I am officially jealous of Denver. A bunch of food trucks, tons of people and amazing food, with music, frisbee tossing, right in the middle of Downtown and in the middle of the day. I would have thought this was just a weekend special event but no it every Tuesday and Thursday during lunch for a few months during the summer. There were people from the near business buildings walking over for lunch. I wish I could do that. Food truck dreamland. So many different food truck. You still have till the end of September, maybe I could use another trip to Denver. Free admission.

FINALLY, managed to squeeze Hubs busy schedule, and convinced him to go with me for Lunch at Civic Center Eats on Tuesday September 13th 2012. Managed to get a metered parking spot nearby to this vicinity. Time was about 11:20hrs ish. From the Civic Center Eats website, during the Summer, they allocate Tuesdays and Thursdays Food Trucks Vendors for the LUNCH crowd. There are several food trucks available that day in which, I wish they could have more. At the premises, several eating areas are available, though I wish they could provide more. There is also a "portable" ATM machine in case you need it. All in all, I like the idea, but so wish they could provide more FOOD TRUCKs variety and it would be nice to open this concept NOT ONLY during the Summer season, but throughout the year. Tip : Do come early so you can eat the food you purchased and seat at the seating areas, since seating areas available can be limited. @130/2012

The best way to send your lunch time by far! There were so many options for different styles of food. Bring the whole office!! Oh and it's cheap!

Civic Center Eats is the perfect way to spend a Tuesday or Thursday lunch in my opinion. There is a wide variety of trucks - the last time I was there I saw at least a dozen including The Biscuit Bus, Manna from Heaven, The Crock Spot, Pinche Tacos, Mikes2Kitchen, Mythos Gourmet Greek, Cream City Treats, and Route 40 Argentinian. And those are just the ones I can remember. Another bonus is that many of the trucks are accepting credit/debit cards these days through fancy iPhone technology. And there is an ATM on site in case you need cash. There is a ton of seating - at shaded tables or just in the grass around and eating outdoors on our beautiful summer days makes me happier all around. There is also usually some sort of live entertainment. The last time I was there a band called Pearl for Breakfast was playing and they were awesome. It's 3 guys with guitars playing cover songs and they played everything from Otis Redding to Death Cab to Biz Markie. Yes, they played "Just a Friend" and I loved every minute of it. I think it's great that you can go to one place and have so many options for lunch - it makes eating with a group a little easier. Plus most things are under $10 which is a great deal for lunch. I plan on making this a regular part of my week for as long as they are setting up shop.

My first experience with @crockspot! Turkey meatballs and their Esteban Yucatan sauce! Delish!

Yay! That's what I have to say about this magical congregation. Lunchtime locals get a taste of all cultures in the numerous genres of food. Today, for my first Civic Center Eats Adventure, I had the distinct pleasure of tracking down a food truck I've had my eye on for a while - The Crock Spot. Piling on all the goodies: turkey meatballs, spicy Yucatan sauce, veggies - I couldn't more pleased. If anyone knows me, 'toppings' should be my middle name. Needless to say, I love everything about Civic Center Eats: the concept, the food trucks, locals coming together in one place to collectively enjoy one of the best and simple pleasures in life: Food.

I planned on visiting the Denver Art Museum in the afternoon so my friend recommended for me to stop by Civic Center Eats beforehand. I have always been a huge fan of food truck rallies and this one did not disappoint. I started my food journey with a small lobster mac and cheese (Gouda) from The Mac Shack. The food was very good. The small size was perfect for me since I wanted to try out other trucks. I also went and tried out gyro from Mythos Greek Kousina. I knew it was going to be amazing food when I saw the line. I was not disappointed. There is plenty of places to sit. Definitely worth a visit if you are around the area.

    Tons of food trucks!

I read about Civic Center Eats before visiting Denver and knew I had to check it out. My boyfriend and I got there around noon on a Wednesday so I was expecting long lines. Fortunately there are so many trucks (20 or so) that long lines weren't a problem for us! I got a burrito from a potato truck and my boyfriend got a grilled cheese from a different truck. It was super hot and sunny out, but there are shady areas in the park as well as umbrellas in the courtyard area. Most of the trucks we saw accept credit cards, but having some cash on hand might be a good idea. Also, bring your own water bottles since water was $2 or more at each truck. If you're in the area and have time to stop by for lunch, I highly suggest it!

This is an amazing food truck event. We were traveling to Denver and had this pegged as a must-try. So glad we did. I had the peach pork lettuce wraps from Still Smokin'. Fresh and delicious. My husband had a gyro from Mythos. Then we shared a strawberry mango with granola from Ba-nom-a-nom. There is something for everyone here and it's well-organized.

Always a wide variety of food trucks to choose from. Today I went with Lady Bird Co and had the Loaded Waffle Fries, Buffalo Blue Tenders, & the Spicy Bird. Everything was cooked perfectly and the ranch/blue cheese combo in the waffle fries was loaded to perfection. Not to overpowering in toppings. Can't say the same for the buffalo blue tenders as it was too smothered in sauce. The butter sauce they use on the Spicy Bird sandwich was super delicious. Definitely will find this truck again.

    Mythos and many more!

So when I saw Baba's at the South Denver Beer Fest I knew I just had to try it. They had a limited menu going on but it works, I got the falafel cone and they asked if I wanted it regular or spicy and I went with spicy. It was up in a few minutes and while they were making it, I chatted with the guy and girl running the truck. We talked all things food and social media and they even have me some suggestions on where to find legit middle eastern food in the area (excluding their truck of course) , superfriendly folks. And the falafel cone? Omg, it was an instant mouthgasm in the form of a cone! The falafels had perfect consistency and flavor and the tahini was smooth and rich. They made it spicy and it had just enough spice to accent the flavors but not overtake it. I was a sad panda when I finished it. If you see them around, definitely check it out and get some balls in your mouth!!

Their falafel is excellent--very flavorful and delicious. And they have come up with some very inventive ways to use it. For example, they have created a falafeldilla and nachos, both using hummus & falafel. I got the "nachos," and the spicy sauce they use is soooo good. Plus, the people are nice & friendly, which is always important. I will definitely be paying them another visit in the near future. I can see me becoming a regular customer. My boyfriend wanted to try more of their food, but unfortunately when he went for lunch they had run out of a lot of their menu and was left getting carne asada. He was pretty disappointed. I would not recommend this place for wedding catering. It's clear this restaurant doesn't know how…read moreto do large events because it took a team of 7-9 people a good 1.5 hours to serve three simple dishes which consisted of a chicken adobo over rice, pork over rice, and some curry; the last table at the wedding wasn't served their food until 8:40 PM. That is frankly unacceptable. If the team assembled themselves in an assembly line fashion all the food would have been served in 30 min max. Anyone with some common sense would do the following: have one person scoop the rice, have another person add the protein, and then a final person put the lobster tails on. The team was completely unorganized and were delivering 4-5 plates to tables at a time while others at the table had to wait another 10 min for their food. Besides that, the portions were small and the food wasn't even that tasty; the rice lacked flavor and their specialty, the adobo, was incredibly bland. Finally the lobster tails that were served were of poor quality as it seemed like they were not fresh. Anyone who is catering a wedding is much better served by finding a different caterer, one that is more organized and delivers better food. No one should ever have to go to a wedding to eat crappy food that isn't filling.
