What, I wondered, might I find in this little spot that is rumored to have magical powers? Thankfully, the C of the U is well-marked by an enormous, spire-like metal map marker so it's easy to find. Once there, the actual COTU is marked by sort of a worn out circle of bricks and concrete that (tbh) probably needs a little sprucing up. According to local lore (and many Yelp reviews), you can stand in the center of this spot and speak, and nobody will hear you. Or your words will come back to you. Or something like that. I wasn't really sure what to expect. And to be completely honest with you, nothing happened when I tried. Maybe I did it wrong. There *were* people walking by, so I mostly muttered to myself, rather than yell out into the void. Yes, it's quite likely that fear of embarrassment caused me not to experience the magic and wonder that make the COTU what it is.

Plus, there are a number of places to eat in Edmond. A bedroom community - many people like to come for the small town experience. The growth in the 80's and 90's was so rapid that the 1 High School town had change, and now has 3 HUGE high schools. Plus there is a private Christian School - OCS that is K-12. Education in this city is viewed as good. There are also 2 colleges. For me, the traffic from the growth became too ridiculous, and there became a section of people that had a snooty attitude - and I can't figure out why. This is still small town America, but "money" came to town, and with it, a bit of a superiority complex. But, this doesn't reflect everyone in town! Religion is a big piece of the community in Edmond. The question is not "Do you go to church", but WHERE do you go to church? Lots of the money that came to town also goes to church. That means politics. You can certainly find a house of worship in Edmond, or ANYTOWN Oklahoma. So, if you are looking for a good school and a good church in a small town - and many people are - this is where you land, and why the town exploded in population, and continues to do so. It is a quiet bedroom community away from the city, but not far at all. This is not a town with attractions - but is a town full of - for the most part - very nice people!

This is not for the weak. Now about this. If you want "family friendly" you stay down by the river on the flat road. There is plenty of space for picnics and children. If you want over 21 with anything goes, you move uphill. There is live music, food trucks, lots of intoxication, partial or sometimes full nudity if they don't get caught, women in nothing but pasties and thongs and well, men too. There will be signage of suggestive material and very vulgar. Is it everyone? Not at all but it's not for the modest or faint of heart. It's actually pretty disgusting how people behave on the hill as it is a really exciting event. It will be trashy, full of liter, filthy and hot. Bring a cooler maybe a backpack full of cleansing cloths and hand wash as you may not find any of that up there because it's packed. You can stage yourself however throughout to actually watch the race. I mean it's like sin city wrapped up in a few hours. It's Tulsa for ya. I wish it could be family friendly as cry baby hill is exciting but they can't control it so they contain it. Btw look it up before you go to see what the "theme" is. Each year they have a theme and people sometimes dress the part. Otherwise wear what you'd wear in spring break, to the pool or dress like the Grinch and have a blast. (Yes we have seen it all!)

Medicine Park, is a small, charming town in Comanche County, known as America's cobblestone community due to its distinctive red granite cobblestone architecture. Founded on July 4, 1908, by John William Elmer Thomas, a lawyer and later U.S. senator, it was Oklahoma's first planned resort town, established to serve as a recreational area and water source. Population at the last census(2020) was 411. A popular getaway in the 1920s, attracting celebrities like Will Rogers, Al Capone, and Bonnie and Clyde(rumor is they were married there). it was known as the "Jewel of the Southwest." Bob Wills and The Texas Playboys performed regularly at the town's dance hall from 1929 to the late 1930s. The town declined post-1920s but has been revitalized since the 1990s.

The Plains Indians frequented "Medicine park" long before this legendary cobblestone community was built & attracted celebrities, gangsters, politicians, journalists & a fave hang out of Bonnie & Clyde. The local stone & little round red rock cobblestones that this little community is built with are an abundant, native geological phenomenon of the area. You will find them in mostly all the structures built here. There are many lovely B&B's around these parts for a fun weekend of exploring the area's healing waters, natural springs, local eats & activities like the incredible yearly flute festival.
