A really neat gift shop where you can find all things local and handmade! There are candles, clothes for kids and babies, blankets, pizza cutters shaped like bicycles, wind chimes, coasters for cups, wood and metal earrings, necklaces, bracelets, mugs, honey, jams, live flowers, book, so many things! Every direction you turn there are so many things to look at! Everything is so beautiful and made locally. The prices are a bit higher but again, that's because everything is made individually and in high quality. This darling gift shop called CJ Gift Shoppe in Valley Center, CA is one of the nicest shops I've ever visited. I could have walked around for hours. I was shopping there today. The employee that greeted me was a delight. So sweet, friendly and helpful. We live in Iowa and are here visiting our son and his wife. The Fair Trade merchandise and food they sell is really beautiful. It's a superb place to shop for gifts for any age. They have a gorgeous asst of greeting cards, really fabulous jewelry and gorgeously crafted stoneware, baskets and wind chimes. The prices are more than fair and it's good to know that the funds help support the artisans. The store has many items that you'll never see anyplace else and all handcrafted. The parking was easy and plentiful. There is a restaurant attached to the gift shop called Country Junction. We didn't eat there but took a to-go menu. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, ice cream and have an espresso bar. Can't wait to go back! read more

CJ Gift Shoppe is located in a rural area of Escondido, California. What brought me to this part of the world, was the lure of the hiking trails at nearby Hellhole Canyon Preserve. I had just spent the morning taking a short 5-mile hike in this particular nature preserve, where I admired the many flowering yucca, Black Sage, Chamise, Lemonade Barry Sugar Bush, and Hoary Leaf Lilac. GIFT SHOP MANIA. I have always been an aficionado of gift shops. In the San Francisco Bay area, my first exposure to gift shops was in Sausalito, which has many boutiques and gift shops. Later on, several trips to Oregon included visits to many gift shops, and I was building up my collection of cloth patches, models of lighthouses, and colorful T-shirts. Most recently, during the past 12-months in the San Diego area, I've made many purchases at gift shops at Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, Mission Trails Regional Park, and at Laguna Mountain, for example, books on the Kumeyaay tribes and cloth patches. ESCONDIDO-LAND. And that brings us to CJ Gift Shoppe in Escondido (visit of May 18, 2019). CJ Gift Shoppe ranks with the best of the best. Please expect the unexpected. CJ Gift Shoppe is located in a part of Escondido where people devote themselves to equestrian activities. Across the street from CJ Gift Shoppe is a plot of land that is dedicated to rodeo performances. Inside the gift shop one finds jewelry, knick-knacks, apparel, and works of art made in various countries around the world. I bought a bird made from carved coconuts. Separate carved segments of coconuts were coupled to the "main" coconut, which was used to form the body of the bird. Other segments were used to make the bird's head and the bird's feet. Please see my photo. My photo shows this same coconut bird hanging from the roof of my porch. The round thing is a hole, which can enable real birds to enter the coconut and to use it for making a bird nest. This gift shop also sells fish made with coconuts. Other gifts include colorfully-painted metal sculptures made in Haiti. The clerk was attentive, helpful, and abundantly cheerful. When I mentioned my interest in this product, which is called, "Jaybird Coconut Birdhouse," she took down the two available coconut birds (they were hanging from a ceiling) and placed them in my hands, and I found one that was very slightly nicer than the other. I needed a birthday gift and also a thank you gift. I had heard about the "Give Love" gift box which contains local gifts items delivered by mail.
