Came to eat here through a recommendation of a family relative. This restaurant is built on land that is surrounded by many fish ponds. I believe this place was also featured on some national TV shows in the Philippines. There is ample parking outside that can probably fit close to 30 or more vehicles.
When you enter the restaurant, there is a small pit that has a crocodile and some turtles on display. There is a general eating area with individual bahay kubo nipa huts on both sides of the along the wooden walkway in the fish pond itself.
Now let's review the food on a scale from 1-10
Fried Catfish- 8
Bangus Sisig- 8
Crispy Hipon- 9
Sinigang Na Malaga- 8
Fried Calamari- 7
Seafood Kare Kare- 8 (with not 1, but 2 dead flies found swimming in peanut butter sauce- 1)
The service was subpar as the unenthusiastic and masungit waitresses took a tremendously long time bringing our food. Mind you, this was a 1pm lunch on a Thursday and there not that many patrons eating at that time.
I must say that the Kare Kare had a wonderful flavor, but there was some carelessness on the cook's part to overlook those flies we found in the dish. 1 fly would have been excusable, but 2?? OMG!!
Definitely if this error was found in the U.S., this establishment would have been immediately shut down by the Health Inspector. The Kare Kare dish was not included in the final price and the waiter just said that if we had a complaint, just write a remark and drop in in the remarks box. I was hoping they would have just offered to cook another dish but instead took the easy route.
Management needs to review the cleanliness of the kitchen. Definitely if this happened to me, others will complain as well. read more
