I started my apartment hunt on my own, but quickly found the sheer amount of options almost impossible to wade through. A friend of mine referred me to a realtor that worked at City Wide Realty. I reached out to him but found out he was no longer there, and he referred me to another realtor within the company named Claire. I reached out to Claire, set up an appointment to go over what I was looking for apartment wise, and the adventure began. Upon arriving at the meeting, we sat down and started discussing my wants, financials, etc. She listened to everything I wanted - a fair amount of square footage for affordable rent, hardwood floors, an in unit washer and dryer, newer construction, someplace with a good rating, quiet neighbors, lots of storage space, a pool, and someplace to walk my dog. A few days later, I returned to her office, and she went over the properties she had found. Claire mapped out a few apartment communities based on my criteria, and later that day, we drove out to one on the list. The first apartment, and actually the only one we looked at, was the Amli Covered Bridge off West Highway 71 right past the Y at Oakhill. Although a bit farther out than I had initially wanted, almost as soon as I stepped out of the car, I felt like I was home. Claire and I met with an apartment leasing agent, and we toured a couple of apartment floorplans. We returned to the leasing office to review the available units. I had my heart set on a third story place, but there was a first story apartment with a yard available, and I pounced on it. I started the application that day and heard I had been approved a few days later. It's been almost 4 months since I signed my lease and I am still in love with this apartment! I will never look for another apartment without the help of City Wide Realty. They offered a personal, professional experience that was unmatched by any other locator service. Claire was quick to respond and had a personal conversation with me to get started! I would not even give these guys 1 star. I called today and they cut me off and turned me down at every corner to find a place. They even told me I must be lying when I told them where I'm staying on a corporate account. Which proves they don't know anything. He refused to even look into a month-to-month lease. I have a job that allows me up to $4,000/month in living allowances and this guy wouldn't even check into looking for what I was asking. Then when I told him where they had me now (almost the $4000 max), he told me there was no way they leased on a month-to-month. We pay up front from a corporate account from a company that is worldwide, everyone has heard of us, there are no risks involved on his part. They are lazy and don't care about customer service for some reason. He wasn't even nice about telling m "no". Someone needs to work on their people skills if they want to continue in the customer service industry. read more

I told them what I was looking for and they had immediately compiled a list of places that could fit. After a quick day of touring places, I fell in love with one place and that was it. Stay away from CityWide Realty and specifically Robert Taylor. I was very clear with Robert that I was using multiple locators because I was on a time crunch to find an apartment and wanted to see as many options as possible. This is a word for word conversation that I had with Robert through text messages. Robert: there is another unit a little bigger on Hearn called XXXX complex (this is the only part of the conversation that I have paraphrased) Me: Already looking at that property with another locator, sorry Robert: Just updating you I'm not sure why you're working with another agent I was pretty clear on the phone that I don't allow my clients to work with locators because we all have access to the same properties. I would've been happy to take you there I'm a little disappointed because I did drive 45 minutes to meet you that's a lot of time out of my day and the only way I give the service for free just keep in mind is that you put my name down on the application when you lease otherwise I would have to charge for the hours that I put in so just keep that in mind I definitely want you to get the service for free read more

When I moved to Austin from San Francisco, I called several apartment locators and CityWide was so knowledgeable and helpful during that first talk on the phone that I went with them. I'm glad I did. Claire knew so many places in Central & South Austin that no matter what preferences I stated, she had multiple possibilities in mind. If she didn't, she would bounce ideas off her coworkers and get back to me. The group really seemed to work well together. Visiting the apartments turned out to be no problem as Claire was more than happy to meet on Saturdays or Sundays, the only days I could make the trip down to Austin. I can only speculate that the negative reviews from several years ago were when another group of agents worked there. The manager must have cleaned house and put together a whole new team. Crystal Hertz was a complete Star. I've really enjoyed my time working with her. Crystal has a got to be one of the best agents in this office. She has a real knowledge for leasing apartments, which is so important. She was able to help her client feel confident about their decision. I've seen apartment locators say, "It's up to you," to their clients. Not Crystal, she is willing to break down the positive and negatives of the options that her and her clients have looked at already to really get down to where their future dream apartment home would be. She's really attentive to what her clients need and want and Crystal only wants the best for her clients. Crystal also has experience being on the leasing side of this industry which is such an asset for us as property office staff to help convey information to prospects. I have had a horrible experience with Citywide Realty, specifically realtor Vivyan Jones. Upon meeting her for the first time at my desired rental house, she didn't even know which one it was, pulling up the wrong house, getting lost on the way. Once we found the correct house, she took the homeowner completely by surprise, since no one had previously placed a call to the owner. The owner graciously allowed us in after a few minutes, and Vivyan proceeded to scold and argue with her assistant while I entered alone. Vivyan did not enter due to her fear of dogs, though the dog was placed in the backyard the entire time. Her assistant was completely unable to answer any of my simple questions regarding the lease and property. Later, Vivyan and her assistant gossiped loudly and tried to draw me into a conversation about their family, friends, etc. Totally irrelevant and unprofessional in the presence of the homeowner. Moving on, when I decided to rent the property, that is when the real problems began. I turned in my application, application fee, and security deposit to Keller-Williams, but was scolded by her when I forgot to turn in proof of income, which wasn't previously requested. She said I should have known better, and assumed they would need this, putting me at fault for what she didn't convey. Also, all of our conversations have been via text since the beginning - she has never once picked up the phone and called to iron out details, and I have been unable to get ahold of her. When I eventually discovered (thanks to no communication from Vivyan or Keller-Williams, who was processing the lease) that the homeowner intended to move back in after one year, and was not going to address all the home repairs that needed to be done... I decided not to lease after all. This is a word-for-word text I received after two weeks of no communication: Vivyan: How are you Georgia, I have been trying to call the mgmt. Have they contacted you? Me: We are no longer moving forward with [property address] because of poor communication about the lease details from the start. We have found another property. Please do not contact me again. Vivyan: Soidon't know if you understand that, they don't call me like you think, ihave to keep following up with them, but that's fine and asking me bout to contact you is a little OCD ya think, but thanks Georgia. Name calling? Enough said about this terrible firm and awfully unprofessional "realtor." I have never in my life encountered someone so unsuitable for the job. CityWide Realty is a joke. I had the pleasure of working with Connor Reuter in my search for apartments in Austin. I tend to get nervous sometimes and forget to ask important questions, but never had to feel any discomfort because Connor did it for me. Prior to getting on location at any apartments he asked me my price point, what amenities I wanted, my location preferences, etc. He took lead and researched ahead and made the experience as a whole stress-free! He was pleasant and did his due diligence to find me a place I could call home. He drove us to each location and gave me info on the places we'd be looking at and knew his way around Austin pretty well for only living here for over a year. My nephew recently moved to town and I was at a loss as to what apartments would fit his needs. A friend mentioned to me that she had used Citywide and had a great experience. I dealt with the North Office - I believe they are running a scam to collect application fees from several people. A house popped up for two days. The guy said he collected several application fees from several people and the landlord did not like them so he was cancelling the landlords contract but he was keeping everyone's application fee because he still had to run their records. I asked what my credit score was and he did not know therefore he did not run my credit report he just kept the $100.00 application fee. I got RIPPED OFF.. read more

I just answered an Craig's List posting by a City Wide Realtor named Pierre. He didn't even give his last name! When I called the number there was no outgoing message or away to leave a message. I e-mailed him and he e-mailed back right away explaining the affordable program that was attached to two Townhomes for sale. I was inquiring about. First of all, an important number was listed wrong on this Craig's List. He says you can make up to 45, 000 to qualify but when I spoke to him he said up to 42,000.00. I told him my realtor had found the Craig's ad. He told me he was going to give me a salesperson's contact info so she could answer some of my questions he couldn't. From there things went down hill when he ask me to use him on the sale. I told him I did have a realtor again. He made a very insulting comment about her. He said she put me up to the call so she could make a quick sales commission!!!??? I ask him for the sales person's number. He told me he was finding it for me. He persisted in trying to talk me into using him on the sale. He told me I would really like him if I met him!!?? Oh I was angry! He texted me and told me he does not have the sales reps number. He's a dime a dozen used car salesman if you know what I mean! I wouldn't do business with this realty company because of him. read more
