Kansas gas station Chinese has no business being this good. I've passed this restaurant a handful of times always threatening to stop and eat. I'm so glad I did! We stopped at the Oasis travel center (City Wok located inside Oasis Travel Center) on the way back from our 12 hr trip after stopping during the first leg of our trip. First stop was great. Got snacks, let the dog run around d at the park, got some yummy drinks, etc. the Second stop didn't go so well. We went to City wok and our friends went to Qdoba. We got 2 meals at City Wok for for almost 50 DOLLARS. That is an insane price to pay for a meal at a gas station. Not only was it expensive, but the orange chicken and the sweet and sour chicken tasted disgusting. FULL of sugar, oddly sweet, and really the sauces that coated the chicken were basically corn syrup and flavoring. I ended up throwing my food away. The ambiance is good. But that food was absolutely disgusting. City Wok is 100% a waste of money. I would love to see any other restaurant in place of City Wok. Even Panda Express is better. Qdoba was delicious. Chose City Wok because there was no line. Cashier was unfriendly and in later observation to customers she greeted other 2 customers the same way. 3 or 4 staff would "hide out" in the back room leaving no one at the counter. When our food was ready about 12 minutes later, our ticket # was announced and the counter person walked off. There was no "thank you" nor any other communication. By the way, there were zero orders in front of us. 2 orders of Lo Mein Mein $29.98! Beef was tough and fat or gristly and undercooked vegetables. I used napkins to discreetly remove meat from my mouth. I ate only the noodles and so did my guest. We both stopped eating and put the large remainder of our meals in the trash. Had dinner while car was charging. I was pleasantly surprised with how chicken teriyaki didn't come out doused in grease. It was actually very palatable with a huge portion of steamed veggies. This is the only reasonable thing that explains why this location is still in business. As others have stated, when you're presented with few options and many people, you go with the shortest line...and we all paid a steep price for that bias (both financially and taste-wise.) I'm pretty sure I paid nearly $70 for a couple noodle orders (which they indicate is just a side, but turns out to be enough to feed a small village), beef broccoli (which appears to have been made from leftovers of the jerky from the connected convenience store) and orange chicken (which was fine if you enjoyed the consistency of an adult store wet toilet sponge.) We ended up tossing our order after eating maybe 20% of it and just got a bag of potato chips and protein bars. I wouldn't eat here again and wouldn't recommend it to others. The staff were rude and the food was really not good. Their menu stated that entrees came with either white rice or fried rice. When I told them I wanted fried rice they said they were out, and it was 3 hours until closing, so they couldn't make anymore. There were 4 other couples in line behind us, so the issue wasn't the inability to utilize all the fried rice they would make due to the business being slow. My husband and I have ate here several times since the restaurant opened. We went to eat here on Wednesday night and it was the worst experience we had so far. We were served by two friendly guys. Then we waited close to 10 minutes for our meals. Some girl with giant hoop earrings was cooking our meal. We ordered the Kung Pao chicken with white rice. When we finally received our meals it was burnt and the taste was very different from previous times we visited. When we told the tall fellow at the register our complaints he apologized and immediately asked if we would like a new meal. The girl that made our meal just glared at us the whole time.
