I entrusted them with my 1965 Fender Jazzmaster to add a Mastery bridge and tremolo, as well as Curtis Novak pickups, in addition to a setup using their state-of-the-art Plek machine. The guitar now plays and sounds perfectly. Steve Blake and his team are far more interested in helping a musician sound their best than making a sale. More than once, they've talked me out of purchasing something from Baltimore Music Company. I've also enlisted their perspective on purchases I've made from the likes of Gruhn Guitars, Matt Umanov, Wilcutt Guitars and others. They've earned my trust again and again and again. Finally, in a world where most music stores are strictly an online thing, the Baltimore Music Company is a great place to hang. The one negative review I see here - the writer strikes me as an impossible to please and/or passive/aggressive kind of person - my gut tells me he's crafted an intentionally exaggerated one-sided story because he was unhappy when he found out that his piano was not worth as much as he was hoping. Phil is in fact very polite, professional and upfront, so something doesn't add up in this story. When you come here and actually meet with Nancy and Phil, you'll understand. I am genuinely shocked to have to be writing this review. Mark (the owner) threatened my son (his…read moreguitar student) with violence when he let him know he would be quitting lessons. My son has taken lessons with Mark since 2021. He is about to graduate from high school, and told Mark that he will need to wind down lessons as he goes to college. Mark became irrationally upset. He threatened to throw my son's guitar out the door, began swearing, tore up the monthly lessons check and threw it at my son, and raised his fists to challenge him to fight. Thankfully my son had the presence of mind to just leave and get away from him. He came home early from his lesson very distraught. We did call the police to make a report. Apparently Mark's justification for this behavior is that my husband and I didn't talk with him enough about how the lessons were going. He never called us to report anything. Unfortunately we had no idea there was any sort of expectation for us to communicate, and even if there were I can't imagine that reason ever justifying threatening and yelling at a student. I'm so shocked by the end of this years long interaction we've had with Hunt Valley Music, but feel like I absolutely must warn people. He is clearly not a safe person to be teaching children.

A old 1980s Kramer solid body six string with Floyd Rose whammy emerged from a family closet…read more Something/someone had gotten into the pots and wiring harness. It was ugly. When plugged in the guitar made no sound. As a possible first timer, I called the shop and was referred to Zack. We talked and I explained the problem. While talking, I got the sense that he knew what to do. New wiring harness. New pots. Setup. I brought the Dead Kramer in, having stripped out the wiring harness. Zack told me, probably two weeks. As I left, I saw pots in blister packs for sale on the wall behind the cash register. That gave me confidence that this was the right place. About a week and a half in I called and he told me it would be ready by the end of the week. I waited until the beginning of the next week. I did have to go back to get the Floyd Rose handle, but no big deal. Zack had it. The Kramer is now in the hands of a 13 year old who is learning Rush licks and Dropped D tunings. Mission Accomplished. I'll be back.
