AT CARSON CITY HALL. The 2 Security Guards that worked on New Year's Day of 2025... smh. Rude, they stare in your face without speaking. And one of the Security guards was even taking a piss in front of my Mother and I in the parking lot. I walk here daily and had a good experience with their previous Security Guards. Very very very nice. But these 2.... rude and pissing in front of women and kids is disgusting. If you work here, why didn't you go inside of the building where we seen you walk put of. City building inspectors are crooks and liars. As a company we have close to 100 inspections a month with all different municipalities. The Carson inspectors are the worst . I recently had my Wedding and Reception here.. Every detail from planning to catering to even the hotel next door at the Doubletree was done very well and professional.. Surprisingly I even impressed family members from outta state with the service FULL PREMIUM DRINK BAR /CATERED BBQ DINNER/and Facilities.. My Wedding went as planned/close to perfect without any hiccups or glitches which was pleasantly surprising.. The staff Carlos our Coordinator CINDY even the young man our lead MARIO were excellent.. Bar Tender was outstanding and guests still compliment how great the food was.. Family Members are already talking about us renewing our vows and or having another family oriented event there again next year..For my family coming from Anaheim Inland Empire San Bernadino Tacoma WA Las Vegas and Japan "Military" Carson Community Center is the perfect venue to accommodate such an event with the access to freeways and hotels My Guests all enjoyed the event some slept locally to have breakfast next morning.. I signed up for a COVID test on the city's website. It clearly states that testing is available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. I schedule the appointment then drive to one of the park locations (Veterans Park to be exact). I arrive at 6 PM right when it's supposed to open. There's a banner showing COVID testing with the hours and days that I mentioned. I park then look around for the testing location. I find myself walking around all of the park with nothing in sight then enter the park building. I ask where is the COVID testing location. The person doesnt know if they still do testing at this location, even though they still have the COVID banner up outside. They then tell me that they only do testing on Saturdays now. WTF?!? How am I supposed to know this? The website still has the wrong hours and the number on the Carson COVID website goes straight to voicemail. I booked my visit this morning and had I known that Carson wouldn't have their $h!t together, I would've booked a visit to CVS or Walgreens instead. I'm trying avoid spreading my sickness (COVID or otherwise) and Carson doesnt care about the COVID pandemic to update their COVID info - a VERY easy thing to do. I imagine there are dozens of other Carson residents that have experienced the same thing. Shame on you, Carson! First, the lack of inaction to the contaminated canal water that polluted the city and sickened its residents, now a complete disregard in accurately advertising COVID resources. read more

My review is highly influenced from personal experience being behind the counter as a former City employee. Being privileged enough to have worked with amazing, hard working people that have taught me so much that I still think about to this day! I was sixteen when I was first hired in The City of Carson, City Hall and reflecting back, I definitely did not know what I was in for. With any city halls, they can be intimidating! The difference with this particular city hall is that, the departments share counter space. For example, Human Resources share a long counter with Business License (Debbie and Lisa are great!), while Revenue has their own counter space all to themselves. For first time visitors, it can get a little confusing! However, the Information desk is the first counter that is shown from the entrance. Brenda, the usual information clerk at the desk is amazing at helping and directing anyone that is lost! The staircase right next to the information desk leads to the Mayor's Office and Council Chambers. There is also restrooms upstairs. The workers are all friendly for the most part! They will be kind to you, if you drop your attitude at the door! With all things, there is more than one side. I see The City of Carson and it's City Hall as a plant, perhaps maybe even just a living thing that does not necessarily breathe or needs food but it does need to be sustained! If The City is well taken care of and not used for personal agendas or malicious intent, then this plant will help sustain it's care takers. The workers and citizens, especially the upper management has an obligation to do right ( which can be subject to various definitions, what is right?). Decisions should be made and passed depending on the benefit of all or close to it, not just a handful of power hungry individuals that do not even live in The City of Carson! I suppose politics can touch even the smallest Government agency. Power corrupts regardless of how big its jurisdiction. There are many hard working women and men that are employed by The City of Carson and a variety of them work in City Hall. They are the ones that give me hope, and perhaps they will be the ones that move up the ladder to change past practices and bad habits within The City walls. read more

City of Carson I have personally noticed that there are a lot of runned over animals in the streets. I am not sure about the law regarding this issue here in this city but it seems like people here are not hitting their breaks on these animals. Maybe we could do something about this issue. Been living here since 2012 and it's been increasing over the past years. These animals are both wild and domesticated ones. Please do something about this. read more

City of Carson is crap. This city has completely gone downhill. Here we are in the midst of a Pandemic. We had to have our roof replaced. The roofing company, did their job, but the city of Carson inspectors are a huge disappointment to the residents. We couldn't walk into city Hall to get a permit, due to COVID. But, we're being told that the inspectors need to come into our home and film that we have fire alarms. Not sure what this has to do with a new roof? A simple picture of each detector was not sufficient enough. They need to come into our home.. The inspector speaks to you, with complete rudeness. You are not law enforcement. Our roofing company stated they have never had to do videos of smoke detectors for any other roof jobs. Seems suspicious to me. Why do we need to have people we don't know, walking through our home, during a pandemic? What are you up too City of Carson, that your inspectors just have to come into our home? If you're a resident or someone who conducts business in Carson, you're blessed with a great City Hall. It is well run and very organized. My occupation as a real estate agent has me dealing with many municipalities all over LA/OC/IE and SD. This is the best run and most efficient City Hall building I've every come across in my 10 years of selling real estate. Everyone today was very helpful and helped me to be in-and-out within 15 minutes even though I had to go to three different windows. THAT'S EFFICIENCY. read more

Just left this place while looking for something else in the vicinity. I walk over to the information desk and ask a very young lady with dark hair where this particular office is. All she said was "over there", and pointed the Community Center. Problem is that the community center had no directory or visible signage displayed to point visitors in the right direction. Back in the day, people in her position would show visitors the best place to enter, where to turn, etc. If she couldn't answer a simple question, I would hope that she was a volunteer or filling in for the regular information clerk. Whatever the case, I'd like to think there are city employees with better communication skills and willing to accommodate a diverse population. read more

As a newly naturalized US citizen, I went to the Clerk Office of the Carson City Hall to apply for my new US passport. This was a very pleasant experience, with very courteous staff, and very professional and quick service. This definitely beats going to the Post Office to take care of this. Calling around to find a usable place after being turned away at my local post office, it turns out that most post office locations now require appointments for passport acceptance, and those were backed up for almost two months! Instead of driving all across town to find another place with walk-in service, this was a very nice and quick alternative. They processed my application, took payment and I was out in less than 10 minutes! Note that you need to write a check for the department of state's fee that is separate from the fee that you pay to the city for their service ($25). That last one can actually be put on a credit card if you'd like, even though their website seemed to imply otherwise. I would definitely recommend this place if you need to get a US passport done. This is a small but very well run office. It was well worth the 20 minute drive from the west side. read more

Do not come here to get a passport. I arrived at 3:30pm (the office is open 7-4). There is a sign to grab a number and wait......there are no numbers. At 4 pm, someone came out and said we can still process your applications, but we won't be able to mail them until tomorrow. So I continue to wait so I don't have to make another trip here tomorrow. It is now 5pm, and I am still waiting. I have seen about 6 different people working in the passport office, but only one is actually helping people. read more

Let's start with calling City Hall (CH) for basic information. The telephone numbers that are listed in the White Pages are incorrect. I needed to know if a permit is required for a fence between two residential properties. I was transferred at least three times after calling three times in an attempt to speak to a person rather than a recording. The first two transfers were to the wrong departments and the third department wasn't sure. On my third call I was again transferred to a person who says, "she just told you, you don't have to have a permit." Very rude, unprofessional and unappreciated. If a person had told me I wouldn't have called back three times. I stated to the employee, Miss Smartass, that it wasn't clearly stated because she transferred me to another department which would imply I'm at the wrong department. I've been here for 25 years and never encountered such rude, unprofessional city employees. read more

This is a follow up of the first review, this place has been sold. I want everyone to know. Just check it out for yourself because no one will tell you anything and I mean no one. I made complaints to the city itself and one of the council members never got around to returning my call. With the sell of this park you will continue to pay rent as you did before the announcement of it being sold. I believe that if I pay rent, why won't you (owner) do repairs to your property? I was told by the customer service representative of the company that bought the park that he wasn't going to replace the floors and the sagging condition of the floors are the same. It took 2 year's but the oven was replaced but, after the promise of being fined by the housing authority. I started protesting ( maybe you saw me on Carson Blvd) needless to say, I am persona non grata by now. I just wanted Help with the situation remember I rent not own. It took 3 weeks for the 5 gallon bin to get picked up and I could hear the changing of the gears of the truck as it picked up speed when they were picking up other things that were set out by the other neighbors.I gave up on trying to get anything picked up. I continued to protest, so when the oven was replaced and I mentioned the floor in my mom's room, the two of the managers walked into her room the I stayed in the kitchen. I didn't hear what was said but, when the handiman walked past me I felt a electric shock that actually made me jump and, I could hear him say " I'm not going to argue" I asked him how was he going to argue with my mom! I saw his hand hitting the counter and he kept repeating " I'm not going to argue". Then, I saw the face that was pure evil I heard a voice say " get out" it was me running towards the sliding door repeating those words. I didn't know if he wanted to hit my mom or me but I wasn't going to give him a chance so, I pushed him to get him out. That hate that was on his face revealed the way he feels about me. I barred them from entering the house but it's the same feeling I have had since moving here that if they could I would be flogged and lynched. I've written and called so many people even AT&T, I saw a skinny white male wearing a straw cowboy hat walking on the driveway of the home,I watched him open the door over the rear wheel and make a pitching motion throwing something into the truck. I wasn't sure what it was but my mom told me that her landline phone service wasn't working. This was on the same day I saw the guy but he wasn't parked in front of the house any longer. Adults doing childish things, yet childish things when you are the adult makes it dangerous. Hate has no bounds it doesn't care if you are old young but when it's allowed to run rampant you find out what can and will be done to get even! read more

Update: US Passport cashed out check within 2 weeks and the children (first time applicants) received theirs on 4/28/17 with plans for international travel. Passport service was great! Went to Torrance post office and they don't have this service. I decided to go through city of carson's city clerk and paid the $25 per passport (cash, credit). Went very smoothly. For children under 16, make sure the child and parents are there for verification. Have your app filled out, bring checkbook for fees, original and copy of birth certificate, front/back copy of parent's ID. My portion was done within 15 min though my total time there was over an hour. The wait was long, about 3-5 families at any time, and it was clear they hadn't completed their apps in advance or correctly, which caused for the overall wait time. read more

Absolute joke of a city. My car was stolen and left in this terrible city and received a parking ticket. After dealing with the police and the city, and sending in numerous police reports proving my car was stolen, i was stuck paying a 95$ ticket. The citizens of Carson are friendly and forward thinking. The mayor and the city council, however, are not. I'm embarrassed to admit that the mayor is a fellow Trojan. It's obvious from attending a city council meeting that the citizens of his own community have no respect for him or his 2 cronies. Almost always, the 3 of them gang up on the other 2 council members. Possibly worse is how the council and their staff don't communicate at all. The staff seems to have its own agenda that it attempts to enact via disinformation or withholding of information. read more
