Lo, and behold, they were hosting a vintage car show with dozens of classic cars lined up and down Main St and many side streets. People from all over were walking around admiring the cars, talking to the proud owners, sometimes posing for pictures with them. Meanwhile food trucks were out in force to create a festival atmosphere with smash burgers, hot dogs, kettle corn and cotton candy. Those yummy aromas filled the air as we walked two miles going up and down every byway. So fun! We also ventured as far as the Edmonds Underwater Park at the edge of the sound where families were picnicking and children were building sand castles. All around an idyllic Sunday.

It is a community with covenants and by-laws that seek to protect and preserve the land and nature of Innis Arden, yes there are even rules about cutting down/not cutting down trees. My family moved to Innis Arden in 1994, I lived here full-time until 2010, then intermittently 2010-2012, briefly again in 2015, returned full-time in October/November 2019 and am still living here. In total this comes out to a total of approximately 18 years of my almost 28.5 years of being alive that I have lived here in Innis Arden. Zoomed out, Innis Arden is a neighborhood in the City of Shoreline. This is not to be confused with the City of Seattle because as a registered voter living here in Innis Arden I am not given the right to vote for City of Seattle ballot items such as the Mayor of Seattle. The Innis Arden community has a pool that serves the residents of Innis Arden and their guests as well as people who live outside the community and attain membership. The waitlist to be a member at the pool can be long, something to keep in mind if interested in getting a pool membership. There is also a Tennis Club and a Clubhouse. The Clubhouse is the venue for the annual Rummage Sale. There is a trail system for residents of the Innis Arden community and their guests as well as a nature reserve. I love living here and the nature-centric lifestyle it entails. It brings joy to my life getting to be a steward to the Earth and its inhabitants, both human and non-human alike, especially when I can do so in the yard. The natural landscapes and wildlife Innis Arden has worked hard for decades to preserve is becoming scarcer in the City of Seattle. Living here for me provides a chance to fight for the little critters and big trees and everything in between as Seattle's urban sprawl continues to threaten much of the greenery in the eastern Puget Sound area.

The parking garage is easy to navigate, there is an amazing sculptural piece outside the glassed eastern lobby wall, and the interior itself is open and inviting. There is a manned customer service desk which I really liked (these are a dying breed in many City halls, as many municipalities have cut these employees and services, due to budget cuts). I was transfixed by the travertine floor which is inlaid with a variety of multi-shaped materials in various images. There is clear signage where to get various licences and do various municipal businesses. There is a lovely cafe/coffee stand in the lobby, and it seemed to be a popular place. The only reason I did not assign 5 stars to this beautiful facility is because of the parking charges. Thankfully, they will validate your parking if you are there on any official City business or if you are attending a City meeting there. Otherwise, it's exhorbitant (I think the rate is $25 for up to 3 hours, if memory serves me correctly). Wow.

There isn't much to say about Lake Forest Park. It is a very nice city and is very small. It has…read moregrown substantially over the past few years though and continues to grow. The "downtown" area is center around a large white building which houses the majority of the administrative and government offices. There is a lot housed in the one building though and it seems as though all the stores are situated in this one area of the city. I did notice the police department right away but there is also a quite nice public library & town hall along with a few other cute shops. It's a really quaint city which feels extremely safe. That might explain why the population is blowing up.

I was happy to see they have a few maps of the area, tons of pamphlets and fliers to hand out, and honest, knowledgeable stuff on hand to answer questions. They are proud of what they do and so excited to talk about the community. If you have questions about Port Orchard or South Kitsap, call the Chamber, they want to help.

This civic-minded organization is active and a great place to network with other Woodinville…read morebusiness folks and civic leaders. Their events are often held at Chateau St. Michelle, and as such, the catered food and wine are excellent. That alone brings this up from the two stars I would normally give groups like this! The Chamber has some clout with the city and that can also help small businesses who need help with sign ordinances or other issues along those lines. Would be deadly boring if you didn't run a small business in Woodinville, though.

What a great community center! Have attended several events here in the past year - most recently a…read morefundraising benefit for the center: an outdoor concert with the kid friendly band: The Not It's! They had all kinds of other activities inside and out like face painting and basketball. We had so much fun! Food wise - we were so pleased to find Secret Sausage brought their big stand to the event - they are THE BEST sausages and hot dogs in Seattle! Big fields, a playground and a ball court all on the Community Center grounds. Parking can be a little tricky as its in a neighborhood and the dedicated parking spaces are minimal. But if you get there early or don't mind walking down the sidewalk a block or two - you'll be fine. They have community classes, preschool and after school care onsite also. I can't speak to those but have friends that have loved the teachers and programs there for the littles. Very loving and nurturing environment. Have met a few of the community center staff and volunteers and to me they can all be best described as big hearted! They are all so friendly and caring to our friends and family even though not all of us regularly attend classes or just show up for occasional events on site. The front desk has been very helpful and accommodating with my questions and requests for directions. Really, can't say enough good about the Loyal Heights Community Center. It's just a very warm place and the people there make you feel welcome and right at home!

Fantastic caring staff that actually remembers its community members. Super helpful and kind, and they have established a truly safe feeling space for me and my children as we have been so lucky to be a part of the community now for 5 years. My only issue is that I can't get into their childcare programs because they're so popular! the sparc sign up system is a bit frustrating, but the staff at the center have always been so helpful in circumventing that with me :D they throw killer events for our kiddos and really tie us all into a community. can't wait for that new playground to be finished!
