I bought a beef roast through A pick up order on a weds I went to cook it on Friday and the roast had already gone bad. I took it back to the store because it was a 32$ roast and I wanted to have it replaced. The assistant manager was extremely rude and said it was my fault that I should have cooked it or froze it sooner. She said That meat on the shelf is only good for three days. That is horrible. I have bought plenty of meat that I leave for at 4/5 days before freezing or cooking. Congratulations! YOU are the WORST Krogers I've EVER visited. Further. CLEARLY NO ONE CARES at Kroger. I wrote Customer Service (ha! joke!!) on 9/23/24 to report the PATHETIC experience in your store - and NO ONE bothered to reply, so... here's my original report to Kroger... I have been a Krogers customer for about 13 years now. Only recently have I relocated to regions where I can shop at Krogers. I *almost* always find it to be a superior experience. Today in the Rawlins "City Market" was anything but. I would characterize the store as DISGUSTING, DINGY, DEPRESSED. I know they recently had a problem with their frozen storage - that did not impact me as I ATTEMPTED to shop the store. (I learned this from the manager.) I was interested primarily in FRESH produce, chicken, yogurt and perhaps more if I was not so turned off as I walked the store. The produce section was DISMAL - virtually NO organic and what organic was there was BAD. The non-organic lettuce was also wilted. This is NOT typical of any other Kroger store I have been to. I'm a traveler and wherever there is a Smiths or Fred Meyers, I preferentially shop there. ALL Krogers (except this one) are generally fine (or better.) This store, put simply is the WORST kroger's I've EVER been to. If I were the CEO of Kroger, I'd shut it down, fire the management, install a new team and do a MAJOR renovation. The chicken pricing was NOT competitive. Valley Foods - a SMALL store in Saratoga was 35% less for natural, skin on thighs. Foragers Yogurt - a STAPLE at most Krogers was NON-EXISTENT. Ham steak? Forgetaboutit!! I know Rawlins is not Steamboat Springs, but geez, couldn't it be as good as your store in Rock Springs??? Bottom line, I WASTED an 80 mile round trip drive to go to this City Market and BOUGHT NOTHING. I returned to Saratoga and shopped at Valley Foods. While I remain in Saratoga, I will shop there OR Walmart in Rawlins. I would WELCOME a decent Krogers in Rawlins. I've visited Rawlins many times over the past 8 years or so, while this store was never spectacular, it was NOT nearly as poorly stocked, priced and DISGUSTING as it is now. Please fix it or CLOSE it as it is only degrading Krogers fine reputation. Again, I wish I had NOT wasted an 80 mile round trip (about 5 gallons of diesel fuel) made PRIMARILY to grocery shop. One must take into consideration that Rawlins, Wyoming is not a large metropolitan area. City Market's only competition is Walmart, and there is literally nothing else within 100 miles. Prices are a bit higher, but not extrordinarily so - the notable exception I found was the price of cream of tartar. An average spice-sized jar is $7.59 (not sure how many ounces - probably less than 4). I can buy it online at $15.50 for 2 pounds. Selection is thankfully different from Walmart. Between the two places, I am able to remain vegetarian in a meat-centered town. I wish they had a wider selection of cheeses, particularly goat cheeses, although I understand that I would probably be the only one buying them. I buy pastries and other things to take to work to share, so I want to be sure the quality is good. I brought 2 apple and 1 raspberry coffee cakes to work this morning and cut myself a piece. The 'cake' part was good - fluffy and moist, but the 'raspberry' part was lacking. It looked and tasted like cheap raspberry flavored jelly, painted on. I don't know if City Market bakes their own coffee cakes; if they don't, they need to have a word with their supplier. I'd probably buy them again, but only if there wasn't anything that looked better. But overall, City Market gives me the opportunity of avoiding Walmart. I appreciate that. read more

As a Full Time RV Traveler, I seldom shop the same store twice. I had two containers of Peanut Butter that were on the Jiff Brand, recall/refund list. One bought in OR the other in CA. The service I received, to get a refund, was excellent. The night manager told me about pies for $1.00. Yep, a whole pie for a buck. Which meant I just had to buy some whipping cream and milk to go along with it. If you are in Rawlins, WY and need some groceries. Pass up on the Big Box Store and head to City Market. Not too bad of a grocery store really... especially for Rawlins. Some selections that I thought was decent was the book section and the produce. A considerable variety of other groceries to boot as well. I think the place got remodeled because this last time I was here it seemed to be clean and crisp and on its toes and you can directly go into their liquor store now without having to go back outside and around to the outside entrance like you used to have to do. read more

Even though you are not in Park City, UT or Vail, CO expect the same prices because there are no other major grocery stores in Rawlins. Although right up Cedar there is a nice little grocery store that is much cheaper. City Market is part of King Soopers and Kroger foods. It opens early, but recently the salad bar just took a dive with downsizing. I don't expect the salad bar to be put out anytime right after the place opens, but guarantee that at 6:59PM it will be put away and closed come hell or high water, too bad so sad. The Corporate office took almost two months to replace the deli's oven for baked/BBQ chicken, but no shortage of gross fried chicken. The deli wll make custom awesome sadwiches, but they can't seem to make breakfast sandwiches. It seems to be hit or miss, I will be the first person in the front door in the morning, and be the first person to the deli, but they pretend they sold all the deli breakfast sandwisches. City Market is part of the Kroger chain. I've been to other City Markets and my experience is that the product selection is not quite as extensive as the Fred Meyer or Kroger stores, but still decent grocery stores. There was a liquor store inside the store, but liquor purchases must be paid for at the liquor counter, not the store aisles. Decent produce selection (produce looked good), good meat selections. The good part is, it doesn't matter whether you have the Kroger card, the Fred Meyer card, or the City Market card, all of them work, plus you get your gas points. read more

It's open early and stays open until 11pm---tho they shut the lights off on you by 10pm. It's got everything you could really need, I guess. [sign]. The food is WAY OVERPRICED, but they can do that because they are the only grocery store in town. I discovered the international grocery store on Cedar today--go there for exotic fixins. Combative employees (not all), deli service terrible, won't open checkstands unless you ask, and maybe not even then (Colleen), rude customer service rep (Tammy ). Latest example: about 6pm today, I went to Deli & purchase 8pc chicken. After being told I'd have to wait, I voiced my concern over sign that said '11am to 7pm guaranteed or it's free'(mentioned in the past numerous times). I was told 'I don't know what to tell you.' Knowing that customer service rep was Tammy H., I knew it was a waste of time to go there. Being a local business owner & being told by other vendors servicing local City Mkt. that corporate tells them that that's "Just the way it is in Rawlins employee attitudes & you just deal with it.". I know nothing will change & it's too bad. If not for the interstate this store would not exist. The same for McDonalds, Burger King & a few others.15 yrs ago I was told (4)times 'Use self checkout or do without.' For over 12yrs, I didn't patronize this City Mkt. Then a good friend of mine said "things have changed, you should give them another chance." Things haven't changed & are not likely to. Also I have to drive 150 miles for my prescriptions because "Joanie" in the pharmacy told me if I didn't like their combative attitudes 'I should go somewhere else.' King Soopers in Cheyenne RX employees are even familiar w/attitude of Joanie's bad attitude in the past. Guess it's back to carrying a cooler to Saratoga, Casper, Laramie or wherever to shop. Too bad customer no- service is rampant in this town(if you don't like it, drive (2) hrs to somewhere else. Lucky for City Mkt, Walmart is just as bad. I have lived in Rawlins my whole life and didn't have issues with this store until reciently. I happen to visit their liquor department to purchase a few things and noticed a terrible inconsistancy. First, their management claimed they had a "group policy" for ID every member that comes up to the counter for 1 person to purchase beer/liquor. Upon a conversation with their corporate office there is no such policy. Their managers that claim their not managers and when you talk to the corporate office they are indeed managers. I watched in a matter of 30 minutes one clerk Christa target my family and a guy go up seconds after us not get ID for liqour. Their liquor department is open and connected to the store. So your supposed to be able to get a few household items and go in for a 6 Pack and pay all at once, claims to be family oriented but if you go in there with Christa as your clerk and you happen to have your 14 yr old daughter/ son with you she will give you hell for not providing their ID.. YET they allow 18 yrs Olds in there to purchase cigarettes. My recommendation is to find one of the other stores in town and take your business elsewhere. They have alot of work to do on their rules and policy's and their employees. read more
