We are so glad he's happy when he's there. I wish there was another star so I could give Dan Perata Training six stars! They're simply THE BEST! We went through two other trainers before we found Dan and his team, and without disparaging the other trainers (they were somewhat effective) I will say the Perata difference was night and day. Within a couple of weeks our five-month old puppy was walking on a leash, reacting less to other dogs in public, and gentle with kids. After a couple more weeks, he was performing recall, heeling with the kids, and almost totally ignoring other dogs. We are so proud to take him in public and people can hardly believe he's only six months old. Our goal is for him to work as a service dog and Dan has helped us get him to public places and the hospital so he'll be ready. I seriously can't say enough good things! The facility is spacious and clean and set up well for different training scenarios. The staff are all friendly, kind, and knowledgeable. Training methods are positive reinforcement and consistency without using food as "bribes". We enjoy being part of the training as the whole family learns right along with our dog. Very kid friendly!

Unfortunately, the two did not get along, and we found ourselves overwhelmed and unsure of what to do. After vetting several trainers, we chose Dan Perata because of his thoughtful, structured approach--focused on discipline and communication through commands rather than treats or punitive methods. His philosophy resonated with us: training isn't just about the dog, it's about the owners putting in the work too. This isn't a "drop off your dog and pick them up all trained" program. It's a serious commitment. We spent many weeks working closely with Dan and his incredible team, and while we eventually "graduated," that was just the beginning. We continue to train with our dogs at home and periodically attend refresher group walks to reinforce what we've learned. Additionally, we also use Dan's boarding services when we travel, knowing our dogs are in good hands and staying consistent with their training. We wholeheartedly recommend Dan Perata Training to anyone serious about building a strong, respectful relationship with their dog. But be prepared: this program requires your time, effort, and willingness to grow alongside your dog. If you're not ready for that level of commitment, you may want to rethink dog ownership altogether.

I did a fair amount of research via Yelp, but found Good Dog via Instagram. We met Erik and Teal for "testing" at their facilitating near the Alemany Market, and phew!, Oban passed. The facility is spacious, clean, and has an indoor and outdoor area. We started Oban with 3 days a week playcare. He is picked up between 10-11am and home between 4-5pm. He is exhausted by the time he gets home and we don't experience the witching hour that we do when he is home all day. Unlike off-leash plays at the beach, we are not concerned that Oban will bring home lbs of sand or worse off run away. You can tell that Teal, Erik, and Yvonne all love dogs and they take great care of all of the pups. Sometimes, our Oban sits and stares at the door waiting for one of them to come through and take him away to his happy place. We don't know whether to have hurt feelings, or feel joy because he is so happy to go there. When we were finally able to travel (COVID and all) we boarded Oban with Teal and Erik. They sent us daily pictures and updates about his well-being, and what he was doing. These people just plain love dogs and treat them well.

We found Good Dog via yelp, and we quickly understood the 5-star reviews that came before ours. Teal, Erik, and Yvonne are absolutely fabulous hoomans who clearly LOVE doggos. Teddy has so much fun with his friends! He comes home every day tired from all of his playing, but then can't wait to go back the next day. Good Dog makes it super easy for us by picking Teddy up and dropping him off at home, and we love the photos (both on Instagram and sent to our phones nearly every day). And their prices are super reasonable! In short -- if you have a doggo and need daycare, call Good Dog today!!!

From the very beginning, the process was incredibly smooth. Reaching out through their website and coordinating the booking for a non-hosted event was so easy, and the communication was clear, responsive, and genuinely helpful. The space itself was absolutely perfect and exactly what I was looking for to celebrate with close friends and family. Everything came together seamlessly, which made the day even more special and stress-free. I catered food and brought my own decor and it was an easy set up and takedown. I'm so grateful to the team at Top Dog SF for helping make this meaningful celebration possible. I would 100% book here again. Thank you so much!

Mila is a Lagotto Romagnolo (10 weeks when we started) and can be a bit of a handful, but Mike worked wonders. She's great on leash now and her overall behavior has improved significantly. Mike is always attentive and genuinely cares about the dogs. He even recommended food options that helped resolve some of Mila's stomach issues, which was great. Shoutout to Michelle and Raina as well. Mila loved them and they took her on tons of walks. They were both awesome with her. The most valuable part is that we came away feeling equipped to keep training her ourselves. We've since taught her a bunch of tricks on our own. Well worth it. Would highly recommend to any new dog owner!

Then I was thrilled to have her teach the Beyond the Backyard/Basics course again at the SPCA. She has a very encouraging and gentle manner with all the dogs and reads their body language well. Her energy and empathy have you walking away more bonded with your pup and feeling like you two can do anything together. Also, when some doggy parents misbehave and are perhaps a bit more harsh in tone (confession: me), she points it out delicately and in a very non-judgy manner: "oh, someone was using her mommy voice!" Most recently she was the instructor at the pre-agility class at Ace Dog Sports. Kuka was thrilled to meet her again and probably would've happily gone home with Erika given the chance. It was such a jam-packed productive session where the focus and attention to each dog was really felt. You could see the progress from each dog in that single session, which was super inspirational. Kuka was at first pretty apprehensive about the A-frame but made it over courageously the second time without issue! I've also had a private session with Erika as well. Her faith in both my little pooch and me was helpful, as well as the very professional packet she provided. Highly recommend Erika if you're lucky enough to encounter her!!!
