The Warm Hearth is a hidden gem in Julian. I didn't expect how fun and exciting this store had to offer. Very enormous with all sorts of goods like toys, snacks, artifacts, souvenirs, ornaments, games, and so much more. My favorite consisted of flowing fountains making me feel at peace. It was fully decorated with magical garden vibes. There were games where you can sit down and enjoy while others can play the piano along with drums. So much to see, I can spend hours hanging out in this store. Genuinely, this is the best store in this small town. Good friendly service was provided and would return in the future. read more

I'd give this place 3.5 stars, but I'm rounding up to 4 since it's really the best option in the area. The store has a ton of variety, from gifts for friends, kitchen gadgets, and bathroom items to toys and pet supplies. It's perfect for those hard-to-shop-for people in your life. The items here are definitely unique, so you're likely to find something special!! Prices are a bit on the higher side, but that's to be expected since it's in a touristy area. Some of the items you can find elsewhere, but you probably won't see a lot of them where you live unless you're ordering online. I spent a good 40 minutes just browsing and imagining how I'd use everything in my place. It was fun using my imagination! Came on such a busy day, it was obvious how incredibly busy the staff was. We purchased some gifts for our boys and the gentleman that checked us out was very friendly despite the Black Friday traffic. Unfortunately, one of the items we purchased had a manufacturing defect. I went back, the same day, to return the item and the woman at the cash register was also extremely nice and helpful. I was honestly shocked, she made things right within seconds - one of the best customer service interactions I've had in a while. We will definitely be back - thank you guys! read more

Anything and everything. Huge and tons of merchandise. Way too much, gets exhausting, especially when you are a group of 5 ladies who love to browse and shop and are undecided of what they want. I went this past Saturday after a decade not visiting Julian. I did not remember the store having 2 levels and being that big. We found enough souvenirs for my friends to bring back to Chile and Colombia (they were visiting from there), so mission accomplished. Two small fireplaces, artisanal soaps & lotions, jam, knick knacks...and a secret back room FILLED with iron work, toys, and more cuteness!! I'm SO IN! At the time we shopped in the barn door was slightly ajar, enough room to squeeze in. I opted to stop in and this is easily THEE shop of Main Street. There's something for everyone and souvenirs galore. Things I got: two kids shot guns $25 each, men's solid cologne $22, milled soap $7, and candy $1. Everyone is so friendly here. The locals suggest to come out here during the week. The weekends are crazy crowded. The Warm Hearth is an incredible store. Every time when I go to Julian for my annual visit in December, I find some amazing things. I love finding Christmas decor. I have purchased so much stuff over the years, I feel like a third of my Christmas decorations are from here. They have resin and wooden figurines, pillows, wall decor, ornaments, etc. They offer really unique and unusual items great for gifts like funny socks with sayings on them. I got my cousin who is a baker by profession a funny oven mitt with the saying "dropping a new recipe on your a$$." Also, they have a wonderful selection of hand made quality jewelry. The size of the place is deceiving from the outside. It is huge! The are numerous rooms and a large back area. If you are a baker or a cook, there is one room dedicated to the kitchen. They carry lots of specialty cookie cutters, tools, cookbooks, fancy measuring cups, bowls, containers, etc. There is another room with decor that changes depending on the season / upcoming holiday. Make sure that you go to the back. They have an incredible back area with more awesome finds. They carry lots of items to decorate the outside of your home - fountains, metal decorations, wooden decorative stakes, clocks. There are no associates walking around asking if you need help but you can always go to the front registers and ask for assistance. If there is a line, which there usually is, just wait a couple of minutes and someone will step out to help you. I usually spend about 45 minutes in the store to look and every nook and cranny. Incredible spot! Definitely check it out if you are in Julian. read more

This is a charming place to stop in Julian. I have been going for decades. They have a great selection of things for all interests and ages. I do have to caution people that this is definitely a tourist trap sort of place. It is charming, but buyer beware. I was disappointed to see the fountain that I bought there for $500 less at Home Depot. I understand how retail works, and I am a (deal is a deal, and sellers can ask for as much as they want) kind of guy, but I also believe in informed decisions, so before buying a large ticket item, it could definitely help to look up on Amazon or other E-commerce sites to make sure you are not grossly overpaying for something. I happen to really like my fountain and get daily enjoyment and the sound is great for going to sleep to, so I still feel like I have gotten value for my money, but wow, that is a big price jump. I get it though, they don't have the same purchasing power, and I do put a lot of value in the effort of holding inventory, and setting up a variety of them for a display and daily maintenance and employees having to keep them full and all of that good stuff. read more

Awesome store with everything you can thing of... Full of local specialties (food & crafts). Great for souvenirs and trinkets. Sooooo many things to look at, lots of separate little corners and rooms with different themes. Also stairways here and there. The back of the store actually leads to a much larger storeroom with bigger items and even furniture. I ended up purchasing jars of apple butter. Husband purchased a knife you could probably get in other stores, but is apparently on sale. Their shopping baskets are actual woven baskets. Cute! Hehe read more

While walking Julian over our two day vacation in the city I stumbled across this gem of a store right in the heart of the Julian Historic District next to Mom's Pie House. Upon walking into the store you are quite awestruck by the sheer amount of items this place offers. As I walked in the door I was hit first by a section consisting of various candles and various household accents as well as a large shelf filled from top to bottom with homemade apple butter, salad dressings and various jams made from the orchards around the city. After looking at this section I was immediately drawn to the apple butter and vidalia onion and peppercorn dressing both of which I purchased. As you leave this section of the store you are surprised to see another alcove in the back chock full of kitchen and dining room gadgets, towels, placemats and much more. Around the corner and down a flight of stairs leads you into the back of what looks to be a large warehouse filled with handmade wood signs, furniture and other larger accents of the wood variety along with another small alcove featuring indian jewelry and statues. Another section upstairs consists entirely of handmade quilts and fabrics, another is filled with statues from Disney as well as other popular characters. This place truly has something for everyone and just seemed to keep going and going. Due be forewarned that if you pay with a credit card there is a $10 minimum. I saw this sign posted at the register but not throughout the store although I could have overlooked it. As a whole this was my favorite store in Julian that I went to due to the sheer volume of items and the variety with which they consist of. Check this place out but be wary that you will more than likely drop some cash in here. The staff I experienced was very friendly, they greeted you as you walked in and helpful with any questions you may have. I definitely look forward to my next visit here. read more

I seriously love this store. After going for apple pie, this is always the next stop in Julian. It is a great gift shop and I can spend loads of time here looking at everything. There are multiple rooms and they each have their own items in there. There is a kitchen area, a couple of clothing areas, a shoe area, the main area has a lot of candles and home items, there is some jewelry; seriously, something for everyone is here. We never leave without visiting their sauce section. We always get a couple of bottles of BBQ sauce and some dressings and marinades. The little baby area is also a favorite. They have some of the cutest little items for little one or to give as a gift. The big back area is fun, there are so many things to look at. I love the fairy garden area and I can imagine how much a little one loves seeing the items. I know I will continue to visit and make purchases here. We just love it all! read more

This is a cool store my husband told me about while we were vacationing in Julian. I was staying in the cottage we rented and he told me to come down and check it out. The store looks so small on the outside but it just keeps going. Multiple floors, filled with household and cute items everywhere. Then you walk farther down and end up in a big warehouse with even more stuff. Lots of home made stuff too which makes it even more nice. It was nice to enjoy checking this out. This is the place you where want to spend some serious time, when you visit Julian. The amount and quality of merchandise in the Warm Hearth is mind-boggling. I can say without exaggeration that this store has a gift in it for everybody and anybody. Others have described the labyrinthine interior, with alcoves, nooks, crannies, and attics. I will describe one small area of interest: The Western-style leather clothing next to the checkout registers. What a nice assortment of leather and suede jackets and vests, even a leather sportcoat. The prices seemed quite reasonable, and the styles were American West genre, of course. I had several interactions with the staff, and found them to be genuinely friendly and helpful. Don't let the smallish storefront fool you. This place is massive, and it is extraordinarily well stocked. Spend some time here, you won't regret it. read more

This store is a fun one to explore if you are strolling main street in Julian. It goes on and on. I have found great little stocking stuffers for family here. They have a cooking section with books and tools that any chef would find interesting. They have beautiful cowgirl boots that tempted me. They have one small dressing room here, so I wouldn't spend too much time shopping for clothes here, but they also have an entire section dedicated to household decorations. The clearance section is in the very back (go down the stairs into the back warehouse and go to the right). There are no restrooms that I could find here. Closest bathrooms are in Mom's bakery next store (for customers only). read more

It's not every day you walk into a gift store that specialized in wood burning fireplaces, but also has plenty of gift shop-py things. There's a bizarre area in the very, very back that's as big as an airplane hangar, full of assorted junk, and not lit. But besides that, this is a well lit gift store made of several rooms. On my last visit here I bought some Julian Apple Butter (available in many stores around town) and my beloved Ty Baby elephant (which we named Julian of course). I was happy to see once I got back from the mountains that the price on "Julian" was the same in the lowlands, and that I wasn't gouged. read more

This store was so cute and full of tons of unique treasures. They had a collection of beautiful turquoise jewelry. I picked up a ring and two pairs of earrings. There was other unique jewelry too and I even found a gift for my mom. I also purchased a long sleeve shirt and a sweatshirt. They had a bunch of different novelty stuff too. I'm a big Harry Potter fan and there was a whole Harry Potter section. Really cool card decks for each Hogwarts house. I wanted all four but only picked up the Ravenclaw one for now. There was a little bit of everything and I probably spent an hour just looking around. Honestly, I could have spent a couple more hours in here. The staff was very friendly and the checkout process was smooth and fast. I'll definitely be back here whenever I'm back in Julian. read more
