CJ is a true pro. He's not giving your skates back unless they are perfect. I stopped by today a bit late. After CJ looks at my blades, he stayed past quitting time and got my skates dialed in. Every community club needs a CJ. Thanks for everything! read more

History

Established in 2017.

After medically retiring from the military and from hockey, I needed a way to stay connected to my passion, Hockey. I started my training with various organizations and sought out specific paid training in many locations across Canada leading to my Blademaster Certification and Maximum Edge Certification. I also sought out Team Equipment Manager training to aid in the repair of skates and equipment. "Someday I will be the most powerful Jedi ever." - Anakin Skywalker Well, I'm CJ Butcher. I've recently retired from the Canadian Armed Forces after serving 17.5 years as an Aircraft Technician, and achieving the rank of Warrant Officer. Due to medical reasons, I had to retire early, sadly. I'm now preparing for the next phase of my life and I'm planning to be the best Skate Sharpener I can be. I've undergone many months of training at the Bell MTS Iceplex working in the Jets Gear Pro Shop. I've trained on the best equipment and I'm bringing that to you. CJ's Edge Workx only utilizes Blademaster machines and accessories. I'm also Blademaster and Maximum Edge certified. I take great pride in my work, and I want to be the guy you go to to bring it the next level. I played hockey for 20 years and I understand what it means to have your skates done right. I want to be the best, I will be the best and I want to help you get there too. I will keep you "Grinding"

Their selection isn't huge, but it is very good considering the size of the venue. The staff are extremely approachable and helpful, and within fifteen minutes, I knew everything I needed to know about longboards. I did end up purchasing one here and they were more than happy to help when I returned with more questions. The Skate shop has a great atmosphere, and very good selection on not only boards, but also clothing, shoes, and miscellaneous branded merchandise. Also a great place for stickers. A little bit pricey; however it is the only place in Selkirk to get good quality skater items. The venue could also be a little bit bigger, but it also doesn't take away from the relaxed atmosphere. A wonderful little business in a crapply little town.
