and teach with heart, passion, but most of all expertise. This is the first gym I have been to that I do not feel that I have to avoid "that" coach. If you are searching for a gym that is doing things the RIGHT way, and I am not just talking about working out safely during a pandemic, I am also talking about focus on form, positivity, and taking care of one another, this is your gym. From events such as Hero WOD's at a Jersey Farm to raise money for 31 Hero's, to decorating the gym for the holidays, this truly is a special place. If you choose to drop in and try a class, come over and say hi if you see me. That's just what we do!
