My room had a very small TV at the foot of the bed pointed away from the bed at a chair. Not that most people check in to watch TV, but I was worried I may kick off the blankets and kick it over so I requested it be moved or removed altogether, to which the receptionist said they couldn't until the next day(when I check-out), and that he would not be responsible for personally moving it himself, but that I would be responsible if I accidentally damaged it. They didn't have any other rooms available to switch me to and offered no solutions. Update: the hotel responded indicating I could be subject to legal issues for saying I was going to give them bad reviews on any platforms I use

Thanks to Pascal & David for wonderful front desk service! The location is very convenient from the airport. Take train S2 or S24 to Enge and cross the street to the hotel. It's only 15 minutes. These are Swiss trains, so they are clean and on time. It's walking distance from Old Town and many tourist destinations, though not right in the middle of them, so it's quite peaceful. I enjoyed a delicious breakfast (included in the room charge) each morning, complete with coffee, scrambled eggs, bacon, and an array of pastries, breads, cured meats, cheeses, juices, cereals, and fruit. I think there was even champagne, though I never partook. Breakfast is served from 6:30-10:30am M-F and 7-11am S-Su. It's great that breakfast hours span the entire time one could conceivably want to eat breakfast. The Enge station has a convenience store, a bakery, a pretzel store, a Sprungli (chocolate shop), a Chinese restaurant and a McDonald's that's open almost 24 hours, for when you have jetlag and the munchies. There's also a convenience store and Starbucks right next to the hotel. Other than that though, there's not a ton in the neighborhood. I did have an issue with the shower. The water was either scalding hot or icy cold. It took a lot of adjusting to get the shower to be warm, and then sometimes the water would suddenly get really hot or really cold again.

The weather was chilly outside, so we were able to open the window a bit for fresh air at night with no issues. Everything we decided to do (including the Christmas markets) were within walking distance. The bar on the main floor specializes in gin from several countries. If you're a gin drinker, highly recommend you take a look at their menu and try one (or a few). Each gin has a recommended pairing for a tonic and garnish, and the ones I tried were delicious. This was our first time staying in this brand of hotel, and I wish they would have let us know there were perks for our stay when joining the loyalty club. We only found out on our last day, by reading a sign at the bar. Would recommend this property and we're excited to visit their other locations during our future travels!

First stayed at a Citizen M in Amsterdam and loved it!…read more When our hotel in Zurich was unexpectedly cancelled while we were on vacation, we looked on line for something close to the train station with air conditioning. Citizen M popped up. Logged into my Bonvoy/Marriot app. Booked a room. Set for a great 2 night stay on the last leg of an extended European holiday. Arrived at the Citizen M, tired and very, very thirsty. Nice to be greeted with a warm smile and a cold, refreshing glass of fruit infused water. Just what the doctor ordered to stay hydrated. Checked in and able to choose a high floor with a courtyard view. Room was so nice and quiet. Perfect for a long siesta before exploring Zürich. The front desk attendants were so nice. Helped us with restaurant recommendations. Love the glass bottles that can be filled with cold still or sparkling water. Forgot something at home? Just ask! They have dental kits, shaving soap, razors, pens, slippers and more. And after you check out, your room card doubles as a luggage tag. So clever. The location was so convenient. Thanks for another great stay at Citizen M Zürich.

What a great location!…read more But seriously, it's very beautiful. I was actually surprised how much it reminded me of the Christal restaurant on top of Junghfraujoch. We came here on a weekend for lunch. It was clear that they were pretty busy, but we like waiting, we cool with that. But aaaaare we?! Apparently not, or...not that long. We waited a reallllly looooong time. Our waiter was nice, but come on, he was serving 2 rooms, which is like, 15 tables? or something cray like that? So I don't think it was really his fault. I ordered the soup, and my husband ordered the spätzle, but I guess the waiter assumed we were sharing so he brought the soup first. So we waited a while and realised we better eat it before it get's cold. We didn't have an opportunity to ask him, because he was so busy. Then the spätzle came, which wasn't made properly because the potatoes were still crunchy. So it sort of became one of those lunches where you just feel sort of on edge because you don't really know what's going on and you feel bad for the waiter but you also want to know if your food is coming or if it was forgotten but then you don't want to ask because you don't want your waiter to have a nervous breakdown. That kind of lunch. And then you have to pay for it too. And it was a lot. The soup was good though!

The hotel itself is beautiful-perched high atop of bluff looking over Lucerne, the views and vibe (especially at the American Bar adjacent to the lobby) are top notch. As to be expected, room rates matched the exclusive feel of the property. Unfortunately, the service and the upkeep within the room doesn't match the price point. Our check-in experience was slow and while not rude, wasn't warm and welcoming. There also wasn't an offer to porter our bags to the room which I found odd. The room while decorated well definitely felt dated and weathered. Caulking in the shower area was stained. Wardrobe closet dinged up. Again, was it the end of the world? No. But given the price point, I expected more.
