San Francisco has a new park! Cityside Park, located at Treasure Island, recently opened. And it's beautiful!
And right now until November, Off the Grid will have food trucks/carts and a bar every Saturday, along with a free ferry ride to/from the city. And in this economy, you better take advantage. Otherwise, it's $5 each way, which isn't too bad. You can buy tickets online or use the QR code available on site. Too bad they don't accept Clipper.
The park has amazing views of the skyline. It was a bit windy when I was there, but that's expected so dress accordingly. I don't know if the blue chairs and tents are a part of the park or Off the Grid. But I recommend bringing your own blankets/chairs since there's not enough to go around.
There's also long tables to the North part of the park. And there's walking trails that where paths diverge to huge benches overlooking the city. There's plenty of places for photo ops.
Parking seems limited, and unpaved in one of the lots. Best to take the ferry. Speaking of which, the dock isn't far from the park.
Treasure Island is undergoing a lot of construction and I can't wait to see how it'll all look when it's finished. Judging by this park, it's going to look very nice! read more
