This place is awesome. I went there for the first time last Wednesday to the 7:30pm class. The people that work there are friendly and willing to help in any way possible. The instructor took the time to walk around the room and give everyone tips to help them out. They have enough space to host huge crowds. I will definitely be going back. Make sure to take advantage of the first class free.

RESULTS, RESULTS, RESULTS! So I gained a little bit (a lot) of weight during the winter season and let the last few months of my membership basically go to waste. I decided, it was sort of getting warm out, and I needed to make a change--and fast. I decided I would renew my membership at CKO on April 1st. The results: I go to CKO at least 5xs with 2 days off or lifting. I am no longer eating like a cave man and in just one month, I have made progress that I am very proud of. One of the differences this time around is how fast I saw results and it really has to do with me changing eating habits. My sisters signed up with me this time and now I always have a workout partner(s) -which seriously makes the workout even better. Last year I stuck with one instructor but now I'm mixing it up and each instructor has something different to offer. Heidi, Leo, and Jim are my faves. 4.5* overall. They still lack a few things that I hope they improve on in the future. (more locker room space, updated machines in the upstairs gym,) Also, the strictness they have on you bringing a guest that has already been there is a little ridiculous for the amount of $$$ you are paying.

When I used to live in Ventnor, I was fortunate enough to live but a few blocks from the small, but tight-knit Ninja Academy, a martial arts fitness studio. The place wasn't for everyone, but if you were motivated and took a sincere interest in Tae Kwon Do, the eccentric Sensei Malcolm, a 6th degree dan, would add you to his eclectic fight club. I really enjoyed the subculture and the amazing workout that would fly by as I sparred other members and practiced moves and techniques on the bag. It was something I missed in the winters when I was at school in Boston, and something I thought I would have to say goodbye to entirely when I moved to Hoboken. Needless to say I was surprised to find a kickboxing gym less than 4 blocks from my new apartment. I started a free week trial of CKO and was immediately glad I did. The gym offers a number of classes every day- pretty much one an hour after 4pm on the weekdays, and is pretty easy to work into most people's schedule. The first floor of the gym (which is actually up several flights of stairs) is devoted to somewhere between 60-80 punching bags, lined up in rows. Classes are conducted here, where participants follow the direction of an instructor, usually while listening to some decent EDM. Classes are slightly different depending on instructor, but they all consist of intervals of boxing and kickboxing, interlaced with sets of cardio exercises. What's good is that the instructors challenge you to push yourself, and because it is a group class, you usually do more than you would otherwise to avoid looking like a slacker (gotta love group mentality). What's also nice is that the second floor of a gym is filled with typical exercise equipment and machines (along with a speed bag- which I love) and since most people go for the classes, the second floor is practically empty and there are never any lines or wait. I committed to the year-long contract at CKO three weeks ago and have been going three or four times a week. I have already noticed that I am losing weight and getting toned, which is a nice reward for how sore I have been after the classes. The classes are intense at first, but I think my endurance is growing and I am regaining the strength and energy I had back in my Tae Kwon Do days. I give CKO 4 rather than 5 stars, because although they filled the hole left in my life by Tae Kwon Do, I still miss the hand-to-hand combat and family-feel of my old fight club. I also wish they offered a pay-per-month option without a year-long commitment, although I suppose the investment forces me to go and stay in shape.

Nice Space and the workout is fun but the music needs to be louder and more energetic. The front desk needs to be a little more welcoming.

I joined this gym in January and its the best investment I've made this year, im a shitty day trader so thats not saying much. The Yoga studios are so peaceful and the instructors are all masters. Notably Jason Morris hot yoga classes are energizing and therapeutic, he is such a Guru Ive learned so much about anatomy and making a mind body connection that it spills over into weight training. Luliias voice is so soothing and her classes are so fun, the Friday class specially feels like everyone is connected Gigis class is super cool on Sundays it should be renamed Juicy Yoga with Gigi lol, shes so funny and connects with everyone, the class feels like cuddles after sex. Spin with Juggy and Melora is elite. Ive gotten so much faster in my road bike after just a few classes. Functional training with Nyerre Mays is un-unreal. He is such a cool dude and such a Pro. The pool is epic, the Jacuzzi forget about it. The entire staff is super friendly and makes everyone feel super welcomed. I truly feel at home whenever I make it to the gym. The MVPs of the gym are the cleaning staff though, everything is so spotless all the time. In a city so chaotic is nice to have this peaceful oasis.

Short version: It's great, you'll learn a lot here. Go for it, you won't regret it…read more It's May 2017, but I haven't forgotten my New Year's Resolution. Other than the craziness that comes with moving to a different country and city, if I'm being honest, I waited this long because I was confused and intimidated. At this point in my life, I've dabbled in many popular classes like HIIT, Crossfit and Soulcycle; but nothing really clicked. In fact, there were times they left me in pain, not a good pain mind you, the sort that takes two weeks to heal. Some people might push through it thinking that it's normal, but instinctively I knew this can't be right. They only thing I really had a genuine love for and looked forward to was Yoga, and I realized what truly made a difference: my teachers. I chanced upon two gurus over the years who took the time to truly educate me about my anatomy and correct posture. I loved being aware of each muscle and joint as I'm practicing. Doing things the right way not only avoids injury, but it also unlocks your body to its greatest potential. These are cherished knowledge that changed my life and will carry me through a lifetime. But there was something missing, Yoga had its limitations with regards to muscle building and was missing a certain dynamism that suited my personality. I was attracted to the idea of weight lifting knowing its benefits from well established research. It elevates endorphins and helps you build muscles, which means you'll have more energy and get a metabolism boost even when you're stationary. There's a common misconception that it makes you look bulky, a concern for most girls. Don't worry because it's really not true! What I wanted was "great", not "good" teachers to help me get there. The kind of people who I can geek out with over anatomy, have the awareness and vigilance in the never ending road to perfection. I considered getting a personal trainer in Equinox but I'm so glad I had the lucidity to chose Willspace instead. I've never once felt like cattle or detached, as you do in a corporate multinational fitness centre. Willspace is a personal training only gym with exactly everything you need. There's no salespeople pushing you to do this and that. There's no lazy bum laying on a utility bench scrolling through Tinder for 30mins and working out for 10 (lol! what a buzzkill). There's no stinky equipment because the lovely and hardworking Tito is always keeping things spick and span. Even the bathrooms smell great! Things are always tidy because they're always put back where it was before. What you WILL find here are people who genuinely care about your progress, familiar faces and a sense of solidarity. Willspace was founded by Will, who coached me on my first day. His passion for training was evident and so was his eagerness to share his wealth of knowledge. He's meticulous in every way, including his pick of coaches. He introduced me to Lauren, and we've been thick as thieves ever since! What I've gained from Willspace is tailored training that speaks to my pace and personal goals. They ensure that I get a balance of strength, endurance and flexibility. They certainly push me to be better but I've never felt unsafe or been injured. You'll get access to the variety of specialized knowledge from its coaches. There's Will of course, Olympic Lifter Chaz, MMA Robbie, Gymnast Jorge, Muay Thai Cesar and Yoga Lauren. Each coach I've noticed, are all determined and always learning something new from each other. They have a genuine sense of camaraderie and I would get helpful tips from a coach I'm not even training with. In the past 8 months my health and wellbeing has improved by leaps and bounds, and Willspace is a big part of that. They have a machine called the InBody which I love getting on each month to get a complete analysis of what's happening in your body. Recently, I've plucked up the courage to take up Kickboxing with Cesar. It's so much fun! I love my Willspace family and I'm convinced you will be too! If you made it this far in my super long review, you probably have the desire and determination to change your life so...best of luck to you! Note: That 1 star review by JD. M gave me the lols. "I'm not looking to train here but can you give me the info of other businesses?" Look things up in yelp in your borough and don't waste hardworking people's time for something you're too lazy to do maybe...? People are so silly. SMH xD
