My recent trip to Billings Montana was boosted with the all important rental car component. I arrived in Billings from Denver on a short hour flight on United Airlines. To my surprise, i was happy that the car rental counters were actually next to the baggage claim area. At least I didn't have to wait for the car rental shuttle and I was out of there within 30 minutes. The only issue that I had, but it got dealt with quickly, was that I noticed some damage to the car, so I had to report it before driving off oblivious to it. Stuff like that can be a problem if not reported immediately. The staff there walked with me to the car and I showed them the damaged area. She noted it down on her handheld computer and said I was good to go thereafter. Stuff like that gives piece of mind. Only thing was that weather that weekend dropped to about upper 40's F, so it was a bit nippy. Plus, windchill sucked. The overall experience at the National Rental Car here at the Billings regional airport was good, positive, and flawless. The check in process was good, friendly, and professional. The rates were pretty good already and I opted to add on the optional insurance coverage on the vehicle and the roadside assistance. I was happy that the rental car lot was basically across the street from the airport terminal. Small regional airports like Billings are awesome this way. Not sure if Billings public transportation makes daily rounds to the airport from the city, or if at all, but you can get here via taxi or Uber, if available to pick up your next rental car. Like most car rental agencies these days, they accept major credit cards and need to see your state's (or country's) driver's license. The return process was as good as you can get. Since it was 5:30am, not many car rental agencies open, but they do. Early flights are commonplace here, so they had to be open for rental car returns. It was routine and I was in and out of there within minutes and back to the airport terminal. The car I received was a Kia Soul, which was a boxy type of car, but it drove fine with 7,000 miles starting on the car. I probably drove upwards of 700 miles on this trip, but that's what vacations are about nowadays! The car worked good and there was no problems with the mechanics, so that was good. Car itself was clean and groomed. It's nice to find the USB charger there and the gas door lever in the standard spots you are used to seeing. It was a nice 4 day car rental here at the Billings Logan regional airport with National Car rental and I would recommend shopping around for the best deal, if you are trying to budget yourself into coming. For the most part though, I would recommend coming to national car rental and have a great time with the rental car. 4.0 stars for the entire experience. 4.0 stars for the car itself. The vehicle had a smell that we just couldn't get past. I spoke with Stacey (back in Billings) over the phone, and she was very understanding and arranged for us to swap the vehicle in Bozeman. I was impressed with her customer service and not making me feel like I was a problem. You know what I mean, if you've experienced it. We extended our trip 2 times and I was able to add the necessary days over the phone with the folks back in Billings, without issue. I've rented vehicles from all the major players, in several cities & the folks I dealt with at this location, were the best.

I had a reservation and when I get at the airport the lady told me I would need credit card or return flight. I didn't have a return flight because I took a bus from South Dakota and she said no. Then I returned and asked a man because she wasn't there and I asked him would I get my reserved car if I get a flight and he said yes. I get my return flight but when I returned the lady was there and she already make phone calls and she told me no. As a black person, I understand she hated me but I expected service. I would follow up with the leadership about this incident but black and brown people avoid this business. Apparently, I am not the only person to go through such kind of racial profiling. The staff was friendly and helpful, the service was speedy, and everything went smoothly While waiting for my luggage at baggage claim I walked over and picked up my rental keys. The individual was efficient, pleasant, and thorough. I was done before bags even started coming out. The lot was very close to the arrivals door of the airport, and this location is crazy close to downtown Billings (like 5min away) I received a text message from Enterprise after picking up my car just checking in with me. This was helpful because I had a question about the return process, a this was a direct line to the front desk at the airport location. They promptly responded and addressed my question While returning the car, the attendant was one of the most friendly staff members I had ever spoken to. Again, they were efficient, helpful, and they made me feel valued The only confusing part was that there was a sign when you get in the queue for Enterprise, but the sign said like National and another car company (not Enterprise). I was told that anyone at any of the rental car company desks would be able to help. Similarly, at drop off, you can park in any of the rental car spaces, not just Enterprise Some tips: Remember you can text them if you have any questions. So, after returning the car, they pinned bumper damage on us, even though the damage clearly looked old. I got the notice in the mail a couple of weeks after returning the car informing me of the charge, and when I called, the guy kept saying it was in the terms and conditions for us to have time stamped photos showing we didn't cause the damage. Since we didn't have those photos, we were SOL. They charged us $1300 for damage we did not do to the car!! I will never use Avis ever again and I recommend you don't either!
