This CJ's is in the back of the Embassy Suites, on the second level. It looks like the same area used for their morning breakfast. There is plenty of seating, with usb ports and ac plugs next to some seating areas. We ordered from a very friendly gentleman. Missy ordered the Ultimate quesadilla and we ordered small bowls. Husband's bowl was the potatoes, pork, bacon, corn and mixed shredded cheese. I got lettuce, ground beef, corn, bacon and mixed shredded cheese with the cilantro sauce on the side. When Missy got hers, and she had to wait longer for it, she got salsa and cilantro on the side. Mine was mild, which was good for my temperamental, sensitive stomach. I ate every bite. It was so good for Missy, too. Husband enjoyed his immensely, but had a tough time finishing it. It was spicier than anticipated. It was the pork, more than the potatoes. That was confirmed by the pleasant woman who put our bowls together for us. It was all good - fresh, hot, & spicy and mild. We'd definitely look for another CJ's, or come here when we're in Knoxville. Maybe we should have gotten those CJ's cards - buy five meals to get one free!! read more

What a pleasant surprise! Staying at the Embassy Suites and wanted something quick during half-time of the Illinois/Michigan State basketball game. Never seen omelettes by day, tacos by night, but these guys should franchise this concept! Ordered 3 of their specialty tacos for $11. The taco shells were fried up in front of me before being filled by a culinary artist. I mean to tell you, this guy made a masterpiece out of whatever it was I ordered. And, as a bonus, they were delicious, too! Also got a side of chips and salsa, both were exquisite! Both guys working the taco joint were really friendly and the grub came up fast. Only negative is they don't sell drinks. Had to go back to the front desk and pick up two Dos Equis from the hotel convenience fridge. Really wasn't a negative at all, but would have preferred to have it all on one check. Guess the Company gets to pick up the beers! And by the way, Illinois kicked the snot out of MSU and moved to first place in the Big 10! read more

The two of us were looking for something easy and delicious on a First Friday night and we found it at CJ's Tacos. You can see the sign from the side of the Embassy Suites building and walk upstairs to the balcony restaurant location. Ordering is easy, you just walk up and they call your name when your food is ready. This looks like it is also the hotel breakfast area so there's plenty of seating (seat yourself). This review is based on the food truck located in Sevierville. When we walked up, the staff was super friendly; staff gets the star. They told us that they had the best tacos in Knoxville so we were super excited! We got their signature taco, the CJ. Boy, were we disappointed. They definitely did not live up to "the best tacos in Knoxville". The taco shell was super hard to bite into. The meat was like warm, more on the cold side. The tacos lacked in flavor. Taco Bell would've been better tbh. We had a group of 7 try this truck and we were ALL disappointed. They had the same experience as well. Each taco was $5, which is pretty pricey for a mediocre taco. Save your $5 for another food truck in the area. Would not recommend. read more

Not sure why there are two separate businesses in yelp but that's not a big deal. The food is cooked to order so don't be shocked it's going to take a little bit longer than two minutes to make your tacos. From what I gathered they take an order then fill it then take another order. Not the standard way but it works for them. The corn Medley is quite refreshing and packed with flavor, the corn is actually seasoned and flavorful. It's worth a try. The taco specials are all amazing. This was my first visit to the downtown hotel location after previously eating at their food truck and being impressed with the different style of tacos. We were hanging out with friends downtown on a Saturday night and decided to go for tacos. The problem was it took over an hour to get our food! Completely unacceptable to have such a wait at a taco stand after placing our orders. They didn't offer to comp any food for the elongated wait time. I can't go back. I could not wait to try the new taco place in the hotel down the street, and it absolutely does not disappoint! I was shocked it wasn't full. I got the Original, a Korean BBQ, and an Asian Fusion -- all were excellent and very unique for Knoxville. The tortillas are fried, but they're not uniformly crispy like an Ortega taco shell from the grocery store -- they're soft-crunchy-chewy-crispy around the edges, which is weird and fabulous all at the same time. The Original was the one most like the American [Tex-Mex?] tacos I grew up eating, but it was different enough to beat the heck out of a fast food taco. And it was delicious. I kinda wished I had ordered more than one, but the heat started to build up and then I was glad I only had one. (I'm super sensitive about spicy food.) The Korean BBQ was also delicious, and very Korean BBQ-y. If you haven't had bulgogi, then I can't explain it to you, but it's delicious, too, and I highly recommend it. I found it very spicy hot, too, and when I figure out exactly where the spice is coming from, I'll ask for a taco without whatever is so hot. But if I weren't a wimp, I would definitely be getting the Korean BBQ tacos all the time. The Asian fusion, though -- OMG! The absolute best! I told myself that I would get the other three tacos next time I go back, but I just want to go back now and get an Asian fusion taco and just really savor it. This counter-service eatery is located in a new [recently renovated] hotel which is very, very pretty. The chairs parked at the tables have a curved back that, well, kind of make it hard for a chick with hips to sit comfortably, but you figure it out eventually. The staff were *so* friendly and helpful. I was full of questions, like, can I have lettuce and tomatoes on the side in case these tacos are lacking? And the answer was yes, and the tacos were not lacking and I totally didn't need the lettuce and tomatoes that I got in a little stainless bowl. They were so nice. It's a little pricey for tacos, but worth every penny! This isn't authentic Mexican, so don't expect "normal" tacos. It's a unique style of super flavorful tacos with different ingredients, sauces, and flavoring on each style! Not a big fan of the white queso cheese dip.
