Absolutely NOT. This lady is rude and if you don't consider her attitude to be a red flag you might want to check your self worth. Seriously. Alicia has a very questionable way of running her business. When we called to see if she would be willing and able to do dress alterations, Alicia responded in an extremely unprofessional and rude manner. She questioned why fiancé even called her, and went as far as to say "nobody will do this for you" and that my fiancé "will ruin the dress if she pursues alterations." However, my fiancé has already had conversations with other alteration businesses that said no such thing. If this is how she acts when someone is trying to give her business, I can only imagine it's worse once she takes your money. read more

I needed my dress hemmed for my son's performance at Carnegie Hall. It was very urgent to get it done. Unfortunately, upon entering the establishment, I said "Hello" to Alicia and was not greeted in return. When she looked up after a few minutes from helping another customer, she asked me what I needed done. She asked when I needed my dress back, and I told her the next week. She then replied, "Oh my God! People wait so last minute to get alterations done!" I have never been treated so unkindly in a place of business. I couldn't believe how rude she was. So, I immediately refused to answer her and left to find another seamstress or tailor. I would never suggest this place to anyone. read more

What a find! Alicia was professional, experienced, and did a spectacular job on my sequined wedding dress! I changed my mind to dress number four (no, seriously, I went through four wedding dresses before I made up my mind). To add to my wedding stress, I am a double mastectomy breast cancer survivor, and the dress I bought at David's Bridal had a neckline that plunged too far for my new anatomy. My regular seamstress was going on vacation, and I was rushing around Memphis to find someone who could fix the neckline and under the arms for me. The wedding was two weeks away! Thankfully a quick internet search in my area led me to Alicia's Alterations in Germantown. I went in with my dress (no appointment, which I don't recommend--she is extremely busy) and hoped for the best. I knew within minutes of meeting her that she would help me and she did. I made a few failed runs to a fabric store to purchase the netting needed to make the needed alterations. I left her shop feeling confident that my dress would be perfect. The fabrics I chose were the wrong type (something about Lyrica being needed) so she went shopping for me! Above and beyond--she's gold. Alicia finished the necessary alterations on my dress in A WEEK and it fit me like a glove. No easy feat, because I am plus sized with the accompanying mastectomy/bra issues. And....she is affordable! I was shocked at how reasonable the final cost was. Each time I look at my beautiful wedding photos, I am reminded of Alicia's skill and kindness, doing the alteration with so little notice, with sequins and all, in wedding season. I have used 3 alteration services in town, 1 turned out to be ok, 1 one was semi disastrous, and then I found Alicia. Look no further. Alicia is the best. Most can do hemming. No brainer. But when it comes to delicate fabrics, I will not trust anyone but Alicia. She worked on few of my 100% silk garnements which are pretty high end and it came out even better than out of the store. Alicia is the best! I found her on the map because I needed alterations done on two items for an upcoming work trip. When I tried them on, she took the time to really understand what work needed to be done to them to work with my body shape, and she explained her process so I would understand what the clothes would look like afterward. She is very professional, nice, timely, and honest, and you can tell that she truly wants her clients to feel and look their best in their clothes. I was referred to Alicia for wedding dress alterations by Rocky's alterations. It was one of the most horrific experiences I've ever had. She told me " I probably need to get a new dress" .... Referring to MY WEDDING dress. And proceeded to tell me how my dress would fit tall girls and if only I was a little taller. She would not hem the dress because she didn't want to ruin the design, which I understand but ultimately it's my dress and my day. She was distasteful and I would not recommend this tailor. The Tailor down the street was able to do exactly what I wanted, and for a good price and always has such a great attitude. read more

It's a difficult task to find a good seamstress. I finally found someone who can sew anything... from horse riding clothes to patching holes and hemming jeans... I use Alicia for all my sewing needs. (I tried to learn to sew and it was a complete fail) You know she's great, because her shop is always packed full of clothes. I really don't know how she stays organized and timely... Usually her alterations take about a week. I have never had any trouble with her alterations and her prices are very reasonable. For 2 pairs of jeans hem, repair button, and repair a hole it totaled to only be $25! read more

I had a maxi dress that was too long. I found Alicia's on yelp. I dropped it off in mid May and told her it was not a rush. She said it would be ready at the end of May. I have almost everything I wear altered because having a perfectly fitted outfit can make anyone look amazing. If I could give 10 stars Alicia would get them. I took in a bridesmaids dress to be altered about 3 weeks prior to needing it finished. Alicia gave me a receipt and when to pick it up. So on the day I was meant to pick it up around lunch I went by the shop to grab it. She looked confused as to why I was there. I told her about our agreed pick up time. She acted like she couldn't find my dress at first and made me bring in my receipt with the pick up time on it. She then found my dress and she hadn't touched it yet. She then told me to come back at 5 and it would be done. I called her around 4:30 to check on it and she asked for 30 more minutes. Needless to say I was super nervous. But she got it done in time. It was a difficult dress to alter and she did have to alter the hem after she had finished because it was uneven. For the amount of stress and the price, I'm not sure it was worth it. But otherwise she was really nice. I just wish she would have cut the price a little for all that. read more
