Deer Creek Park is a tranquil park tucked away in Woodway. A small parking lot is located at the…read moreentrance on Woodway Park Road. In the evenings I have found that this parking lot can fill up quickly. The main entrance is located to the south of Brown Owl Bridge. There are trails to walk and benches where you can sit and rest. The trails are well maintained and wash-out and overgrowing of the trails has not been a problem in my experience. At the top of the trail system is a meadow called Krebs Meadow. The meadow has a grassy field, a woodchip floored playground with a few miscellaneous play/exercise pieces. At this part of the park there are also picnic tables and a trash can. A nice place to sit and catch one's breath, do some exploring, and/or have a picnic in the woods. I enjoy coming here both with my mom and on my own for a walk in the woods to clear my head and feel immersed in nature.

When my mom and I visited the John Bush Play Area in mid-September 2020 the playground was taped…read moreoff and a sign was posted saying the play area would remain closed until Phase 3 of re-opening following the COVID-19 outbreak. The playground is very nice, boasting a wood chip floor and containing unique play structures for children resembling a cross between a watchtower and a tree house with a slide attached. The play area is easily accessible via foot, vehicle, or other road-traversable means. A bike rack is located on the side of the play area closest to the Town of Woodway Town Hall. There are both swings for very little ones and ones big enough for adults. Nice if you want to swing next to your young one, or on your own, and are an adult. A picnic table on a grassy patch is located between the wood chip-floored play area and the road. Overall a very beautiful small play area tucked away in the tall trees of Woodway.

They got just about everything here from Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Costco, more shopping at Alderwood Mall and even a convention center!! Oh...they also have parking...lots of parking!!! No fighting for spots or regret for driving a car...unlike in Seattle. Some mighty fine urban living!

Lynnwood us the useless boob of the NW Ask anyone where "down town" is and you will be met with blank stares. This is a city with zero defining features, endless roads with endless traffic lights and endless strip malls. One has to ask why does Lynnwood exist? Is it just a big live and ride spot to better places? I think so. Drive the neighborhoods of this jewel and you will run into endless fields of 1930 something ramblers with broken cars and overrun weeds. Entertainment? Uh...can't think of anything worth while. No comedy clubs, no live music. With few exceptions the restaurants are chain, and very few chain or otherwise stand out. Yelp it yourself, punch in Lynnwood and leave the "search for" blank. Nordstrom RACK is the 10th highest reviewed place in the whole city. What does that tell you? There are a few restaurants on the list (and yeah Yeh Yeh's is awsome) The police force (I am sure they are all heroes) seem to only serve the purpose of generating revenue, since there are countless radar traps around the city, and more camera's at lights than any other place I have EVER been. Rumor is they even shortened the yellow cycle on the lights to make more money. The cops are so zealous to write you a ticket I have seen them drive down the SIDEWALK to get back to their little trap. There are traffic lights in town that you will wait 3 cycles to be able to get through it. I guess the housing is cheap. Hey I live here, I work here it is convenient but won't miss it when I leave

I used to walk and run through Woodway a bunch in high school. I lived in Innis Arden and enjoying walking and running through Woodway as I could get in mid to long distance runs and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. Trees here in come in different shapes and sizes and are home to a variety of different wildlife. Speed limits are strictly enforced in Woodway. After a special event with some of my friends when I was very young, my friend's mom took and dropped us off where we lived. One of the people lived in Woodway so we passed this way. The mom was doing 27 miles an hour in an area where the speed limit was 25 miles an hour. A police car came up behind us and pulled us over and she got a ticket. Just a healthy reminder that a speed limit is a limit, that means going above it is breaking the law and can have consequences. So if you feel like being an outlaw by driving faster than the speed limit just keep in mind there may be a fee at a later date. If strictly enforced speed limits are the kind of thing that tick you off, at least the roads are open to driving.

Going to Edmonds Historical Museum this morning, Saturday 9 November 2024, I could not clearly…read morerecall if I had been before. Walking the museum exhibits, I found I could recall seeing some of the items on display before - I had come with my Grandma Rosemary maybe over 20 years ago to check it all out. My visits have been all around enjoyable experiences. For parking, I went with street parking about one street away. Parking on the streets nearest the museum was limited due to the Edmonds Saturday Market. I arrived a few minutes before opening (9 a.m.) and was eagerly the first patron of the day. I was greeted by a friendly worker who told me a bit about the museum building and an exhibit that was on its opening day, "Voices of Valor", which covered veterans from Snohomish County in various wars. She informed me I was the first patron to see the exhibit. I thought that was cool! Before proceeding into viewing the exhibits, I made my $5 donation at a box near the entrance/exit though later I did note there was a least one other donation box location in case one forgot and/or did not want to be obvious. Uniforms for the veterans varied depending on the war. It was neat to see how the dark blue for World War(s) morphed into dark green for the Vietnam War and mottled tan (Army) and blue (Navy) for the Iraq War. I appreciated the focus on the efforts of local Snohomish County residents during the war, including what role(s) they served in. Information and artifacts were clearly displayed and easy to understand, and were well laid out and straightforward to navigate (in a clockwise direction displays covered more recent wars). Downstairs, the exhibits were straightforward to navigate as well and included an old jail cell that one could enter, a model train station, and a narrated out loud diorama of an old shingle (wood/logging) mill. A second friendly worker was in the basement when I took the elevator to the lower level, she kindly turned the model train on when I got to the Great Northern Railway section. Other displays also helped contribute to my broader understanding of the development of the area and what daily life looked like in the past.

We called their telephone number to get voicemail saying check FB for hours of operation. We looked on FB which told us one set of hours... then drove over to find them closing. The woman at the front desk said they didn't know how to update their FB page to give current/accurate hours. Come on! Pretty basic... I don't recommend driving out of your way to get here given the risk that it will be closed.

There is a small parking lot out front of the building where visitors to the town hall can park their vehicle. Out front there is also a ballot drop box and a large sign laying out a timeline of the Town of Woodway. A quiet place to come and drop off your ballot if you live nearby and/or have concerns for your safety dropping your ballot off at a different location. The grounds around the town hall are beautifully curated and the building itself presents a modern-rustic feel. Also a fun place to come and learn about the history of Woodway. My mom and I visited in mid-September 2020 and we enjoyed reading the timeline and posted notices on the Town Hall building, it was closed at that time due to COVID-19.
