Just went here for the first time. My wife goes next door to the wax center and one night I was playing with my 2 year old outside and the employees came out and was super friendly when they were closing. That just made me want to try them out and I did today. Chris cut my hair, did see all his reviews and was excited that I walked in and he was ready for me. They even open at 7 am on Saturdays which is a huge plus for me, atmosphere was great where I wouldn't mind bringing my daughters to come in and wait for me, and I liked the professionalism. Plan to keep coming back. read more

Called the place, no one answered. Decided to check out their website to see if they accept walk-ins. Sure enough says in bold print they accept walk-ins. Made the 40 minute drive to check them out. The place was not busy at all, no one was in the waiting area two barbers one man and one woman both working on two customers. Was told we don't have anything in our schedule for today... I said I thought you accepted walk-ins and explained how I made the drive based off what was written on their website. They said we do just not today.... Horrible customer experience. Spent about 5 minutes and found a much more inviting place that accepted walk-ins despite being busy in the area. read more

I'm new to the area and I've found my go-to barbershop. This place is the real deal, go here they'll take care of you.

Went here today for the first time because my normal barber moved. Made an appointment with Nicole...... DEFINITELY DO NOT go anywhere else but here. Lol. She was very welcoming, personal and did a great cut. She will be my barber from now on. Thanks Nicole!!! read more

Great place for a quick cut. No hassle no fuss. Quick in and out. Recommend for a haircut

This is the one and only barber shop I go to, not just because it's the closest one to me, it's just awesome! The atmosphere is chill and everyone is nice. They recently remodeled the store and everything looks modern and still masculine enough to be a barber shop. They got a new nice size flat screen TV to watch while you wait or you can use the standard reading materials. I see Chris every time I go and he knows how I like my hair cut and he's extremely personable. He even goes out of his way and shaves your sideburns with a straight razor and even takes care of that unwanted back neck hair. All the barbers there are great! If Chris was on vacation I would have no qualms about seeing any of the other barbers. The only downside to this barber shop is that it has gained a lot of popularity and , for that it has become very busy, especially on the weekends but it's very worth the wait. Once in a while I've had no wait at all, but that's just timing To avoid some of the wait, it's best to go midweek. This is a cash only business so make sure you bring some with you. read more

I've been getting my haircuts here for a few years now. I go every two weeks and happen to only use Sal. All of the barbers are great there. There is not a better barbershop within 10 miles. They treat you like family. read more

I've been going to G& S for 24 years. They've never let me down. They are very accommodating and good at what they do. The barbers stay around for a long time so if you get a particular person you like chances are your set and they will always remember you. The place is also very clean. Chris the owner is always very easy going and asks for recommendations that will improve his business and the customer experience. I can't recommend G & S enough. Here's to 24 more years! read more

Been coming here for years, great customer service makes for a very welcoming atmosphere. Chris knows how to run a good business

I went there a couple of times then I started to notice that the quietly started to go down hill they dont clean the equipment . Also if you go when they are busy there is a long waiting line and you lose your spot if you walk out side just to make a quick phone call . They had me at first now I will never return . read more

Been coming to Chris for my haircut for years and wouldn't go anywhere else. After moving to Wayne I tried every place in town and once I found G&s the search was over. I recommend Chris to everyone looking for a great haircut. read more

Spent a wonderful Saturday getting a haircut at G&S Barbershop in Preakness shopping center Wayne NJ. Quality of my haircut was terrific. Chris the owner cut my hair. You can see and tell he takes alot of pride in his barbershop. All the barbers have friendly personalities and listen well to their customers and provide great service. Pricing, haircut, personality of shop is spot on!! read more

G & S is the best!!!! Great cuts and shaves for a great price. Chris is my man but everybody is good. It gets better every time I go. Complimentary straight shave around the ears and on neck and implemented a waiting list so no more awkward moments declining a barber while waiting for your person. Great business, won't go anywhere else. read more

I went here because my barber in Nutley that I have been going to for 34 yrs hurt his shoulder three months ago. My hair was getting too long. Did some research and found G&S. Went today waited for my turn I got Chris. He did a great job. He listens very well to what you want. I will NOT be going back to Nutley. This place is a GREAT find. Very happy with service and hair cut. G&S is now my new barber shop. read more

Best barber shop I've been to. My mom is a hair stylist, so I grew up with free and great hair cuts my whole life. She moved a few years ago, and I seemed to never find a place that cut my hair as well. Then I found G & S, andChris just gave me a great cut every single time. He listened and asked exact what I wanted, and eventually knew how I wanted my hair. I've moved out of Wayne since, and still can't find anyone as good. Highly recommended, nice people, only $17 cut, and well worth it. Tip well! They deserve it! read more

Alex is the man! He's super friendly and he cuts extremely well. I'm very picky about my haircuts and he exceeds my expectations. I only wait for him, but I'm sure everyone else is great as well! read more

We used to take our boys to a large discount chain, we discovered G & S and for just a few dollars more the difference in cut is tremendous. My husband went to a salon called unisex, but mostly women and was never happy. He loves the hot towels and now always loves his cut at G&S. My family has never looked better, price is reasonable, service is great, and we are so happy to have become regulars, will never go anywhere else again! read more

What can I say, after moving to Wayne almost a year ago I started coming to this barber shop and getting my haircut done by Chris and Alex. I have never had a single complaint. Very friendly professional shop with that family vibe. read more

I get a solid hair cut every time. Anthony is my barber of choice and never dissapoints. The hot lather neck shave is a nice added touch. Good quality haircuts at a reasonable price. Would definitely recommend. Maybe I'll pamper myself with the straight razor shave next time. read more

Great prices, great service. Everyone is super friendly and efficient. Chris is the man!!! I moved a little far away but still come in to get a cut when I'm in the area. Highly recommend. Cash only! read more

I've been going to G&S for years now with my son and we always see Chris (who now owns the business, yippee!). Chris always listens to how I want it cut and is always patient with my son. They are always busy (which is always great to see!) so we are able to sign in and get in ASAP. Many times I run to the car to grab a different toy (as we know toddlers can be finicky) or run next door for coffee but I always have my spot in line, so they are all very kind (and fair) in doing so in my short absences. All in all, all of the barbers are very sweet and kind there and do great jobs! I recommend G&S to anyone and everyone who asks where we go for our cuts. read more

Great haircut, been going for years wouldn't go anywhere else. Wait looks worse then it is at times. Good people there get a hello by at least two if not all the barber's, for me that goes a long way. read more

Looking for a new barber I like to see how a barber handles a shape up/neck clean before I let then cut my hair. I asked to have my neck cleaned and she did a decent job but I was charged a full haircut price. I would've been OK with that if I was informed that the price for a shape up is the same as a full cut. RIP OFF! Now I'm on the hunt for a good local barber. read more

Great barber shop! I've had 2-3 haircuts with Chris and one with Anthony. Very friendly and personable. The shop is clean, nicely decorated. They give a great haircut, meticulous and thorough. They look at you from every angle and make sure your hair is the way you like it. At the end, they shave side burns and neck with straight razor, if you'd like, which is a nice finishing touch. Price is very reasonable, lower than most barbers and salons in the area for such a high quality haircut. Great value. I'm definitely going back to use all the barbers here. read more

This is by far the best barber shop I have been to in North Jersey. I have relocated to Philadelphia, but I will always come home to get my hair cuts here. Chris is my barber and he will give you the perfect hair cut. He will take requests and will give you exactly what you want, especially if you have some visual representation of the hair cut you have in mind. Chris straightens everything out and cuts everything evenly. This is great because if you cut your hair short, it will grow out evenly so you don t have to go back and get touch ups. I highly recommend this shop! read more

This place is the best! We use Cheri and she never fails to deliver exceptional service. We are never rushed and the attention to detail is never, ever lacking. I have been coming here for over a year and can easily state that no place else compares. read more

Such an amazing barbershop! Everyone is so amazing, friendly and such a pleasure to be around. I'd recommend this shop to anyone ! My son is usually fussy when it comes to getting a haircut but they always seem to calm him down. Such a great atmosphere ! I'd give it a 100 stars !! read more

The last time I got my quarterly pampering at G&S, we were all talking about Yelp! and how the shop had five out of five stars, and I explained to them that they didn't need me to write a Yelp! review because they already had a top rating. But Cherie was mad that no reviewer ever called her out by name, and it's all about Chris Chris Chris (the owner). So here it is: All the five-star Yelp! reviews of this place have it right. It has skilled barbers who seem to genuinely enjoy working together, who value their customers, and who take pride in operating a successful local business. Prices are fair, and service is excellent. I'm sure you'll get great treatment no matter who's chair you sit in, but Cherie is the only one who's ever cut my hair at G&S, she's awesome, and I always leave the shop way more handsome than when I entered. What else do you want, a lollipop? You can probably have one of those at G&S, too. Insider tip: Don't just stroll in like you own the place. It's popular, and you'll usually have wait, especially on a Saturday, so sign in on the clipboard next to the cash register. Put down Cherie's name, if you know what's good for you. read more

I believe that all these comments are not from genuine customers. I came to this shop by recommendation and saw that this shop did not have any business ethics. They simply serve the their buddies first even if you sign in earlier my choosing the barber's name. Who cares right? read more
