There are plenty of cars and play areas with big blocks and little play stands and areas for all ages, from first starting to sit up to toddling to enjoy. He really enjoyed watching the other kids and crawling around, discovering neat things to play with. It is a huge space in the community center with a nicely sized parking lot. I don't put my son in day care so it is great to have convenient, indoor, free spaces like this in Seattle. Highly recommended for parents to little ones!

My daughter was too shy and scared to go to the instructor's place because even tho we were only several steps away from her, she ignored us. I could not change another class for her because I was told that it is considered refund and they could not refund me anything. But I would not dare to take my daughter to that cold class again to "try" as the front desk staff recommended us to do it. Perhaps some sort of racism, but it's fine, keep going your way.

As we got closer to the building there was a guy standing in the middle of the road, munching on a sandwich, and directing cars to parking slots....funny. The center was having a vintage market this weekend and what a pleasant surprise it was. The place is larger than it looks. Every room was filled to the brim with vintage goodies presented by individual vendors. The selection was wonderful and the prices reasonable. The vendors are so nice and willing to educate you about their collections. One gentleman sells vintage Christmas cards and buttons. I bought a few lovely cards (no one does graphics like this anymore) and plan on framing them whenever I find some nice antique frames. I also found a vintage pin that looks just like my doggies. I love antiquing but have found that the regular antique shops are getting pretentious (everything behind locked glass) and expensive. You can come to the LCCC, have fun conversations, and take home some treasures. They also have a flea market every few months.

I've been here a few times now for the Lake City Lions Club Flea Market, which is held every 2nd…read moreSaturday of the month except for August. Getting here is pretty easy, it's fairly close to the Dick's on Lake City. Parking is another story. The building has about a dozen parking spots and you'll often see cars double parked (the horror). Otherwise you're looking at street parking which can take you rather far away. Once you do find some parking far away, be sure to see if it's a "30mins load" or if there's a "No Parking" sign anywhere. The building itself is old and tired, with well-worn furniture in the waiting area and office. The restrooms are clean though. The large auditorium reminds me of a cafeteria, especially since they set up long folding tables for people to show their wares. There is a small cafe that will sell coffee, donuts, and sandwiches for a couple bucks. I like coming here because there is always something different at the flea market. One on hand, you'll get the stuff that is priced high (for my taste) of antique items such as coins, toys, and jewelry. On the other, you'll see stuff that is priced rather low which you don't need to buy so you don't but you so regret it later (sigh). Then there's a bunch of stuff in the middle that doesn't really land on your radar for whatever reason but it's still fun to wander around and browse a couple laps. You can show up early or on time to score good parking, but the tables don't really fill until maybe 2hrs after the official start time. Then it may get a little crowded with more buyers showing up. The folks at the vendor tables and staffing the cafe/office are super sweet and nice. They always have interesting stories to tell about their items. It's an overall relaxed vibe for the people like me who hope to find something really cool. :)

Inside, too, enjoy the gym and the lap pool, a lobby space to gather and converse or take a moment away to read, check Yelp!, and more. Staff usually man the desk at the entry and can answer questions, point you in the right direction and provide information about the goings-on at the community center.

First off, it's indoors, which means swimming all year round. It's huge, has diving boards, a few bleachers to sit, and is freaking cold. Sign up early for lessons and classes. Always call ahead to check for closures due to cleaning and maintenance. These people really need to heat their pool better. Especially for all the kids swimming in it. We've done the baby class here and it's terrible for children and infants to have to brave cold water. I've seen plenty of people having to leave early because their infant can't handle the cold. I know they've been informed of the problem, but they don't seem to care. And honestly, it is a tad cold even for me and I'm a god damn Polar Bear Plunge member! I love to cold water swim but not when I'm in a pool. The locker rooms are decent. Clean. Enough benches, only one changing table though. Plenty of hooks, lockers, showers and toilets. Even some crazy-spiny-dry-your-wet-stuff thing. Strangely enough, Seattle sure has some body issues. It's just silly to see grown women nervously and dangerously stumbling under a towel so no one can see their "goodies" while trying to carol their children. Maybe I've just been in the medical world too long or I just have no shame. Either way, prepare to get looked at like a leper if you get naked without reservation. The parking is ample, though you get plenty of Lake City spill off and slack-jawed yokel teens running around. So watch your belongings and lock the doors. Vandalism and break-ins are normal. And it is so close to the beautiful Meadowbrook Pond. A great excuse to explore that area.

The center has temporarily moved much of its classes and activity offerings to virtual formats due to COVID-19. It has also been collecting supplies/donations. The parking lot is bordered by streets on two sides and easy to maneuver in to. Parking spaces for the Senior Center are well labeled and it is clear what areas are designated parking for this location. There are stair and ramp avenues to reach the front door with railings along the sides of both pathways.

We came for part of the day and covered different parts of cheer and the camp culminated with us cheering during a basketball game in the gym. Even though I did not pursue gymnastics nor cheer much after the termination of the camp, the camp itself was enjoyable, well organized, and I enjoyed that we got to practice cheer choreography in the same place we performed the cheer during the game. Later on, in high school, regional-level competitions were held here for the History Day Competition. Different competition types were housed in different rooms in the center that could accommodate the format of the competition categories. For example, documentary/film competitions were held in rooms with computer hook-ups to projectors, live-exhibits (also called skits or performances) were held in rooms that had a stage-like portion of the room, and physical exhibits (my category) were housed in one large room with aisles between the exhibits so people could stop and ask up questions. The spacing of the aisles also provided good spacing when interacting with the judges one-on-one, not too crowded in my opinion. I ended up advancing to the state-level of competition, which was held at the University of Washington, and found I preferred presenting here at the Spartan Recreation Center in part because of the spacing and in part because of friendlier event organizers and workers. Field use for sports is tied here if I am recalling correctly. We had to reserve the athletic fields in advance for dry land practice as part of the high school water polo team. For swim team, a room here was reserved and used on occasion for the start of the year team meeting and getting our warm-ups and bag (uniforms aside from team suits). Reserving the rooms and fields was relatively hassle-free. I also used the athletics fields for soccer over the years and maintenance was excellent. The track and field has a large parking lot, easy-to-read scoreboard, and a good number of bathrooms. I ran middle distance track here for my high school and enjoyed the practices and meets held here. The track surface wasn't so hard as to hurt my knees except during one practice when I managed to trip over my shoe laces during a sprints set...
