I changed my mind to dress number four (no, seriously, I went through four wedding dresses before I made up my mind). To add to my wedding stress, I am a double mastectomy breast cancer survivor, and the dress I bought at David's Bridal had a neckline that plunged too far for my new anatomy. My regular seamstress was going on vacation, and I was rushing around Memphis to find someone who could fix the neckline and under the arms for me. The wedding was two weeks away! Thankfully a quick internet search in my area led me to Alicia's Alterations in Germantown. I went in with my dress (no appointment, which I don't recommend--she is extremely busy) and hoped for the best. I knew within minutes of meeting her that she would help me and she did. I made a few failed runs to a fabric store to purchase the netting needed to make the needed alterations. I left her shop feeling confident that my dress would be perfect. The fabrics I chose were the wrong type (something about Lyrica being needed) so she went shopping for me! Above and beyond--she's gold. Alicia finished the necessary alterations on my dress in A WEEK and it fit me like a glove. No easy feat, because I am plus sized with the accompanying mastectomy/bra issues. And....she is affordable! I was shocked at how reasonable the final cost was. Each time I look at my beautiful wedding photos, I am reminded of Alicia's skill and kindness, doing the alteration with so little notice, with sequins and all, in wedding season. Sew…read moreBlessed Alterations was on an approved vendor list from the bridal store, but I was glad I also received a personal reference as well. Well I must say that Elaine is a true professional. She was able to make the changes to my dress in about 2 working days which is probably unusual but I needed to fly back home to Chicago. Not only did I receive my dress back in perfect shape, I also had this added stress removed from my plate as I was nervous about the finished look! I would recommend Elaine to any and everyone. You may have to let the phone ring a bit to get a response but she is worth the wait!!!

Thought it would be done with plenty of time to spare before prom. In April, a week and a half before prom, it still wasn't done. I have honestly never heard a more rude business owner on the phone speaking to a customer. It took a full 5 minutes for Lula and other store employees to even locate the dress after being given the name of the customer and a description of the dress. She kept making excuses for why the alterations weren't done, saying she had so many dresses to alter that they alter them in order of prom date. That's why this dress was bought in January, to avoid the prom rush! She also could not give an estimated time that the dress would be done, just kept saying "not this week, I'll get to it next week"- the week of prom. Not only did Lula not follow through on the work that was supposed to be done, but she was extremely rude and condescending when she was questioned about it. I will not ever be using this business and I will steer everyone I know clear from it as well. Completely unprofessional.
